Happiness.

It wasn't something that could be wrapped in a fancy bow and handed to Morgan. No, it wasn't something someone could give her or something she could buy. She found happiness in the inconceivable towers, in the concrete gardens.

Sword in hand.

Morgan's parents were the groundskeepers of Quartz Castle, an old building recreated years ago to resemble a castle from the Renaissance. One would think after years of assisting her parent's work, she'd be tired of the circular stairways and the hidden hallways.

But she wasn't.

She loved the castle, treating it like an old friend. She knew everything about the Quartz. Every secret, every nook and cranny, every tale the fungus covered stone and intricately carved tables told.

The courtyard was her favorite. Because there, she fought.

Morgan had always been different from other kits. She had a fondness for swords and history. Her mind was stuck in the past, hundreds of years ago when every text message was a handcrafted letter and every apartment was a castle.

Because what truly made her happy was swordfighting.

She practiced after school everyday with the caretaker of the Quartz, a young gentleman who's grandfather used to swordfight. Now he's made her his apprentice.

It made her feel like, even with a short existence, she could make a difference.

When she was in the concrete garden, surrounded by the world of yesterday, even in stillness, she could see it: motion, all around her. Every step, every swing, every lunge.

Happiness.

happy place: Patience's happy place is working on her latest taxidermy project. She runs a (more or less) independent taxidermy company. Most of her orders are from pet owners who have lost their fur babies (or scale babies). Initially, it's always sad to hear their stories, but Patience always gets a sense of pride when showing her customers the finished product. You can see something in their eyes. Patience likes to think they're reminiscing of every good moment they had with their pet. Regardless, that moment makes everything worth it to Patience. So yes, working on taxidermy in her studio, as horrible as it sounds, is Patience's happy place.
