You could say that Mavis is a 'famous' witch because of her popularity in the pillowtail community, but who is she exactly?
Mavis is an elementalist, with the power of manipulating dark magic. She can summon purple flames, shadow figures, and even speak to the dead. Ever since it was found out that Mavis could speak to the dead, people (alive or dead) have begged her to send messages to friends and family. She is also commonly asked to carry out tasks from the dead in order to help them escape to the afterlife.

Of course with her power, there is a price. So, what's the catch? Mavis can see things people can't which often makes her come across as 'crazy' . Her powers are a curse, and her duty was cast upon her since birth.
