This guy is an elder among the drafts; utterly ancient compared to his companions, yet he has never proven himself to receive his cropped mane. Why? He was born blind; never permitted to enter the fray alongside his brethren, which is probably why he is still alive to this day. To win him, tell me what his role is, and how he feels about never getting his mane cropped. This will end after five completed forms.

Barn Name: Cecilio
Role: Guardian?
Story: Although this stallion is blind and can not do what the normal horse could, Cecilio is wise and knows all there is to tell about different things. He may not be understood by humans, but the other horses around him seem to understand him perfectly. They all gather around him during hard and confusing times, and even the joyous times. The foals know not to disrupt the peace and break any rules, since they know they will get in quite some trouble. Cecilio gives the other horses a warm and comfortable feeling, they always feel safe when he is around although he is blind. As for his luscious mane, he refuses to let anybody touch it. Since he is blind he does not mind the hair in his face, and he believes it suits his old age best!
"If you talk to the animals, they will talk with you, and you will know each other. If you do not talk to them, you will not know them. And what you do not know, you will fear. What one fears, one destroys." -

Show Name: Trials Into Triumph
Barn Name: Reid
Role: Advisor & Shaman
Story: Even though Reid can not see, his other senses are highly developed. His sense of touch, smell, and hearing are phenomenal. Through the years he has gained much wisdom in herbal remedies, and can pick out whatever plants he needs just through his sense of smell and feel. He has always had a strong inclination towards helping others with their suffering, be it spiritual, physical, or emotional. Because he can not see others, he does not judge them before he gets to know them. All the other horses come to him with their problems, for he is the wisest amongst them and his healing aura draws them to him. He gives advice when need, and heals the wounds suffered by those who have seen battle. It does not bother him to have a long flowing mane, for he believes much of his spiritual power and strength is contained within the strands; like the fable of Sampson who lost his strength when his hair was shorn off.
*Named him after my own blind brother, who graduated college and became a psychiatrist*

Barn Name: Corazón
Role: The Outcast & Loner
Story: As a foal, I was always on the sidelines. Other mares would whisper to their fillies and colts, "Stay away. You might catch his blindness." I never took them seriously, when they shied away and laughed at me behind their backs and called me loco. This continued until eventually, I was kicked out of my herd, a "curse" to them. I wandered for many days, in a haze of my own thoughts. I couldn't accept the reality of losing my family. Permanently. As a foal, I had always let my mane grow out, in attempt to hide my eyes.
I continued wandering, until I wandered into a corral. The people there tamed me and taught me what love was, something I never experienced. I felt so.. safe and secure. There, I met a mare I truly loved, and when I was rereleased, I became the sire of 2 fillies. Something that I never would have dreamed of as a foal. I've never cut my mane, as a reminder of who I was, and how much I've changed.

Barn Name: V
Role: Companion
Story: You can only do so much with the cards you were given at birth. This stallion was never to amount to anything. He was shoved away when knights came to pick their foals for the future and he was left with the weaker, smaller foals due to his disability. After the knights had picked through the best offspring of the year, the citizens were allowed to enter and examine the foals for themselves to see if there was one that struck their fancy. All around V, others were chosen. He was blind but he wasn't deaf. "You can't train a blind horse." "He won't get anywhere" "Waste of money". The negative comments poured down on the colt's ears, but he stood strong. In the mix of the whines and insults, V heard a voice. "What a strong boy." It rasped as an elderly woman stepped forward to reach out to the colt. Without knowing this hand was reaching for him, V jumped and let out a nervous snort as he backed into the corral fence. This drew a sickly sweet laugh from the elder, it wasn't mean, it was understanding. They shared something in common. They were each missing a sense that was important to them. The woman lacked her hearing and gazed around a deaf world, while the young colt heard everything without the ability to see the green grass. In the end, it was a match made in heaven as the two created a bond that couldn't be broken, even when his lovely owner left this world for another. In remembrance for her, he refuses to let anyone cut his mane. He sees it as a symbol of the loved one he lost as she had loved spending hours dragging her fingers through his mane and braiding it.
