hope it's not too late, I might have a bit of time to do this now!

Level I (300 words)
The murky grey clouds hung above the ramshackle town like dismal blanket. So this was Desolo I thought. Dread filled my stomach making it feel heavy and like it could be laden with bricks. I'd heard the stories of ghosts and spirits haunting here as well as what were thought to be ghosts of their chrysaoras who had passed away alongside their masters. The air certainly had an ominous feel. I glanced at the decaying brown buildings which nature had started to re-claim, they were less than inviting. Pale green creepers curled around the old houses laying their claim upon them. A chill ran down my spine and I became aware of my breath becoming visible like silver mist contrasting the veiled sky as I began my shaky approach. I clasped the bag on my shoulder tighter as fear gripped me. What had I let myself into... Yes, I was an adventure seeker so when my friend's had dared me to go spend the night in one of these buildings after recent reports of the strange mysteries happening at Desolo, I had laughed at them saying that that was easy and I'd would be up for it but now I was here, I regretted my decision. Surely the deaths were just stories to stop people from coming? Maybe people just want the precious rocks from here? I thought as I trudged further and further into the town. At the center of the town stood a large building. The city hall? Maybe the mayor's house? Who knew. It had been converted into a small lodging for people who came to mine. I observed it, it was an old fashioned building with gables and turrets. It looked like a house from a vampire movie. I chuckled nervously at the irony.
Level II (301 words)
Just before I pushed the dilapidated door open, I felt eyes boring into my back. My heart started to hammer as I turned around. Stood about 20 meters away, encircled by fog was the shape on an equine. This equine was huge, it must have measured near enough 18hh but I couldn't really tell as I was fixed on the glowing eyes glaring at me. My breath started to hit a point of irregularity as I turned to scramble up the stairs and away from this ghostly beast but something clicked in my mind, I couldn't go tell my friends I had been scared by a horse! I gripped the door handle, I could hear the blood rushing around my body as my skin turned clammy and cold. No, I wasn't going to run away like this! I was no coward. I slowly turned to face the 'apparition'. Its steely gaze was fixed on me and it stepped slowly out of it's foggy armour. I noticed a curving horn on it's forehead. It was a chrysaora.
A crazy thought flitted though my mind. I could tame it? I squinted at it. A rush of adrenaline surged through my veins. I could do this, I knew it. I had done it before but not with aggressive and feral as these alleged spectres. My knees felt weak as I turned to the horned creature. It was still stood too far away for me to conjoin or even tell what it looked like properly. I collapsed onto the steps, I had to think this through. I barely knew it so if our personalities didn't match and this chrysaora didn't accept me,
then I'd be in serious trouble. I decided to see if it showed any particular interest in me and decide to approach.
Level III (260 words)
From a distance, I could tell the chrysaora's ears had flattened. It lowered its head menacingly. I hoped it would just turn away and not bother but in my gut, I knew that wouldn't happen. It started to stalk closer to me like a cat stalking a mouse. I inhaled sharply and stood up. I wasn't going to be scared off by a horse. A ghost horse. I mentally corrected myself. Surely it couldn't hurt me if it was a ghost. I tried to relax as the equine neared closer but my brain was screaming at me to flee. Its features were easier to make out now it was closer, however and I could see its proud tail swishing threateningly and with its flattened ears and bared teeth, the creature looked like a mean sight. It suddenly occurred to me that this was no ghost and in fact a very real, and very alive Chrysaoara. My blood ran cold, this was not good. It's coat had an eerie and uncommon pattern on it, nothing that I'd ever seen before on these horses, something was off. Basilisks were well known to be aggressive and dangerous but I'd never heard of them hunting people as this one seemingly was. Before I knew it, the beast was looming nearer and nearer. It stood about 5 meters away with its head lowered. A charging chrysaora was not a nice chrysaora but I couldn't stand down as that would make it more aggressive. That nagging thought surged through my mind one more. Conjoin with it!
Level IV (257 words)
What I did not realise is that the entire time I had been making eye contact with the Chrysaora which obviously alerted it that I was strong enough to conjoin which meant it was now waiting for me to make a move. A sense of calmness washed over me. The beast obviously respected me and even though it was unusual, it'd be a stunning addition to my stables. I mean, who could blame it for not wanting to stay in such a dingy and gloomy place like Desolo. Plus now since it was a lot closer, I could pick out more features of it. Its gaze was soft almost, like it didn't want to make a bad move on its own behalf and had a strong regal neck and face, it oozed pride. I felt honoured to be chosen by such a extraordinary animal.
I began to move forward, keeping a steely eye-contact with the horned equine. Its ears pricked. I paced slowly but confidently not letting my eyes shut for even a millisecond but I was so concentrated on the large eye of the basilisk that I almost forgot how to blink. Once I reached touching distance of my new acquaintance, I half genuflected out of respect and after a second I felt a icy weight touch my shoulder like an electric shock. I stood back up to face my new companion and it pushed its nose into my hand as I stroked the cold fur of its broad face. I grinned to myself. This was amazing.
Level V (373 words)
I must have stood there grinning like an idiot for ages just stroking my new basilisk since before I knew it, it was pitch black.
Maybe it got dark earlier in such a dismal place? I wondered. The horned equine seemed to know what I was thinking as it looked at me inquisitively before turning away and swishing its tail, beckoning me to follow. It lead me out of the town to where the mines stood. A large sign hung outside of the half boarded up mine saying Keep Out. Noxious gas!. I stopped, we couldn't go in there, it was deadly! The basilisk stopped and turned to me, flicking its ears in confusion.
"Its safe over here! There's no gas." It said, seemingly in my mind, pointing with its horn to a slightly smaller cave mouth a few meters away. I'd almost forgotten they could use telepathy with their humans so it caught me off guard a bit. Noticing it, the equine nickered almost like a laugh. I shook my head and followed it to a shallow cave where it must have been living for the past few decades. It had what looked like a nest of dead leaves where it instantly laid down and curled up in. I chuckled to myself as I sat next to it, stroking its neck gently. I traced the unusual coat pattern with my finger. I wonder what made it like this I thought. The chrysaora snuffled the leaves gently, maybe it didn't know either.
The next day, I returned home to complete my dare and with a new companion. It lead me through the twisted and cankerous wood surrounding Desolo and once we emerged it gave one last look at its previous home before rubbing its face on my shoulder. I patted its neck as I took the lead, returning to our home a few hours later. Not only had I completed my bet, I had tamed one of the fabled apparitions from the ghost town of Desolo which gained my new friend and I a lot of attention but it just took it all in its stride and loved being in the center of attention although it was picky on who learned its story.
Level VI (222 words)
Over the next week I had my new companion I learned three things: One, it was a stallion, two, he was larger than your regular Chrysaora standing at 17.2hh and three, he was awful with other Chrysaoras and became jealous. He wasn't prepared to be second best, he was the best. My other basilisks didn't mind that he got so much attention as they didn't really so much like it. I still hadn't thought of name for this huge, regal stallion that stood before me but one day he kept repeating a word, telepathically of course. The word 'Arion' swirled around my head like a storm.
"Is that your name? Arion?" I asked and the stallion bobbed his head as if he was nodding.
"Arion." I repeated, getting used to how it felt. The stallion looked at me and tilted his head.
"You suit it." I added patting his cheek softly. Arion snorted as if to say 'of course I do'. He'd become so well suited to life over in such a busy place which was the other end of the spectrum to Desolo, I was proud of him. He did scare most of the visitors away with his unusual coat and his colossal size but aside from that, he'd taken to it well. Maybe that is what he needed all along.

I had heard the stories of the 'monsters' in Desolo. I never really believed them. Out of curiosity, I decided to pay a visit to this ghost town. I followed two miners who abandoned the town long ago; so terrified of coming back that I had to bribe them to take me here. It wasn't easy. They refused to travel any way than on foot, convinced the town was cursed and they feared becoming stranded here. The air grew colder as we walked, my hairs stood on end. Silence. Over the gloomy horizon, peaks of forgotten buildings came into view. The town was still, almost as if I was looking at a picture frozen in time.
"This is as far as we're going," one said.
"You know the way back?" the other asked.
"Of course," I replied with a shrug.
      "Stay safe then," they said.
      "You too," I waved goodbye.
I walked down the dark roads, looking into dusty shop windows and their painted signs, the colour peeling away to show the rotting wooden boards. The sky was a solid shade of grey. It had been all day. I felt that a storm was to come, but the skies never moved and the air was stagnant, dead. There was not even a breeze here. I couldn't imagine this place to be the thriving town it once was. I thought of all the people who left, leaving behind this town they once loved. What if this was my own home? I couldn't even imagine. The streets were littered with rotting leaves, rust orange to blood red in colour. It was quiet. All I heard were my lost footsteps and my pounding heart. Maybe these beasts weren't real after all.

      Level II
      223 words
Of course, I had no real plan. Hopefully these were just like regular chrysaoras, just misunderstood. There was no way they could be as aggressive as the rumours said. I was lost, where would I find one? I had been searching for a few hours and had not seen a single one. I fought with myself. Was it worth going back? Everything screamed hoax to me, maybe the fumes just really had gotten to the miners' heads. But why would they be so scared? Perhaps these chrysaoras wanted to keep people away from the mines. I decided to make my way over there. As I walked through the town, I had the idea of staying near a building so I could slip inside in case one of these creatures got too aggressive. The more I thought about the deaths here, the more I realised my normal ways would not work. I knew before, but only now was it truly hitting me. I was in danger. Maybe they would like to see a human who shows love to them unlike the rare visitors, or perhaps they want to see someone who shows no fear like themselves. I didn't understand them enough to know what they wanted. No-one did. I thought of watching them to learn, but at the moment they seemed to be non-existant.

      Level III
      217 words
I felt... Watched. No matter what corner I turned, I felt eyes piercing from the shadows but there was nothing in sight. It was just nerves. Right? Shady figures would fade in and out in the distance. But surely, they were shadows. The sound of hooves that disappeared and reappeared elsewhere. Or was it me? I stopped. Listened. I felt a cold chill spread through my body before a warmth on my neck. Breathing. I didn't turn around. I dropped my arms and held my breath. A cry. I heard them turn, and slowly looked over my shoulder, catching a glimpse of a familiar tail fading into thin air. I tried to follow. The chrysaora switched between planes of existence. Each time it returned, it was a distance away. Ears pinned further back every time, with an angry lash of the tail and a burning glare that looked like it could kill. Well, it could. But I was well aware of this. Eventually, deep in the barren woods with dead trees and a grey, foggy floor, they stood. We stared at each other, as still as statues, for what felt like forever. They slowly took a prideful step. I stepped, stood tall. It was almost a dance as we took turns to inch closer to each other.

      Level IV
      302 words
By now we stood face to face. The chrysaora stared at me with flat, empty eyes that sent a shiver down my spine. I could hear their slow breathing that fell into an almost perfect, calm rhythm. But I was anything but calm, and I had no doubt they noticed that. I wasn't sure if this was the one. They seemed so distant and uncaring of my presence, waiting for me to leave like everyone else. It was worth a try. I reached my hand out slowly, a few inches from their muzzle. Nothing. Those eyes seemed to burn... with insult, fear? I took a step back. Another. The creature slowly stepped and forcefully pushed me with their head, I nearly fell over. Again. They cried and started to hit me with blows that felt like they would break my bones. Hooves pawed. I kneeled before them. They stopped for a moment before quietly neighing and I felt them push their head on my shoulder. I lowered my other leg, knee sinking into the freezing, swampy mud. Neither of us moved but I heard them smell me and felt their curious nudges. I thought about what I had gotten myself into, there was no way to get away quick enough if they wanted to hurt me. Maybe they did. They pulled away and froze, as if thinking. It felt like forever before a horn touched my shoulder and rested there. We stayed still until they lifted their head. The chrysaora looked out into the misty woods, ignoring me. I expected some help as I struggled to my feet in the slippery mud. It could be that they wanted a person who didn't need their help, someone strong. I slowly stroked their neck, only receiving a sideways glance before they started to walk.

      Level V
      453 words
"No, this way," I called, "come on."
I started walking without looking back, I hoped that they would follow and that I wasn't about to lose my new chrysaora in the middle of nowhere. They stand there. I decide to take my phone out, I had taken it just in case there was a slither of a chance there was a signal here for if I was in trouble, but of course there wasn't. I take a picture of my new friend. Just in case some people never believed me. I then realised that I would probably never be in Desolo again.
"I have an idea," I said.
We reached the edge of the town, where I took pictures of the scene. It didn't feel so creepy now that I had a chrysaora by my side, more like a trip to a museum. We wandered around and I'd snap pictures of empty houses, shops, the mines. Yes, the mines. I lead them there and felt the familiar feeling that I was being watched. My friend seemed more alert, a little nervous. We stepped into the dusty mines and I ran my hands along the harsh walls. Carts still sat to the sides, empty. There were some small piles of ores scattered around, forgotten. I picked up the smallest ones as we went along. It felt like I was following a trail of bread crumbs. I noticed that my chrysaora seemed to grow upset as we went deeper. Was it because I was collecting the ores or something else? After a few turns, a small herd of chrys gathered in a cross-road of tunnels. The fumes collected thickly here. They looked at us warily. Behind them was an ore I had never seen. I tried to slowly walk behind them. One of them charged me, stopping when I turned around. The whole herd pinned their ears and cried loudly, slowly walking towards us. I stepped back. My chry looked at me and snorted, as they approached the herd with their neck extended in greeting. One of the others lunged, sending my friend prancing back to me.
"They don't want us here," I stroke their neck, "let's leave."
We make our way back up the mine, the herd stalking us to make sure we were gone. The whole time, my chrysaora looked back at them, sometimes they whinnied softly but never got a reply. They had been rejected because they were around me. But at least I would take them home. As we leave the town, I think about the mines. The chrysaora only tried to make us leave the mines, stopping us from heading deeper into the fumes. Was this aggression actually just protection?

      Level VI
      480 words
It was getting late when I returned, leading my chrysaora down the path through the fields of our stables. They certainly are a head-turner. Every horse is making sure to stare as we pass by. I'm not surprised. This one is nothing like most of the horses here and they certainly stand out like a sore thumb. Maybe the horses can sense that they aren't quite right. As we walked, I felt that they didn't 'belong' here either, they felt like something from another world. While they might have been the center of attention, they completely ignored all other horses and the few members of staff brave enough to come say hello. I stood in the barn with some stable hands and a very uninterested chrysaora stood behind me, staring blankly at a wall.
"So you didn't set up the decorations?" I asked.
      "No," one said.
"It's Halloween tomorrow, the visitors are expecting it," I sigh, "I'll go do some."
Silence. The group is mostly focused on the new horse.
      "Are they blind?" someone murmured.
I look at the chry. They act as if the world doesn't exist around them, yet they know it does. They know where I am and where objects are; there's a decent chance they are old and blind, but have been around long enough to learn how to get around like normal.
"You know what," I said, "they could be. Book a vet for tomorrow."
We head to the field with our four other chrysaoras. The herd stays at the far end of the field, unusual. As we walked over, they nervously made distance. No matter how much I called for the herd or tried to comfort them without the new one by my side, they wanted nothing to do with us.
"Not today, huh?" I whisper as I gently rub behind the new chrysaora's ear, "say, want to help me out?"
      They snort.

We made our way around the stables with a wheelbarrow full of jack-o-lanterns, fake cobwebs, brooms and more. Some of the decorations in here are ancient, so old I don't even remember where they come from. As I put down decorations, I hear some being knocked to the floor. My chrysaora is rubbing their head in the wheelbarrow, throwing out all sorts as they try to get that itch. I scratch them and laugh. They lifted their head with a slight bob, to show a tangle of fake cobwebs hanging from their horn and entwined in their mane. Later they nibbled at a plastic arm prop, then my own. It was almost pitch black when we finished. The candles and jack-o-lanterns dimly lit the fields in an orange hue, almost like the grass was glowing under a sunrise. I took them to the stables where they would stay for the night. Soon we would try introduce them to the herd again.

All right! The Quest has ended and a good deal of you have managed to conjoin with a chry from Desolo!

The trading center is now open!

      To Order;;

Post your form as a new post, following the setup shown in the example. If you have any questions on what item combinations are allowed please ask! I will approve forms and add them to another page on the point tracker for the event. YOU MAY ONLY ORDER ONE CHRYSAORA

** feel free to specify detail on your mutation/item, unless you'd like the artist to have freedom**

If you still have extra points after you've ordered your chry, add the "unusable" points form to the bottom of your post. The items you purchase using that form will be put in a separate page for future use. You still have to follow the limits in place for items as if you were ordering another chry.

Artists will be chosen randomly for each of your chry, which will start being made as soon as your form is approved.
I can't wait to see what everyone's haunted chry comes out to be!

With that, have at it! Thank you everyone who participated!
