Why
this young witch had everything she thought she had ever needed. an intelligent brain and a great skill in potion-making, what else is there she would need? she could make anyone do anything she wanted with her brilliant potion recipes, from invisibility potions to love potions. she could do whatever she wanted and didn't need anyone to tell her otherwise. after many years of being alone in her hut however, brewing potions all day and discovering new recipes, it got fairly lonely. the little witch grew sad and alone, wanting to find a lover to spend her life with. every day she would leave her little hut in the magical forest she lived in and traveled to the city, searching for someone to fall in love with. her future best friend, the future father of her children, someone she could be truly happy with. this plan didn't work however, because something about the witch scared everyone away. she was intimidating, very rude at first and didnt know how to properly treat others. who can blame her? she's lived alone all her life, the only company she's ever had is her pets.

the witch grew very impatient, wanting to make someone fall in love with her. eventually a thought crept into her head; a love potion. i can find the perfect man and make him fall in love with me! she thought, her brain already filled with ideas for her newest potion recipe. after months of hunting for ingredients and many failed recipes, she finally had it. the perfect potion to make someone fall in love with her. she wont be alone for much longer. the witch ventured back into the city and after a while of searching, finally found the perfect man to call hers. he was everything she ever wanted; well, from the outside at least. he was handsome and kind, the perfect lover. she grabbed her potion from her sack and snuck up behind the handsome kalon. pouring it slowly onto his tail, it seeped into his fur and through his skin. the effects hit him like a brick. he turned around and greeted her, staring at her like he was staring at the love of his life. it worked! it worked perfectly! she exclaimed in her head. in fact, it worked a little too well.

they fell in love. they acted like best friends, going everywhere together. just a few months later, they were living together, happy as can be. or so she thought. the witch never really fell in love with him- sure, he was perfect, but the connection wasnt there. she felt trapped, like she had made the biggest mistake of her life and was now stuck with this man who she felt nothing for. it was all fake, and she wanted out of it. the witch felt absolutely horrible for what she had done. quickly she brewed up a reverse effects potion and prepared to give it to her fake lover. it would all be over soon, the witch had learned her lesson.

together they went to the city, and in the middle of a huge crowd, she pulled him close to hug him one last time and poured the potion onto his tail, the same spot that the love potion went onto. once again, the effects hit him like a brick. she couldn't bare to see his confusion and loneliness as the love potion faded away, so she ran. she ran as fast as she could, back to her little hut. she would never make a mistake like that again. she had learned her lesson, she was selfish and impatient, but she realized good things come with time and she should never use her potion-making skills for something as selfish as that ever again. the man had forgotten all about her and went back to his normal life, and the witch eventually forgot about him as well. from now on, she will only use her potions for good.

I remember reading this quote a while back, and the instant I read it, I remember thinking of this song. I think the kalon's design combined with this quote and the song all tie together beautifully; they complement each other in an indefinable way. the universe, constantly expanding, and unfathomably grand; it's a beautiful mystery, just as love is. to love and be loved is risky, dangerous; it requires an enormous amount of trust to let someone else into your heart.
