The shelter was so graciously invited to our local Diwali event this year. The people in charge saw it as an opportunity to bring an unusual factor and knew the large crowd would provide many ample opportunities for the animals in the shelter to find a new home. We were more than happy to accept and have set up our own place near where most of the festivities will take place to showcase the many cats and dogs looking for a home at the shelter. We hope the celebration draws in many potential adopters with its masses.

What is their favorite metal and why?:
Oni's favorite metal is Bismuth. Oni can't wrap her head on what she's heard about it- brittle quality, glinting appearance.... it goes against everything she's ever known about a metal. More importantly however, Oni has heard stories of pure bismuth and it's elusive counterpart, "rainbow bismuth" (artificial bismuth). She's convinced both of these gleaming metals have special properties, aligning with Diwali's light-and-bright theme. Healing or witch-craft properties, she doesn't know, but it certainly appeals to her. In her mind, she imagines a glittery, opaque metal, facets in all the right places like a Diamond; a glittery ware that she can talk endlessly about to other dogs. So, if someone were to ever ask her what her favorite metal was, she would gladly answer with "Bismuth" and launch into a speech of why it's the best metal ever- without ever having seen it!

Personality:
Jumpy and excitable, Oni is nothing like her outward appearance. Her mind is always in two different places at the same time, and always wondering about trivial things. While she may have a resting death glare, it's in no way intended rudely; it's just her deep-thought-face. She often takes everything a dog says to heart, and will share any rumor or gossip she hears without second thought. She's a loyal friend, although she is a big blabber-er, and says the first thing that comes to mind- hurtful or not. She's a bit detached from the whole concept of "social expectation", frankly, and when faced with how much she knows about the world in general, she may as well be living under a rock. Nevertheless, she loves to learn and soaks up information like a sponge. To put it simply, she always has one ear open for a friend.. and the other for new sounds to explore!

What is their favorite metal and why?: Mercury/Liquid Silver. They love this Metal because it has two different ways it can be. Kind of like Mercury's crazy personality. Mercury loves how it can be a liquid, smooth and kind of like water. It's easier to mess with in that way. While the hard part of it isn't as much fun. It is hard to play with and is a pain, plus he can't break it, which makes him pretty angry.
Personality: Mercury has one of those odd and pretty off personality types. He actually has the Mulitple personality disorder. It isn't seen in most any animal. Really it's in all animals, with them having kind of different sides, but within Mercury, he was two sides that don't even make sense to go with one another. He has his cool, calm, and collective side, that goes with the liquid side of the metal mercury. During this side of his personality, he will be quiet and calm, not doing most anything. All he does is either sleep or tussle with the pups. Which doesn't get him that worked up about anything.
Now his other side. The hard, uptight, and angry Mercury, which goes with the hard side of the metal mercury. Mercury can get quite angry about many things and it can get out of hand quickly. He has once got in a fight with penne because there was just one little issue with something, but Mercury didn't like it. Then dealing with the uptight side of Mercury, he gets extremely anxious. A lot of people have the angry uptight, but he gets pretty anxious. It's hard to get him calmed down from these events, but you just have to wrap him up in a blanket to calm him down most of the time.

What is their favorite metal and why?: Aluminum, he enjoys the sound it makes with empty cans. It is pretty easy to find cans littering the ground anywhere he goes so he is never on a shortage of toys to play with. It is quite common at night to hear the skittering of cans across the stone walkways. Older children like to tell tales of a spooky ghost walking around at night with rattling chains, to frighten the youngsters. When Anu goes bouncing past after a can he just sent spinning end over end, it isn't uncommon for the streets to clear of children, thinking it was the spooky ghost.
Backstory:
.....Anu chases the silver glinting can with glee, it spins and bounces making a hollow clinking sound as it jumps over rocks or raised stones. The hound is one living on the streets, he has been since he was a pup, and the only toys he can come across are pieces of trash. The cans are his favourite as they make pleasant noises when he plays with them.

.....He has on more than one occasion cut himself on the aluminum when hard play has crushed the thin metal to the point of splitting. After this happens he moves on to find a new can, which is never hard to come across with how often people litter.

.....Between bouts of play he hunts or begs for scraps becoming quite the accomplished beggar among the other canines. His golden eyes and regal disposition seem to draw people to him like moths to a flame. Not enough to take him in of course but he is happy in his current lot in life.

.....It was during a celebration that things changed there were bright colours and lights everywhere. An old woman who fed him often had given him the usual meat scraps but also a dusting of gold on his head to match his eyes. He was surprised when her fingers first touched his brow but he didn’t move away from the food. There were other hungry eyes staring at him as he chewed after all.

.....He was so focused on scarfing down his supper that he didn’t see the shelter workers coming around the side of the house. It wasn’t an easy thing but they managed to wrangle him into a comfortable crate located in the back of a vehicle. The kind old woman waved him goodbye hoping she made the right choice in getting the kind dog off the street. He wasn’t the first she had helped rehome and most certainly not the last.

.....He didn’t take well to the shelter life at first, remaining surly and aloof most days. Potential adopters had little interest in the dog who flashed teeth or positioned his back to them. He stays there for about a year never quite fitting in, but refusing to accept the strangers.

.....When the shelter was invited to the Diwali festival they decided to take him along, as the location of the festival was where he used to live. The old woman came by to visit the noble hound giving him a few sneaky scraps of meat and dusting his head for a second time in gold. The shelter workers remarked at how it was the most attentive they’d seen him be since they took him in. She smiled at them reassuringly, “I have a good feeling about this one, I think he’ll find his home this time around.”

.....Later that day Anu is still trying his best to ignore the people who stop in front of his temporary kennel, leaning to one side or the other to look around them. People find it funny at first but when he continues to look through them at the activity elsewhere they grow frustrated before moving on to the more attentive animals.

.....This tactic works until a gruff voice has Anu glancing towards a man making his was down the line of animals. The hound watches as he talks to each animal in turn offering a hand to sniff, though he doesn’t seem satisfied with most of them. When he reaches the black hound’s own resting spot he reads the little information chart clipped on the door.

.....“Anubis, huh?” he mutters dropping his gaze to the canine, “seems fitting.”

.....Anu tries to ignore him like the other humans but the man just stands there unmoving. When golden eyes finally look up at his face he smirks, and kneels down to the canine’s level. The man offers an outstretched hand for investigation The dog hesitates before his curiosity slowly sticks his nose out to sniff.

.....“I think we’ll get along fine, eh?” the guy says before standing.

.....He turns to look for a worker but he didn’t have to look far with a number of them standing around staring at him with clear surprise. He furrows his brow confused by their reaction until someone steps forward with the adoption paperwork explaining Anu’s story while his newfound owner scribbles out his information.

Collar: Beautiful hand made collar with a variety of pastel blues, greens, and yellows. Made out of a very soft yarn that never scratches or hurts Anubis. Very beautiful and expensive. Made in Eqypt, very authentic. With a chalk copper charm with his name carved into it.
What is their favorite metal and why?: Copper; Anubis is Extermely fascinated in how this metal changed color over time. The size almost never warps, making it one of the strongest metals. The Statue of Liberty is made out of copper, and was once a beautiful, shiney copper. Yet, over the years, it’s color has changed to a light green. Copper is such a beautiful color, and is adored by Anubis.

What is their favorite metal and why?: Devarda's favorite metal is a common one can't help but catch his attention, gold. Maybe its the bright color or value of the ore but he loves it. So much so he tries to surround himself in it, everything he likes and collects contains so range of gold color or metal. His friends joke that its due to being a Pharaoh Hound he can't help but love it. Maybe it is in his blood to be drawn to the bright metal or maybe its just coincidence.

What is their favorite metal and why?: Gold and here's why. The reasons why he likes gold is because first of all he loves the song Heart of Gold and it reminds of summer time and he LOVES summer because he can swim in that time (He could in spring but not in the beginning and he's an impatient boy) and another thing he loves other than swimming is the sun it and the gold reminds him of the sun itself. He also just likes the feeling and look of gold, but he never understood why though.
