"This diction conjunction on the airwave announcements will conduct this exact test, without prejudice, under the judgements of the soul,the mind,the body,the positive,the negative,the ground,the proton,the neutron,the electron,the yin,the yang,the young,the sun,the moon,the stars,the man,the woman,the child,the appointed,the defendant,the judgement,the Father,the Son,the Holy Spirit,the past,the present..."
You would think something soft would be in an innocent setting, that anyone with a heart would protect a floof with their lives...not in this world.
Gordan lives in a rocky, abandoned world, with many sharp edges. There is little to no life upon it, due to the atmospheres gas levels of protecting the suns rays a little over the top. There are few rivers, which have about the only food source to come by, unless you are a main predator. But how could something so furry be in a world of thorns? It begins with Gordon being brought over by his space traveler. They soon became departed after a dust storm, leaving himself to the unknown. The mysterious of the world had Gordon in its hands to experiment on. He used to be a short bred, but through many encounters with objects that are dangerous, his body evolved. The atmosphere was originally used to hard, pointing, shards but Gordon was a weird fleshy, furry animal. Instead of sharpening, it fluffed. His hair quickly grew out, either from getting tired of bandaids or from the science of the atmospheres gases. Gordon now doesn't have to worry about bumping into anything, his fur is like a shield! The only problem with it is that he needs to groom it often...

Journal
Entry 1
3/23
Its seems me and my comrade has been separated...I do miss him dearly, the poor chap. Hopefully I can find him again.
~~~~~
The world is a spooky place at night, dark and foreboding. Weird sounds and crystal are coming all around me, but I believe I am safe. I have hidden myself in a cave. Waiting till morning.
Entry 2
3/24
The light is misty, like a shadow trying to block it out. Looking for my partner.
Entry 3
3/27
I have been searching for a while now, almost the fourth night... The world is more dangerous than I thought. I haven't gotten time to write anymore, always having to watch my back. Who knows whats around the sharp corners.
Entry 4
4/3
I have noticed something weird. There is not a bit of plant life that is green, but planet life that is half alive. Trees don't have leaves, flowers don't have petals. I have also noticed no sign of any life, but I am sure there is after hearing the noise I hear at night. By the way, my fur is growing at a rapid rate! Ugh, hope I get to my partner soon to tell him I need a hair cut.
Entry 5
4/5
My fur has seems to slow down a bit, but it is a bit hard to walk. Feels like a have over dosed on truffles! When I meet my partner I will explain I am not fat, just..a little husky.
Entry 6
4/17
Its been a while now...My food is getting low from the supply bag I got before the storm. I don't know if I will have enough for the journey ahead.
Entry 7
4/21
I have ran out of food, water is about done too. Woe is me.
Entry 8
4/22
My life has been saved! I have found a small stream, its color unnaturally white, but I believe it is drinkable. I have noticed some weird species of what appears to be crabs living in the banks. After catching and cooking one, I think it might rival sushi. Hopefully I get to tell my partner about this!
Entry 9
5/13
Its been lonely, but I believe I've made a few friends. The night animals came to me after seeing me light a fire. Weird creatures indeed. My partner will be so pleased!
Entry 10
5/15
Well, I am leaving this journal to a close. My life around me in this new environment must be worked on to help me find my partner. Maybe on day I can organize a town and become mayor. Sigh, if only my partner could see me now.
happysparrow ~ Maddox ~ Male
Maddox's World wrote:Maddox's world is quite different from any other Kalons - a world which is small, and quiet, and clean. It's a gentle world where nothing is spoken above a whisper, and anything loud is treated as a threat. It is blindingly white and purely colored - other than the Kalons inhabiting it, there is not a speck of color the entire world over. Maddox's world is peaceful. It is small. And it is nothing more than a tiny ball of lint that just so happened to fall behind a dryer.
Of course, Maddox and the rest of the Cottonball Citizens know nothing of this. They believe the forests of fluffy white trees and endless oceans of vast colorless wasteland are eternal and all, that there is nothing beyond the blindingly bright oasis other than the Great Whiskered Goddess. After all, it's quite illegal to cause trouble by dreaming of anything larger, and any violators of this are treated just as harshly as those who disturb the peace of quiet. This is never too much of a problem, as all the Kalons in the community are rather content with their lives and viewing only that which was in front of them. Did they have any need for dreams, when living in such perfection? Was there need for anything beyond what beauty they had?
Maddox believed so. The young teacher yearned for something more than the vast fields and occasional muffled whirring from the Beyond. He fully believed that there was more to life than what was presented, and he was eager to find it; however, as a rule follower, he didn't dare to disturb the peace of the world. At night, however, when the air is silent and the sky darkens, Maddox likes to sit beneath the large expanse of pure white trees and stare up, wondering what could possibly be beyond Cottonball. Was there anything beyond this bland, boring landscape? Anything at all?
Having explored the entire world over during his free time, Maddox discovered that there were only a pawful of landscapes. There was the Cottonball Common, which housed the entirety of the snowy atmosphere that was, as name suggested, the most common. Next, there was what Maddox dubbed The Borders. This was one large blockade that seemed to dictate the end of the world - it was a dusty green, and taller than what Maddox could see past. Finally, there was the Tiled Lands. This, Maddox had decided, was the other border of the world. It ended the Cottonball Common abruptly, slowly flowing out into a sea of darkened brown tile. This, like The Borders, was absolutely endless. While proof suggested that this was all their was, Maddox plans to one day gather enough supplies to sail out across the Tiled Lands to see if he can find other civilizations.
How the World Runs wrote:Government Cottonball is run by a pawful of Kalons called the Defenders. It is a group known for their intellect and strength, who can not only be depended on for decision making, but also for defending the world if need be. They are also the enforcers of the law, and the ones who choose the punishments. While some Kalons can earn the rank of Defender, it is usually a role that a kit is born into. This way, they can be trained from a very early age in the way of governing and leading. It keeps from many accidents happening, and tries to insure a smooth transition from retired to new leaders.
Law and Punishment There are not many laws in Cottonball, but the few that there are are enforced harshly. Most common sense laws, such as the laws against murder and theft, are in place, but there are also some that are not quite as common. These unusual laws include that no voice can come beyond a whisper, none may venture past the Tiled Sea without reason, all must aid in the work around town (including cleaning and raising of kits), and that none may invite any strangers onto the land. Small misdemeanors are first given a warning, then a stern lecture, then time in isolation. If these acts are continued or a more severe crime is committed, the Kalon is sentenced to exile beyond the Tiled Sea, and banished from the land of Cottonball.
Supplies It may have come up to the reader that perhaps it could be a bit difficult to get supplies to the micro world of Cottonball. It is certainly difficult, but not quite impossibles! Each morning, citizens of Cottonball venture out as far as they can dare to gather buckets of water from small puddles formed along the Tiled Sea. As for food, small pellets from the Great Whiskered Goddess across the Tiled Sea are often very mercifully whisked in the direction of Cottonball, and one pellet can feed the entire town for a year. As for building materials, wood can be found via splinters along The Borders, and anything else can be fashioned from a mixture of wood and white trees. The citizens of Cottonball are very creative individuals!
Marriages Marriages are only arranged when involving the Defenders, and all others are purely out of love and commitment. There is one chapel in which both officials and citizens get married, and it is a very cute little chapel indeed! It is showered with flowers fashioned of fur and white trees, and it is quite a sight to behold. Weddings often last over the course of several days,
and are the only times where citizens are permitted to be louder in celebration. Feasts often accompany weddings, as well as much dancing.
Religion The citizens of Cottonball are monotheists, believing in no more than one god. This god, or goddess in this matter, is The Great Whiskered Goddess. She is the one who makes a jingling bell noise whenever she approaches, and is the one to provide food and outside protection. Although no Kalon has seen her, with the exception of a handful of elders, none can dismiss the jingling and gentle war cry of meow that often sounds across the land.
More on Maddox wrote:This naturally quiet boyo is the only teacher in the entire world of Cottonball. Although he is even more soft spoken than what is normal and has an incredibly timid nature, Maddox is held as one of the most respected members of the community. His seemingly contradicting sense of adventure and vast knowledge make him popular among both adults and kits, and it has been more than once that the Defenders have considered adding him to their ranks (the only thing holding him back was the fact that he could never hurt a fly). Although he loves and respects his community and culture, his curiosity gets the best of him, and he often times wonders what more he could learn if he transferred to a larger school.
Now people ask what exactly is Meteli like? In Meteli trees are everywhere, if you look up them seem endless, you can't see the sky anywhere on this planet. you will never know whether its night or day. There are monsters at every turn, hiding in every nook they can find.. You will not survive if your not familiar with this world. While it is a very dangerous there is a large kingdom that currently resides in the smack dab middle of the word, and that is owned by King Isrium, the kingdom is called "Kingdom Of Cheadon". It's a massive town with walls that go all the way around the large and vastly growing kingdom, Everything there is made of wood and stone, it simple supplies that can be replaced in case a monster attacks.
Oh my gosh oh my gosh I never do Kalons anymore, but floof? And worldbuilding? Gah, excuse me while I panic and try to come up with something coherent
World
Kjiav wrote:When I walk through my land, the air is cold and the ground covered with rough stones. They might hurt my feet, had I not developed heavy calluses on my pawpads years ago. This land is my home, all of the flat expanses and tall crags, the frigid streams and circling birds, the bright eyes of nocturnal creatures far ahead, the empty dome of the sky so far above. I know nothing else.
General
Kjiav's world is actually a relatively small part of her planet, only a few dozen kilometers from one side to the other, and most of the land's populace is concentrated within the same five square kilometers. It's a canyon of sorts: a deep hole in the ground. A hole hundreds of kilometers deep. People from above, who live on the edges of the enormous canyon, say it looks like a giant's footprint. None of them know what lies at the bottom. None of Kjiav's people know what sits above; they don't even know that the world is any bigger than their little dip in the earth.
Within the hole, a population of thousands lives. People dwell on the floor of the hole, on the crags, and in the mess of caves just below the hole's bottom, but they avoid the cliffs for fear of rockfalls. The stone is the same all around: pale yellow and white. Jagged pillars of rock rise out of the hole like teeth, tiny mountains. Nighttime is perfectly black, and daytime perfectly white.
It seems like such a place might be barren, but it's not. The land, which is called Wajike, is at the water table. Rivers flow across the lowest parts, fueled by springs beneath the earth, and they've fostered an ecosystem with species completely unique to Wajike.
Some of its strangest denizens: meter-tall trees that grow in the rivers with red leaves as big as one's head; yellowish moss that Wajike people burn as incense; white, long-limbed rodents that eke out a living in rock crevices; enormous blue birds that sail across the skies at night, hunting down nocturnal antelope and deer and snakes; moose-like creatures weighed down by enormous antlers. 64 word sentence whoops
Kjiav wrote:It's taken me years to travel from the city of Ije all around Wajike. Everywhere I go is something new: a new creature to be written into my wildlife journal, an instrument I've never heard, a different dialect, a city beyond even my imaginings. I've tried to learn every language and document everything I've seen. I've made maps: regions, districts, cities, boroughs. One day I'll have mapped everything, and then, maybe I'll go beyond. What's really at the place where the walls melt into the sky?
Regions, Language, and Major Cities
The great hole's bottom can be divided into four main regions: the stark Highlands Region, with little water and empty plateaus; the Wajike Basin, which is warm and filled with rivers and fertile soil; the Crags, a rocky land with lots of crag-like rock formations and cave entrances going deep below the surface; and the Underland Region, the massive cave system under the surface of Wajike. Within each of these regions is three to five districts, each with its own magistrate ruler.
Most everyone speaks a dialect of the same language, and it's quite easy for someone who speaks one dialect to understand someone who speaks another. The Wajike Basin region alone has seven dialects, while there's only one Highlander dialect. Wajike language is sharp and rough and loud, like stones scraping against each other.
In Wajike, there are about five major cities: Ije and Kovkazdaj and Eivkaa in the Wajike Basin, Kjektivdaj in the Highlands, and Weijdaj in the Crags. The first three started as riverside farming villages, long ago, before they ballooned into trading hubs and cultural centers. They're surrounded by farms for kilometers upon kilometers. The Highlands city was once a crossroads for journeyers like Kjiav, but now it's become a permanent home for many. Kjektivdaj people are known for their hardiness and wealth of knowledge about the land around them. Weijdaj is where Wajike's rulers meet; it's a city built on one enormous crag of rock, filled with aristocrats and wealthy retired people.
Kjiav wrote:
    Never have I been fond of our rulers. Fat, rich men in stuffy clothing and binding ribbons, who've never experienced the life of a commoner. They call it a rule by judges; I call it an oligarchy, like the ones centuries back. They care for nothing but the preservation of themselves and the upper class. A revolution, of farmers, workers, and common folk, now that is what Wajike needs.
Government
Wajike is ruled by magistrates in a sort of plutocratic kritarchy: judges rule, and only the very rich have the means to become judges. Magistrates have absolute power to judge and govern, and each one rules their own district with little to no help from advisers and the general populace. The magistrates meet in an enormous building, the Avket, on the tallest crag, to change laws whenever they feel it's necessary. They dress in flowing green cloaks; their homes are filled with tapestries; they keep woolen bags filled with coins bouncing around their necks at all times.
All of the magistrates come from exceptionally rich families, and most of them are male. They often cut the rich a lot of slack, but have little sympathy for the problems of poor people, which leaves gaping class divides. Some peasants wear no clothes at all, even as aristocrats drape themselves in blue, gold, and green cloaks with Wajike and family emblems embroidered on them.
Kjiav wrote:In truth, gods do not create people. People create gods, like they create stories, because they need something to hold onto. I've found all kinds of religious folk on my travels, but the ones I remember are those that wrap themselves up in worship because it warms their broken hearts, who cling to their gods like toddlers cling to rotting blankets because there's nothing else for them to hold. I was that kind, back when I didn't know who I was yet, before I knew that I wanted to do nothing but wander and learn all that I could about people and the world they live in.
Religion
Wajike has two major religions, one which is more common in the Crags and Wajike Basin, and one which is more common in the Underland and the Highlands. People who don't believe in the dominant religion of their land are often discriminated against both by society and by their district's laws.
The first religion is the most popular: a millennias-old belief system with more than sixty deities. Its name is Jejika, and its followers believe that Wajike was created when the first eight gods came forth and built themselves into a world, destroying their godlike forms to create the base of the world. More gods came forth, then, to breathe life into the land and to place the sky above the world. They stay, now, wandering the earth. People believe that they are invisible, but that they hear and learn everything, even things said by birds high in the sky and people far below ground. Jejikans put valued objects in bodies of water as a way of worship, hoping the gods will notice them and their contributions. They believe that one in every five animals and one in every eight plants holds a spirit or lesser deity within it.
The second religion is monotheistic, called Wekiwek. Its followers worship at temples, which are built nearby caves and lakes, believed to be God's ears and eyes respectively. Wekiwekans sacrifice animals in those temples, then leave their heads on the perimeters of caves and lakes. They believe God pulled Wajike out of a void and pulled off all of their fur, leaving the clumps of fur in Wajike to grow into living creatures. Wekiwekans hold blue birds in very high regard, believing them to be divine messengers.
Kjiav wrote:As much as I love the creatures that mill about this land, and those long nights walking with nothing but the sky and ground in sight, and journaling, and silence, and aloneness, I do love the people. The way they talk and the way they do things. The songs they sing, the stories, the art, the communities that I never stay in for more than a month. But those communities have left marks all over me. I hope I've made marks on them, too.
Culture and Traditions
Wajike culture is different across the classes and regions and cities. Music, for example, is very important to Underlands people; almost all traditions involve them gathering in enormous cave chambers, bringing homemade drums and flute-like instruments, singing and playing so raucously their music can be heard from the surface. Wajike Basin farmers have dozens of folk tales about monsters rising from the rivers. No two towns, even, are the same.
In the Highlands Region, home to journeyers from all across Wajike and permanent residents famous for their hardiness, nearly everyone is a farmer, hunter, laborer, or drifter. Travelers contribute much to the cultures of the villages they pass through, sharing tales and hunting techniques that will forever remain with the people they met. Innumerable famed innovators and leaders and authors and artists have come from the Highlands.
They carve artwork into their homes and into the ground, depicting tales and histories with simple etchings. Highlanders are known for their durable, beautifully embroidered clothing; their storytellers; their methods of farming, cooking, and hunting unique to their families and villages; their affinity for meat; their clay pots; their tight-knit communities. Every family has at least one master storyteller who weaves tales about evil travelers and laborers rising against greedy rich employers and birds swooping down to carry away little children.
Even with everything they are, Highlanders are looked down upon as dirty, cultureless hillbillies with no appreciation for science, the arts, or literature.
Those in the Crags, especially Weijdaj people, are viewed as sophisticated, intelligent, and cultured. Crags folk have less community than any other groups; the things that bind them together are more trends and status symbols than anything. Everything they have is beautiful: perfectly wrought things carved from marble and gold and lapis; soft, fluttering, richly colored, intricately patterned fabrics sewn into cloaks; silken ribbons made by people who craft nothing but them; gorgeous jewelry made special for each buyer; homes with engravings professionally carved into the walls. The Crags is the land of the rich, but all their things are made by the poor.
In the Wajike Basin, a land of kind farmers, diligent workers, observant worshippers, and close communities, people live simple lives, but they are revered as Wajike's backbone nonetheless. They have plenty of resources: water, plants, wildlife, rich soil. Many coming-of-age and marriage ceremonies involve hunting parties, decadent feasts, and journeys through the Basin. People's clothes are well-made and durable, and their stories are rich.
Wajike Basin is best known, however, for being the only region to have wooden houses, the only region to make paintings from riverwater and pigment, and the only region to have domesticated pets: flightless, skinny birds that live on the banks and hunt for insects and small creatures. They are not the most musical region, but many of their fables are told through song. Everyone in a community will gather to hear the village bard sing histories and fairy tales. They also have plenty of delicious dishes, which even non-Basin people love. Most Wajike Basin ceremonies involve those involved bathing in water taken from rivers.
In the Underlands, food and resources are scarce. Most clothes are made from animal skins and furs; true fabric is rare. They use stone and metal tools to carve art into the cave walls and chisel statues straight out of the rock. Every person who grew up in the Underlands can say that they've contributed to the massive underground art museum, whether they carved a scene or made a statue of themselves, whether they told a story on a cave ceiling or chiseled an enormous replica of a city. People there aren't very private; they all live in the open, helping neighbors, sleeping next to acquaintances and family and strangers. They farm mushrooms and livestock in the caves, and they hunt through the tunnels for small cave-dwelling rodents and snakes.
What the Underlands is known best for, however, is its music. Trees from the surface are carved into all manner of drum, then covered with art. No two Underlands drums are the same. Underlanders sing, if they can't drum, or they dance, adorning themselves with golden coin necklaces and anklets that make beautiful sounds when their wearer moves. The Underlands is also known for its terrible food.
There is no one "Wajike culture". Each region has its own, and the districts within each region are different still.
Kjiav wrote:I think of myself as simple. I don't wear clothes, but I sometimes do weave a ribbon into my great cloud of fur; it makes me feel pretty. Nor do I really live in a house. I carry my home on my back, heavy sleeping wraps and a pad for me to lie down on. Sometimes I sleep under trees or in caves or in someone's home, though I never stay for long, because I think I'm somewhat of a ghost: floating from place to place, whispering through, talked of until I'm forgotten.
Clothing and Housing
Wajike people themselves live in houses painstakingly carved out of rock. The rich have their homes made out of soft blue stone mined from deep below the surface, and they have beautiful art engraved into their walls both inside and out. Their homes dot the jagged mountain-pillars, believed to be the homes of ghosts and lesser gods. Poorer people live in simple yellow-walled homes, often with multiple families in the same building. The poor and middle-class are farmers, miners, and other sorts of workers. They live all over the floor of the great hole. Furniture is made from carved stone and animal furs, but not feathers, because birds are seen as either too holy to be furniture or as unclean.
For clothing, the rich wear colorful, soft cloaks and ribbons wrapped around their legs. Some people of especially high status wrap ribbons around their fangs and paint their claws to fit the colors of their family. Especially fluffy fur is kept silky with moisturizing oils and plaited, often with ribbons braided in and multiple braids woven into each other. Jewelry is seen as sacred, crafted with one person and their appearance, wealth, personality, family, and social standing in mind. Resold jewelry is scoffed at.
Poor and middle-class folk, meanwhile, wear coarse, simple, dull fabric that can take a great beating. Most people patch their clothing when it rips or wears through, and rarely do peasants wear jewelry or ribbons. While their fur is held back to make it easier for them to work, peasants don't have the time or money for frivolous, colorful things. Most jewelry is highly personal, made as a gift for someone by their family.
Kjiav wrote:Sometimes I'll come across a library in a big town, or a little one, and I'll try to find books on what the world was like before. Try as I might, I can only document the world as it is now. Perhaps one day, when I'm turning to dust somewhere in the Highlands, my journals will help future people understand the world as it is now: my world.
History of Wajike
A long time back, hundreds of explorers made their way into Wajike over just a few decades. Many were so fascinated by the land and the creatures and the people there that they decided to stay.
It didn't matter either way; the narrow cave tunnels they'd traveled down had all been buried by rockfalls and time. So the people set up shop, carving their homes from stone, clumping into neighborhoods around water sources, building cities and farming and hunting.
Over the centuries, Wajike morphed from a land of tent cities and far-apart farms to a country with its own unique culture and religions and politics and people. Monarchic city-states turned to oligarchies that spanned entire regions, then to a feudalist monarchy in the Highlands Region and anarchy everywhere else, then to monarchic city-states, then to two theocratic oligarchies, then to the kritarchy that now lords over all of Wajike. The name comes from a Highlands king, Wajike IV.
As Wajike evolved, it went through war and peace, conquest and alliance, grey eras of starvation and golden eras of prosperity. But any Wajike denizen could tell you that the people stayed the same through all of it. They still drove their hoes into the hard earth, still gathered water at the rivers, still watched the wildlife, still cooked and sang, still prayed, still adventured, still grew and lived and died.
name; bodhi (means enlightenment)
gender; cismale
world; bodhi lived in a cruel, savage world. everything was covered in ice, and mountains loomed almost everywhere. the sun was blue and the moon was purple, making the days and nights equally dark. frost regularly fell from the clouds, which were always pitch black. monstrous creatures lived, such as the five-headed bear and the small but savage hawk-bat. survival of the fittest was the only way bodhi knew how to live. no one was friendly in his world, if he ever tried to talk to another kalon he would quickly be chased off. his claws were of good use, but inside he had a gentle soul, and knew he never really belonged in the world. he could only eat the glowing fish underneath the ice - no other prey was safe to eat. he yearned for something more in life than just hunting and surviving. when he was in his young adulthood, he decided to see if the rest of his world was like that, and set off to the north. as he walked, it slowly got warmer, and he had to frequently watch where he put his paws in fear of cracking the ice and drowning. kalons were more welcoming here, they had made tribes to help protect one another from the many dangers of their world. he ended up staying in one of these tribes as an guard - a protector of the young, old and weak. the elders told him stories about the sun, how it was once bright yellow and gave off warmth instead of frost. they told him of the silver moon, how there were large bodies of water called "oceans," and how there was green and brown covering most of their world. he believed each story, even if most others did not.
