hi im alexis.. im quite nervous around alot of things.. but im actually very nice and approachable.. my way of escape is my garden, i was very depressed around age 10-11. most people think im very over-dramatic due to me being 'depressed' at that age but honestly i dont know what else to call it.. i was bullied in school, i had family problems, and over all i didnt like who i was.. so i started gardening.. it helps me calm down.. my favorite plant is a rose.. once when i felt like nothing could get better i was watering my roses and.. i swear.. i.. i swear i saw a rose shine.. now every day i go back and try.. i try to see it again.. they saved me.. they helped me escape my depression.. i honestly cant explain it but they gave me a reason to keep going, i found my flower in the darkness.. i escaped

✿ Personality ✿ Aolani is often perceived as shy, though in reality, she isn’t. It's seldom that she finds people more engaging than the torrent of ideas swirling around her head, which are often related to poetry and designing escape rooms, her two passions. If you do form a relationship with her, however, it’s bound to be meaningful, but beware, for she often has trouble expressing her emotions. Aolani hates small talk, and often will skip straight to what she views as “important” questions: ones that, at first thought, have no meaning, but upon analysis, will reveal a lot about any given person.【100 words】

✿ Their ‘Escape’ ✿ My first escape was invigorating, thought-provoking, and had me hooked like a hungry fish on the end of a line, eagerly anticipating more bait. But it would be forever until I got to go again. You see, we lived far away from the city, and escape rooms were certainly not available in the countryside.
After that city trip, my every thought was filled with escape rooms. In my dreams I was locked up, but with my creativity, there was always a way out. In my free time, I brainstormed escape room layouts, filled with intriguing objects and engaging themes. “When I get out of here,” my young self thought, “I’m going to build the best escape rooms the world has ever seen!”
Unfortunately, reality got in the way of my fantastical childhood dreams. College came and went, and soon, after 8 years, I had two degrees, in architecture and professional writing. It killed me to not get to work on poetry during my years at school, but having a professional writing degree prepared me for my road ahead.
I started out working for a lifestyle blog, and a few years into it, it slipped out that I had a passion for escape rooms. The whole office came to the agreement that I “just had” to write something about an escape room. That’s when it really began. I went to the hottest new escape room in the city, and after solving it in 38 minutes, I ran right to my desk and began frantically typing out a review. I never felt so passionate about work or school as I did now. I fell asleep soon after, exhausted from the exciting day. The next morning, after downing my daily dose of caffeine, I reread my article, and changed a few things. At the time I wrote it, I felt like a crazed teenager going to their first concert, but that was most definitely not how I wanted to be portrayed by all my readers. With the revisions, it seemed good enough to send to my boss. Swoosh. It was sent!
The next day, my boss pulled me aside to talk to me. “I see huge potential with the avenue of escape rooms. In fact, I’d love to offer you your own page on the blog!” I was speechless, no words could come close to describing the happiness I felt. She laughed at my surprised expression. “Aren’t you going to respond to me?”
Deep breaths, Aolani. “I would love to take you up on this!”
And so it began. I started out locally, sampling all kinds of rooms, from the Titanic, to a wizard’s lair, you name it. As my page gained more popularity, I began to travel all over the country. It was the time of my life. Inspiration was running high, and my nights were often spent sketching new ideas for my escape rooms.
But travel is not for everyone, and it throughout the years, it certainly took a toll on me. Though I loved escape rooms more than anyone, I simply couldn’t keep at my job. I felt the need to be rooted in one place, which my job simply couldn’t give me. I didn’t know what to do. The day after quitting my job entirely, I went out for coffee with a good friend of mine, and a prior coworker. After pouring my heart out, she thought for a moment. Then, her eyes lit up. “Isn’t’ it obvious, Aolani? Your calling is to own an escape room building!” After debating it for a moment, I jumped out of the chair and hugged her.
“Would you like to run it with me?” I questioned, but she turned me down. “I’d love to, but I think this is something you have to do yourself.”
A month later, I had a building, and a truckload full of materials to start my first escape room. I had racked up quite the sum of cash from my blog page, so I certainly had enough capital to start. As the rooms became filled with tricky hands-on puzzles of all kinds, I knew there was no escape. This was my life now. And I loved it.【700 words】

✿ The Escape Room ✿

From nothing
Comes everything
Black
To white
Complete bombardment of the senses
No hay tiempo,
Debo apurarme

I scramble,
My mind a well oiled machine
Gears turning like clockwork
As I slowly begin to make sense
Of this alien world
El reloj está marcando
Pero en esta batalla contra el tiempo
Ganaré

New doors open
Each an opportunity to solve a puzzle,
Find a solution,
And break free
Creativity will always find a way
One last light
One final click
And the two doors that restrained me
Have given me wings
To break free and soar
【96 words】
✿ Art Extra ✿ Felting is a form of art in which the artist will take unspun wool, called roving, and repeatedly poke it with a barbed needle. This will shape the wool, and with an endless array of colors (like the sparkly white I used for her hair!), you can create anything you set your mind to.

to talk to others. Her communication is only to her frie-
    nds
and commissioners. She is highly distant due to her
job as a hacker. It really never let's her be social. She
easily is very silent and sneaky. When going off the grid,
she had to just remain careful so it comes naturally to
her to be very silent and sneaky. Varda is secretive as
well. She always seems to be picking up false identities
every few months so she is always secretive about her
    true identity.

"name": Juliette Ross | location: warm waters, ny
Her mind rushed with thoughts. They kept on fighting to still be above the surface of the other thoughts. The common ones were:
"They're coming, run from them!" "Stay hidden, don't worry about them." "No one will believe your lies so run!"

Varda was a hacker so staying in one place for long was rare and she easily had these thoughts. It was another one of those events for her and her friend didn't text her yet if the authorities were on her trail. She has many friends that seemed to allow her to hack away then warn her when to go off the grid.

She glanced around at her computer. A list of commissions were on there so she had to complete it before going off the grid. She needed to complete that soon because she knew what was going to happen soon.

"name": Lily Evans | location: salt water, ut
She had been there for a few months and her friends were telling her that she needed to leave soon. Her list was still full, but they all were simple to the point where it wouldn't take a while. All payments have been accepted and sent to her friends to send around until she got a new identity, stolen or fake. Her friends always kept a bit as "payment" so she is supposedly fine by it, but she's not fine by it and it annoys her deeply.

"name": Helen Webster | location: new york, ny
Her mind was buzzing with the warnings from her friends. The warning caused her to started packing for a bit. She was packing anything light that couldn't be tracked, a blanket, pillow, her favorite book and some cash for anything she might need.

She placed an USB flash drive into her computer before leaving. She shut down the computer after all files were loading onto it. Varda wrote down a note to taunt the authorities and lead them off her trail.

"name": Sarah Smith | location: sitka, ak
She is getting really annoyed with her "job." She's been running from the authorities for years since she was sixteen. The pressure from it was getting to her, and her work was getting slower and slower due to this.

She's been doing research for a new life that she could easily pick up. She's found what she was looking for and planned on moving in to an apartment. She knew where she was going a friendly town in Oregon. This would be where no fake identities will follow her anymore. She will be Varda Xi for the rest of her days.

She comes across as cold hearted and blunt to most, with a cynicism for the world that seems unrivaled. Her intelligence gives her the edge of being one step ahead of everybody. She’s strategic in the ways she interacts with others by manipulating their emotions. In the blink of an eye she becomes anyone she needs to be: charming, alluring, or kind. Yet inside she is a broken shell of herself. The walls that have hardened around her keep others from seeing the fearful and saddened woman beneath. Weakness is her enemy, and she will do anything to squash it.

ᴛʜᴇɪʀ 'ᴇsᴄᴀᴘᴇ'

Her mother used to explain love like a glass flower. Beautiful in sight and fragile to the touch. She said that everyone started out with their own unique flower that’s polished and new ready to be exchanged with another. When someone gives you their flower you must be careful not to drop it, for it can shatter so easily. Sometimes, her mother warned, they’re unable to be put back together. Sometimes there’s just too many pieces.

This lesson stuck with Calypso for many years. The day she gave her metaphorical flower to her soul mate was the day she put her heart in another’s hands. It was cherished for a while as the love ran deep. Yet in the end, her partner betrayed her, and the glass flower shattered just like her mother said it would. Into millions of tiny pieces. That day she grew bitter and jaded from the heartbreak, vowing her revenge.

Calypso came into the company of a pirate captain who claimed he could help the poor woman. In her sadness and rage she accepted his offer unaware of the circumstances. With the pirate’s assistance she tracked down her former lover and took from him everything he cared about: money, reputation, and pride.

The result was satisfying but the hole in her heart was still present. Her flower was unfixable.

She thanked the pirate for his help with the intent to return home, but he reminded her of the contract she signed when taking his help. It read in black ink that her life was now indebted to him. She was to serve twelve years under his command until her debt was repaid. Calypso knew then she was a fool, betrayed twice by men.

In order to repay the pirate, she took to the mainland as an informant gathering important intel for his travels and raids. However, he told her that she could repay her debt sooner by leading the life of an assassin… and so she did. Calypso was forced to take every job he needed, but also took some of her own on the side to make a living.

Her life had become a prison.

No matter where she went or what she did, the pirate captain always knew how to find her. He had eyes and ears everywhere from others who also sold their souls. The only escape she found was within her dreams at night when she lay to rest. A place where no one else could go. Somewhere she couldn’t be betrayed, manipulated, and shamed. Her dreams were a sanctuary of beauty that continued to give her hope.

She could see her mother in her dreams, just as beautiful as she remembered, and be able to walk once again in the open flower fields behind her childhood home. Sometimes she swore she could smell the pine trees from the mountains. Most dreams took her back here, but others sent her into a future much brighter than her own. It was filled with love and laughter from a family held strong. If she thought about it hard enough she could almost feel the presence of another behind her wrapped in a warm embrace.

Her dreams were also full of adventures all her own. Whether it was exploring the icy caves of Arlasia or meeting the royalty of Catalan it all lifted her heart to new heights. Her favorite dreams involved flying; soaring through the air like a bird without a chain, without limits. She would glide over the vast oceans into the great beyond that lingered on the horizon. Other dreams were of great battles and victories. In here, she was more powerful than any man or woman.

In her dreams, she was free.

personality: (100 word max) At first encounter, Caroline is cold, unforgiving and somewhat arrogant. But as you start to move closer to her, she turns loving, sarcastic and most of all determined. Determined to make others recognize her talent. And determined to not be left behind. No matter how hard she’s fallen, Caroline fights until she is at the top once more. In all that, Caroline can be slightly cold because while immersed in baking, she sometimes forgets the ways of the world. But a simple smile, bow and offer of a cupcake is how Caroline operates.

Their ‘Escape': Ever since Caroline was a child, baking was in her blood with her parents being world-class bakers. When she was 4, Caroline could remember the smells of freshly baked bread wafting throughout the house and strange faces crowding around the island table. Growing up there changed Caroline to be a proper heiress of the Ilura fortune. At the age of 7, she has mastered the art of the soufflé. Proclaimed a child prodigy, food magazines swarmed her house, eager for an interview. There was no privacy because now, the whole Ilura family was well-known for their baking talent.

At the age of 15, Caroline ran a bakery. With full-time staff and a regular clientele, it flourished. Right after school, Caroline went there and started to run the whole bakery by herself. This was when crowds appeared because they loved to see the child prodigy in action, expertly whipping up frosting like they were clouds. They would line up alongside the window, admiring the girl’s work. The shop was soon filled with beautiful cupcakes, hearty loaves of bread and countless other goods, all produced by Caroline herself. To her, the hired help was only a replacement of her skills. This was how it was every day and Caroline worked to the bone to keep her bakery open. At home, her parents were managing their countless shops, too busy to hug or kiss Caroline. There was always something in the oven, someone unfamiliar crouching over the island table, discussing with her parents about this and that. No matter how old she had grown, to Caroline in the kitchen, she still felt like a toddler peering up at the adults around her.

Suddenly, the world came crashing down. Macarons no longer produced little feet for Caroline. Frosting just refused to whip up for her. Deemed a failure by critics, Caroline ran away, too ashamed to face her parents for what good was an Ilura daughter who couldn’t bake.

For the first night, Caroline stopped, looked up and saw stars. All around her lived these stars shining bright in the dark, desperate world of baking. She thought she was part of that constellation, shining bright but, she was just a glimmer of light, trying to shine in a messy world. Collapsing, Caroline took a breath and for the first time, felt uneasy. No matter how far she ran, how unskilled she became, she could never escape baking.

As the weeks passed, that uneasiness consumed Caroline. There was uncontrollable rage inside her. Reaching inside her satchel, desperate for something that could calm her down and she pulled out a whisk. The rage dipped down. There was something about baking that calmed her. But that was impossible! She was trying to escape from the grasps of the baking world!

Caroline had one memory flashback to her suddenly. Her parents were fighting with an unknown face. As she cowered in the corner, there were words like rage and Caroline flying. Her parents pointed angrily around the kitchen. But the unknown face kept shaking their head. Then there were words like skill. Looking through the window, now Caroline understood. Her parents had fought to make sure that Caroline would never be able to escape from baking because without it, her rage would become uncontrollable. Those failure were fate for they told Caroline she couldn’t escape from baking. It was because baking was her escape. The escape from her rage, her flaws, it gave her everything she had ever known. With that, Caroline headed out back home to hug and kiss her parents. She had grown from the little toddler but now was an equal twinkling star.
