kalon name: Nodrin
personality: Nodrin is a shy, anxious Kalon. He is very hesitant to do certain things, especially without planning. He has many layers, each one difficult to peel back, with the next layer a new puzzle. On the inside, he is a sweet tender Kalon. But he can come off as rude and pompous due to avoiding people.
their 'escape': 697 words Nodrin escapes his anxiety and stress by watercolor painting. His life may not be exactly hectic, but it gives him more than enough to deal with. He's not the best at doing it, but it's soothing. The brush strokes come so easily to him, and he can take his mind off other things by concentrating on his brush strokes. Slow and steady wins the race, yeah? When he plans out what he's going to draw, the planning isn't rushed or stresses him to have it be perfect so others are happy. This is his art, not someone else's. Nobody needs to see and judge. He is his own master at art, and can do what he pleases. When he simply brushes randomly, no critiques come in and label it, say he must be on drugs, say it has no meaning or berate him. He's in his own little space, doing what he enjoys for himself. Not the other way around.

Placing the fruit down on the table in front of him, he plopped down on the cushion. He hadn't even started, but already he was feeling calmer. Picking up the paint tube, he placed blue, red, and yellow onto the palette. Then his pencil was next, and began to sketch the outline and finner details of the bell pepper in front of him. Quickly he swirled the water and green together until it was a light color, then began to paint inwards to the stem. Now he used the deeper green, outlining the groves and bumps of the pepper. Now he was filling it out, adding a bit of blue to his mixed yellow and blue. Now the deepest grooves were outlined. The stem he added a bit more blue, and began to work on it. The stem seemed strange, and he wanted to work on it, but the page was too wet. If he added water now, the paper would bend and contort when it dried. He'll just have to leave it for now.

His wall slowly began to be covered with paintings of fruits and flowers, a block of color blemishing expansive white. A few animals decorated it as well, a squirrel and cow only a few inches away from each other. Insects also called the wall their home as well. A green moth and a blue speckled dragonfly were by the edges of the block of color. He stared at his first few paintings. An ugly and distorted cat stared at him, followed by some unappealing blueberries. Definitely not edible. A poor mangled house sat sadly in a green field. But, he had improved. His most recent, the bell pepper, had turned out well. He even had the courage to share it with his grandmother. She'd loved it and demanded he show it to her next time he visited. With the wrath of his granny looming over his head, there was no way he was going to forget the painting. Maybe he should post it online for critique? No no no that wouldn't work. But... his improvement was on its last skinny legs. And he needed to make friends. He didn't have a whole lot, just two. And granny was one of them. Even though the messed up part of his anxious brain said no, his heart said yes. As much as he loved painting, it couldn't quite fill the lonely hole in his heart.

Oh, someone had messaged him. Oh nononono no what if they didn't like him or his art? But, he couldn't just ignore it! Clicking it, he quickly sped read through the message. It was just someone saying hello and how to improve his art with links to reference and tutorials, as well as links to cheap good art supplies. Replying thank you, he anxiously typed in last minute, would you mind critiquing my art in the future?

He'd managed to make a friend. He no longer had just his art to escape. Polite, sweet, friendly and hyper, the user RedGladiotor had quickly become his best friend. RG was always open to talking, letting him vent. How was he so lucky to have such a kind person for an escape?
