Why do you want this viscet? I love the design on this babe. I fell in love the moment I saw them. I would love to develop them even more and maybe do some comics of them and short stories. :

I have to admit: I love this legendary mutation. Before the first one of this kind had been made (as in, Malloria), I've imagined the possibility of insect-winged Viscets coming up one day, seeing as we already have feather-winged Viscets. I didn't really feel confident enough to suggest that in the Suggestions Thread, and it wasn't something I particularly need to see. I just thought that insect-winged Viscets might be an interesting addition. Of course, in my head, I imagined them to be like a dragonfly's or a butterfly's wings. So, naturally, I was quite surprised when the insect-winged legendary was released. I didn't try out because I was too busy to keep out with the round-based system of the competition (and to be honest, I don't do well with round-based competitions, too, seeing as I change my mind a lot and would cause inconsistencies between rounds XD). So, when I saw this little one up for adoption, I jumped at the chance.

Anyways, onto this particular Viscet. I love the character of Malloria, and had stalked Malloria's profile. I wasn't really interested to send a breeding offer, and to be honest, I was kind of too shy to send one, too. And, now that there is this opportunity to win an insect-winged Viscling, I've realized how exciting the idea of another insane, evil Viscling would be in my world. I also want to have a Viscet with family relations to another person's Viscets for once, as it would add more depth to a character. I've already got Keira (an insane, psychotic Viscling) in my world, and I thought that creating a similar, yet contrasting foil to her would be an interesting challenge and add greater depths to my world. My Viscling Keira is a murderous Viscling with a deranged sense of reality. Her soul is corrupted due to the fact that her soul wasn't reaped properly during her death. Keira is more selfish, more delusional, and more savage. She kills for various reasons: to wipe out criminals when she first started out, to wiping out the weak people, and even to the extent of killing for amusement. I wanted to make a sort of foil for her, and what with this Viscling's family, I think I've found the perfect opportunity. Karako will be more refined, more idealistic, and more "selfless" with his goals, yet still as dangerous and insane as Keira.

At first glance, Karako appears to be a polite, sociable Viscling. He seems pretty carefree and laid-back, although quite mature in his way of speaking. He has a charming attitude and is very intelligent with his words. Karako is helpful and friendly. He is kindhearted to all and is always, always willing to lend out a helping paw, a mere shoulder to cry on, or even his ears just to listen to your problems. And the best part of all, Karako does all of this with a smile. A carefree smile can always be seen on his friendly face. Clearly, Karako is the type of outgoing Viscling who you'd think would have many, many friends. That is the case, most of the time, seeing that Karako can often be found mingling in a group of Viscets while having a good time. He is quite a witty jokester, too, and has a good sense of humor. His attitude alone could instill a sense of calmness in the middle of a stressful situation, as he remains upbeat and sensible in most situations.

However, Karako is often very self-depreciating. He often calls himself "a simple servant of the world", and he claims that his entire existence would be meaningless had he not believed that dreams could come true. Karako often reprimands himself quite loudly, and jokes about his weaknesses a lot, most of them insect-based jokes. Still, he remains very appreciative and would compliment and even praise the talents of others. He often compares them to himself while doing so, claiming that he's "always been a disappointment" towards others. Still, with all those smiles surrounding him and the words of high praise often attributed to Karako, one could wonder how exactly is this charming, kind young one a "disappointment" towards others?

However, that charming, carefree Viscling is just a facade. Karako's heart is almost as dark as his mother Malloria's. A zealous of his ideals, Karako will pursue them with any means. Killing and torture is not out of the equation. Karako believes with all his heart that dreams hold power. He is truly an idealistic dreamer at heart, only taken to darker, more malicious extremes. Karako wants a world where everyone is free to dream and pursue their dreams. He thinks of those who inhibits others as "tyrants", and they should be punished for their tyranny in order for the dreamers of the world to roam free and pursue their dreams without being shot down at every turn. Despite the darkness in his heart, Karako feels deep hurt for those whose dreams are shattered by others. However, he also feels disgust for people who give up on their dreams, viewing them as "weak". While Karako's optimistic self-depreciation seems to be a facade, he truly thinks of himself as a weakling who can't do anything right. The only thing he has that he can rely on is his big, extravagant dreams. Those ambitions fuel him and keeps him alive. Karako is extremely intelligent, despite being a child. He is a very charming and persuasive liar, endearing him to people and causing him to have a whole legion of followers following his "cult".

When it comes to his beliefs, Karako is delusional to the point of insanity. Nothing will be allowed to get in the way of his ambitions, and he'll go to great lengths just to achieve those ambitions. When properly motivated, Karako can have a quite disturbing way of talking and acting. When his mask cracks, his obsession of creating a world where dreamers can dream can be borderline creepy. He would even be supportive of people whose dream is to kill or defeat Karako himself, though Karako would try his best to survive (and his legion of followers would probably try to eliminate those people outside of his orders anyway). Throughout all this, Karako remains disturbingly optimistic. He brushes off death as a "sacrifice for a better world" and does horrible things with a carefree smile on his face. While he continues to call himself weak, however, he does secretly dream to be admired by people. Karako wants to be a Viscling who could change the world.

Part 1
From the moment he hatched from his egg, and those fragile wings fluttered on Karako's little back, he was destined for greatness. Or, at least, that's what Malloria believed. A son from two powerful magic-users, herself and Shafre, surely he'd inherit their magical talent? Perhaps even more so than Roc, his half-brother. The sheen of those luminescent wings were promising, as if they said "this child would surely soar to greatness".

And Karako indeed soared to great heights. Only, not in the way anyone expected.

Karako had a great beginning. The newest pride and joy of Malloria, she spoiled him. It was a great life. Karako played all day, showered with love and affection from his mother. His mother showed him the wonders of magic, saying "One day, Karako, you can use it yourself!" And since then, it had been Karako's greatest wish to be good at magic. No, he had to be good at magic. His mother had high expectations of him, how could he possibly let her down? Young as he was, Karako secretly pored over books about magic. He didn't let Malloria nor anyone else know about his secret reading sessions. I'll surprise her, Karako repeated over and over in his head as his precocious young mind absorbed more knowledge of magic. When I'm old enough to learn magic, I'm going to surprise Mom!

It was an ironic and cruel fate that those words Karako repeated over and over again came true, but not in the way Karako expected.

When he was old enough to start showing some signs of magical potential, Malloria decided to start training him in the ways of the dark witchcraft. "Remember, Karako," Malloria said, oh so many times. "White witches are rotten creatures. They deserve to die. If you learn magic, you can help Mommy change the world. We can get rid of those white witches."
Change the world.
That phrase sparked something in Karako's mind. He didn't just want to learn magic and be good at it anymore. No, he wanted to learn magic to change the world, just like his Mommy. Karako thought he was a special child, what with his wings and all. Surely he could also change the world with magic? "I have high expectations of you, Karako," Malloria said.
"Yes, Mommy," Karako replied, obediently.
While those dreams and fantasies of flying around the world and eradicating white witches filled his head, reality was oh so much more cruel. Karako had nearly no talent of magic. Malloria tried hard to teach him. "No," she said, trying to contain the exasperation in her voice. "You have to do it like this." Compared to Roc's vibrant explosions of magic, Karako was nothing. His magic only came out in spurts, no matter how hard he tried. "Try harder!" Malloria hissed.
"I'm trying, Mommy!"
Over and over again, Karako pushed himself to his limit. His muscles strained, his wings fluttered rapidly like an insect caught in a trap... But, still, his magical talent was abnormally low. What with Malloria's magical talent and Shafre's... well, entire existence, Karako seemed to be like an alien child. Still, he tried. And tried. And kept on trying. Soon enough, Malloria grew impatient with him

"Pathetic," she scoffed, looking at the pitiful display of magic. "You consider yourself our child? This is not what a child of mine should only be able to do."
"I'm sorry, Mommy," Karako said, tears in his eyes. "I'll try harder, I promise."
Determined to keep his promise, Karako kept trying. During the free times he could use for playing and having fun, he shut himself in instead, poring over books and books of magical theories and their application. Karako experimented on his own. He pushed himself, kept on pushing and pushing his limit. Yet, still, nothing changed. He was just as bad as magic. Malloria's words grew harsher and harsher still. "Stupid child," she hissed whenever he displayed his utter lack of talent. Her words were like knives, slicing through Karako's hopes and dreams. "Why on earth can't you be like your brother?"
"I don't know," Karako sobbed, crouching on the ground and trembling. His wings quivered and shook, like a helpless insect with no way out. He put his paws over his head as tears streaked down his fur. "I'll keep trying, Mommy. Please don't hurt me!" Please don't hate me was what Karako truly meant to say. The young child could see the flames of hatred in Malloria's eyes. She looked at him like a piece of garbage; a filthy insect unworthy of being related to Malloria and Shafre. She despised him; Karako just knew it. But maybe she'll love me again if I'm good at magic. I have to be good at magic to change the world!

Karako pushed himself to his breaking point. He lost sleep, and ate little. All for the sake of studying and studying magic. He refused to believe the words thrown to him. Stupid, worthless... If that was true, then why did he have wings when few other Viscets did? Why did Malloria like him before? Why was Shafre still continuing to watch his efforts in mild amusement? Why wasn't Malloria giving up on him just yet? However, the harder he tried, the more his dream was chipped away. He couldn't do it. He was just a worthless little insect who couldn't do anything. With every harsh word Malloria threw at him, and every harsh treatment she gave him, a small piece of his big dream died. And the joint practice sessions with Roc just made it worse. Karako admired Roc more than anyone else in the world. Maybe even more than Karako admired Malloria. At such a young age, Big Brother Roc could do such amazing displays of magic. Roc sneered at Karako's pathetic attempts at magic. And he's got every right to do so, Karako thought. Being the super awesome Viscet he is.

But seeing his brother perform such amazing magical feats without much thought nor effort... only made Karako realize that talent was something one had to be born with. No matter how hard Karako tried, all the tears, blood, and sweat he shed, he could never stand a chance against Roc. Roc was gifted from birth, a wonderful magic-user from the day he hatched. Unlike Karako, he was Malloria's favored child.

That realization utterly shattered Karako's dreams. How could he possibly hope to change the world when he couldn't even live up to Malloria's expectations?

I'll surprise her.

Oh, he did surprise her, indeed! What a surprise it was for Malloria to find out that her precious winged child... was nothing but a worthless, talentless insect.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Part 2

It was a day just like any others. Ever since Karako showed his lack of talent in magic, he was no longer that spoiled, beloved child. He spent his days wandering off on his own, contemplating on how to be as talented as his half-brother Roc and feeling like complete trash. Oh, the amazing, wonderful things he could do with his magic! Visions of Malloria's proud smile and eyes that gleamed with pleasure filled his mind. They were, of course, directed towards his talented half-brother, but still... If only Karako could, just once, have that same expression directed towards him. Despite the luminescence of his wings, he still lived under the shadow of the rest of his family. Karako's mind was a foggy mess of thoughts. The same self-deprecating words floated around his head. Stupid, weak, good-for-nothing... You're nothing like your brother. The Viscling shook his head. No matter how hard he tried, he still couldn't do it. He couldn't live up to his mother's expectations. Even his father, the only one who even remotely supported him, called him a weakling.

Well, whatever. Karako's accepted all those insults. The moment he took all those words to heart and believed in them, Karako felt a weight vanish from his mind. He really was worthless and talentless, and nothing he could do would change that fact. The only other option would be to just accept the truth and embrace it, right? So, that's what Karako did. Whenever his amazing brother would call him a pest, he would get out of his way with a smile. Whenever his mother threw insults at him, he would smile at her and agree with her every insult. Whatever anyone did to him, physically or emotionally, Karako only smiled and admitted the fact that he really was worthless. Still, there was a burning desire in Karako's heart. Despite all the world did to snuff out his dream, his determination only blazed brighter. Karako had thrown away his dreams of being good at magic, but the desire to change the world lingered within him. There was still something the worthless insect he was could do to change the world. Karako still had a dream.

As the young Viscling wandered farther and farther away from home, he found himself entering a forest. He had no idea how he got there, having been lost in his thoughts. Karako sighed. "Seriously, why do these things keep happening to me?" he muttered. His four paws lightly touched the ground as he closed his shimmering wings. The breeze rustled through the trees, filling Karako's nostrils with the scent of nature. He raised his front paw, and paused. Why should he cast a spell to find his way back home? It was a pleasant place. Mom and Dad wouldn't care if he walked around for a while. In fact, they wouldn't even care at all as long as he eventually returned home. A smile spread across Karako's face. The sun's light shining down on him, the gentle breeze, the sound of woodland creatures... They all seemed so free. Free from expectations, free from rules, free to choose their own path. As Karako ventured deeper into the forest, he suddenly stopped abruptly. Someone was nearby.

"Well, well, well... What have we got here?"
Karako turned. A roguish-looking Viscet towered over him. His eyes were filled with ruthless insanity, and his fur was disheveled. A creepy grin stretched over his face. "A Viscling with wings! My, my... I've never seen such wings before," he said. The Viscet whipped out a dagger. Karako backed away. His heart thumped loudly. Was this it? The end of his life? Was he just going to end this short, miserable life squashed like a worthless bug? "Mind if I take those wings?" the rogue asked, advancing upon Karako. Karako's lips peeled away in a snarl. No! No way! There was no way Karako would give up his wings. It was the only thing he had that he could be proud of. Karako's paws twitched, ready to cast a spell. Only... things didn't go the way he planned.

THWACK!

Eyes wide with shock, the rogue collapsed to the ground, revealing a dark Viscling standing behind him. Her orange eyes were wide, but completely devoid of the innocent sparkle that made a Viscling... a Viscling. Her eyes glinted with malice and sheer insanity. Pulling out the knife stabbed into the body of the rogue, she studied Karako. The moment both of their gazes met, Karako felt a chill rush through his body. The rogue that had threatened to cut off his wings... laid dead before him. Dead, and in such an appalling way. Just like that. And it was all because of the girl standing before him. The dark aura that emanated from the Viscling was incredibly familiar. The aura of malice, just like the one that surrounded practically his whole family. Yet, unlike Malloria, Roc, Shafre, or even himself for that matter, this Viscling's aura was different. It was more wild, uncontrollable, and savage. The moment he saw that psychotic grin on her face, he knew she was no longer a Viscling. She was a monster with the body of a Viscling. Without a word or any sort of warning, she lunged at Karako with the stained knife. Karako leapt upwards, wings quickly gearing into motion. A deadly dance ensued between the two Visclings. The stranger's grin grew wider. "Well, aren't you interesting?" she said. "I've never had the pleasure of killing a Viscet with wings before!" The shadows seemed to abide the stranger Viscling's will. If he hadn't been the target, Karako would've been enthralled. This was a whole new level of magic! And to top it off, a Viscling was doing this. She's so talented, he thought, turning sharply to avoid a tendril of shadow shooting towards him. Flying behind the Viscling, Karako found his chance. He tackled her from behind, wrenching the knife away from her grasp. He thought he saw the red gem embedded in the hilt glow, and it filled him with a strange chill. This weapon... he thought. It's claimed hundreds of souls.

"My knife!" the Viscling shouted. Karako flew up, knife between his teeth. A smirk formed on the Viscling's face. "How interesting," she said. "This is the first time in a long time a Viscling has ever fought back!"
Karako didn't respond. He kept on flapping his wings, trying to keep himself aloft. His heart was racing. Despite the fear he felt, Karako couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for this strange Viscling. He felt compelled to try to know more about this Viscling. "Look," she said, breaking the momentary silence. "Return my knife to me, and I promise I won't try to kill you. I know you're intrigued by me; those eyes of yours are sooooo telling." She let out a childish giggle. Despite all of Karako's best instincts, he flew down and gave her the knife. She grabbed the knife and let out a content sigh. "My name is Keira," she said. "What's yours?"
"K-karako," Karako answered, awestruck by the fact that this strong, magically-talented Viscling wanted to talk to an insect like him.
"Karako," Keira pronounced his name slowly, as if trying to get used to the feel of the name rolling off her tongue. She flashed him a grin.

"You're an interesting Viscling, you know," she said. "One of the very few I've met who isn't a weakling."
At those words, Karako's heart soared.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Part 3

Fate was a bizarre thing. In that monster of a Viscling, Karako found a friend. The only one close to him who actually considered him strong. He believed it was destiny. Destiny brought those two Visclings together. Ever since that one encounter, hope seemed to slowly creep back into Karako's life. Keira never considered him weak. She always considered him an equal instead of the talentless insect he was, something Karako never experienced before. Despite that, Karako also admired Keira. Admired her almost as much as he admired Roc, in fact. Keira beat Karako in just about everything: friendly spars, magical contests, and even with his wings Karako couldn't beat Keira's speed. Yet, Keira never looked down on him for that. Rather, she would always say, "No problem, it's because I'm just so naturally great." Keira was also surprisingly talkative with him, sharing information that Karako thought she wouldn't have shared with just anybody. Despite her greatness, Keira was a mistake. She should've died a long time ago, but a fragment of her soul lingered in this world. A fragment now known as "Keira". Still, Karako never lost his respect for her. Mistake as she was, she's still more talented than Karako.

Yet, this dangerous friendship had to come to an end.

One starry night, Karako snuck out of home to visit Keira. They sat down together at a clearing, looking up at the sky. The night sky was like a black veil decorated by sparkling diamonds, spread out above them. The cool night breeze ruffled Karako's fur. A smile crossed his lips as he carefully folded his wings. There was one thing Karako had always wondered about Keira, but he'd never had the time nor confidence to ask. This was the perfect time. "Hey, Keira," Karako asked, looking at the dark Viscling. "I've always wondered... do you have a dream?"
"A dream?" Keira chuckled. "Dreams are for weaklings."
Somehow, that stung Karako, even if Keira didn't outright call him a weakling. How dare she look down on the power of dreams, when it was all Karako had? The winged Viscling sat up straight and glared earnestly at Keira. "Hold it!" he said. "Dreams are powerful, you know. It spurs you to do great things. Sometimes, they're the only thing that can keep you going."
"What if I don't have a dream?" Keira said.
"You must have one!"
"Will you just shut up?" Keira snapped, sitting up straight.
"...what?"
Unknowingly, Karako had hit a sore spot. The glare Keira was giving him was intense and furious, as if Karako had just deeply offended her. He didn't understand. What was so wrong about having dreams? Why did Keira seem to be so against it? If there was one thing Karako hated, it was when people seemed to underestimate the power of dreams. It was just a mindset of Karako's; a way of thinking rarely comprehended by others. Still, it was part of Karako's beliefs, and he would hold on to it even if it meant arguing with his best friend. "Dreams are for the weak," Keira said. "I had dreams once... And see where it got me? It just makes me feel worse now that I can never EVER realize those dreams! So, forget it!"
"No, you're wrong! There's-"
A knife sailed right above Karako's head. The winged Viscling flinched. As soon as his gaze locked onto Keira's, he understood. Keira wasn't the great Viscling he thought she was. She was talented, true, but she'd given up. Her orange eyes were filled with anger and jealousy. He understood that she was jealous of him, jealous of his existence. He couldn't understand it. Why would someone so great be jealous of a loser like him? Evidently, Keira didn't view it the same way. "You're... a weakling," Keira said, her voice filled with both hurt and malice. "You're trying to drag me down to your level."

That was the last straw. With a huff, Karako spread his wings. "Well, if that's the way you think, I'm not going to associate with you anymore," he said, in a fit of anger. With that, he flew away. In hindsight, it was a stupid argument. If only Karako had just talked it out with her, or backed down... Still, her words stung. Weakling. She was just like everybody else after all. Like everybody who thought he was a weakling, and that his beliefs were for the weak. Karako hated it. As soon as he got back home, he collapsed on the ground and... to his surprise, tears ran down his cheeks. "She's wrong, she's wrong, she's wrong, she's wrong!" he repeated to himself. He put his paws over his head in frustration, crouching and shaking on the ground with anger. "I'll show her! I'll show her that dreams mean something! I'll show her... that I'm not weak! I'll show EVERYONE the power of my dreams!"
That's when Karako realized. That was his purpose, his one ultimate dream. He would create a world where everyone is free to dream, and nobody's dreams would be looked down upon.
