the kalon absentmindedly lists various items, counting on his paws, before snapping back to attention suddenly.
"wait a minute! are we talking like a full out blizzard, or just a lot of snow?

oh okay. and i am in my house?
well i suppose i'd have enough supplies already then. that is, if a certain someone actually remembered the shopping list.

let's see... this storm could probably last a week, and even then the snow might take a while to melt. the power would probably be out, which means no tv, internet, or lights.

lucky for cole and i, we have a ton of board games! there's monopoly, life, chess. those should take up some of our time, right?"

james pauses, tilting his head and thinking for a moment.

"huh. i guess it would be difficult to play those in the dark. i've got candles somewhere i think..."

prompt: Ariel was not the kind of Kalon to stay inside; however, they had been completely snowed in. Completely. She had tried every door and even dared a window, but there was just too much snow. Sighing, she flopped down on the couch. What was she to do? Pausing, she remembered something that made her eyes light up, it was perfect! Jumping to her paws, she gathered all kinds of blankets and pillows, and grabbed a string of fairy lights as well. Eagerly, she created a pillow fort, complete with lights and extra blankets. There! That was much better! More positive, Ariel enjoyed her day indoors with hot chocolate and a stack of good books.

As the harsh winter winds shattered the trees outside, Aster was curled up on his sofa, shivering. Was it from the cold of the storm, or the fear that the blizzard brought upon him? Maybe both.

Oh goodness, how I hate storms!

Aster had a huge fear of storms of any kind, but he especially hated snow storms. They're just dangerous. They make the roads icy, they trapped people in homes, they made the power go off, they just screamed danger.

During these types of days, Aster would usually curl up on the couch and watch a show on the TV, as it often made him forget the horrors of the outside world.

But this particular day, the power had gone out. It was dark, freezing and terrifying. Aster, usually being one to worry, had had a total panic attack. What if he ran out of food? What if all his water froze? What if he froze?

He had to calm himself down to think rationally.

Okay Aster, you won't freeze. Your fur will keep you warm. You won't starve, you have plenty of food.

He started feeling better, but needed to distract himself to keep from freaking out again. Since he lived alone, he had nobody to talk to. He looked around for something to do, and spotted a pack of cards on the counter.

But who would I play with?

He suddenly knew who he would play with.

Aster lived alone. He had no pets living with him, because the area he lived in didn't permit it and he just didn't get along with other dog his kind. To feel less lonely, he started getting stuffed animals of all different shapes, colours and sizes.

Aster ran up the stairs to his room and grabbed 3 stuffed animals: a koala named Kenny, a bear named Benjamin and a tiger named Tesla. Those were his favourite stuffed animals. He placed a blanket on the floor, placed his stuffed animals so they were making 3/4 of a circle, grabbed the cards and handed them out. He was going to play go fish with his stuffed animals. Sure, he technically had to cheat to play with inanimate objects, but he had fun anyways.

As the day went on, the three had a lot of fun. Well, that's what Aster wanted to think. The truth was that these were inanimate objects that couldn't feel. But, whatever makes him happy I guess. Just as night was falling, the power turned back on. And though the storm kept raging on, Aster felt better. He now knew what to do if an event like this ever occurred again.

How he got his 3 favourite stuffed animals

Kenny
Kenny was Aster's first, and favourite by far, stuffed animal. He got him as a kit, and Kenny has stuck with him ever since. He got Kenny for his 9th birthday. Aster had to have surgery that day as well, so Kenny was there after surgery to keep him company. Because of all his years, Kenny is a little beat up. He only has one eye and is missing some stuffing.

Benjamin
Benjamin was acquired a few years later, for his 13th birthday. His grandmother made him for Aster, directly from scratch. He wears a little flannel shirt. Again, like Kenny, Benjamin has seen better days, but is still going strong!

Tesla
Tesla was brought home from a visit to the zoo a couple years ago. Aster wanted to remember the fun he had, so he bought a tiger plushie (his favourite animal) to do just that. Aster even knit her a tiny pink scarf. Tesla is the only "female" stuffed animal Aster has, so it makes her special.

All three have marked very important days in Aster's life so he keeps them around to treasure those days.

Ashton was often anxiety ridden and very paranoid so seeing that he was trapped in made him panick. he hated bein inclosed in spaces, even if he could run in the darn house he could feel the claustrophobia kicking in and he immediately got up and started doing laps around his home to keep his mind off of his current predicament and did so until his legs burned and he was gasping for air. once his breathing steadied and the burnign in his legs ceased he got up and checked hsi fridge and cabinets and took count of what he had and the amount of each item. he had enough to last him and his roommate around two or three weeks in food and around 4 weeks in drinks. after this and calming himself again he took a nap deciding to ignore it for now. someone would come and clean all of the snow within a day or two anyway. after all things like this happened all fo the time
