Aden sighed as he laid on his back on the pleasantly soft, warm sand of the beach. The rustling palm trees above shielded him from the scorching heat of the sun. He loved the ocean dearly, hence why he keeps to a modest wooden hut at the edge of the forest line. He constructed the home himself, using palm tree trunks and straw. It wasn’t the most spacious of residences, but it was only enough for what he needed. He had the entire beach to explore and unwind on; sometimes he even claims the beach is his home.
He has lived on this beach ever since he was a young viscling, having been left behind in the sand by his mother. Aden really never understood why exactly she abandoned him, but he grew up with the waves, and accepted what his life was. With the peaceful beach came relaxation—he learned how to not stress so easily over things, and in doing so, has a laid-back personality. The only memoir Aden has left of his mother is the very necklace tied around his neck, and a blurry vision of a viscet stumbling down the beach during a dark and stormy night.
His bittersweet eyes trailed over the waves as he waded through the shallows; cool saltwater graced around his legs, and he watched as seaweed drifted in and out from the sea. Small crabs fled from his toes as he continued. The water matched his mane, appearing several different shades of light blue as it rippled.
It was something about the wildlife found here that fascinated him, like how colorful each and every part of the reef was, or how much there was to be found discovered underwater. There was such a concentration of fish at the bottom of the ocean, species of which had so many different and unique purposes and roles in their environment. He loved how everything in nature was balanced; how everything had it’s own little impact through the ecosystem. The idea gave him hope that he too had a purpose despite not belonging any civilization or group of sorts.
Some days he spends sauntering through the beach, finding seashells to collect and showcase in his shack, or examining washed up seaweed along the shore. He finds comfort in watching the world around him, unsure of who or where exactly he his; but despite that, Aden loves his home, and will do everything in his power to keep it safe and clean. One time a lost viscet hobbled through, confused and hopeless. He gladly helped them, crafting a makeshift straw bed for them to sleep on overnight and then a few words of guidance to follow on their way. He didn’t really mind having to; he’s glad he isn’t really alone in the world, but also glad he has another reason to stay at the beach—and that’s to help passerby.
