"How are we supposed to fish without a rod, line, bait, anything really?", asked Rossa in a gruff tone. Not only was Rossa angry, she was hungry. She was hangry. She dropped to the ground the dirt clouded around around under her weight and the force of impact. The three of them stood and sat at the edge of a large pool. It was bordered by crystals, luckily a few spots were clear from them like the one they stood by.
"Well, why not do it the old fashioned way!", suggested Roxanne with a late smile. Rossa and Apollyon looked to each other. Their expressions seemed to say "is she seriously suggesting we fish with our paws like animals?". Rossa looked back toward her giving a small shrug. None of them really sure of any other ways to get food. Apollyons stomach growled from the lack of good food. The fruit he had collected had done nicely for a good while but they'd run out a good while ago. Too bad for them I guess. Looks like their choices were go hungry or fish.
They decided to fish. It was disgusting feeling them but it kept them alive and well.

[RPG] Kalon Summer Event // Prompts

Postby King Andre » Mon Jul 10, 2017 11:52 am

    donn, anthony, abel

    "Gosh I'm starving."

Anthony groaned as they crossed under another crystal laden tunnel and into another stream shore. Donn sighed, looking at the other two members of the party. "I'm hungry too." Abel said quietly, crouching onto the black sand shore. "Well, it's a good thing we brought fishing rods from the last town. It's time to catch our own food." Donn searched through the bag which seemed to have more items than its size allowed. He pulled out three fishing rods which were different from each other in how they were made, seemingly customized for all three members of the party.

Anthony cast his into the water, and waited before feeling something tugging and reeling it in. It was.... a diminutive fish, not worth eating. They all cast their rods into the water and waited and waited, but nothing that would be a meal would bite. Anthony murmured something under his breath with his wand in the other hand, and cast again. This time he reeled in something that would actually feed himself. Abel simply gave up fishing and dived into the stream with a dagger, and returned with a handful of fish. Donn splashed the water with his massive hands and a fish lept up, and with lightning reflexes grabbed it into his arms.

    They would eat well tonight.

Party /// Cinna, Artemis, and Feliks
▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁
A lake appeared in front of them. "Anyone up for some fishing?"
Cinna asked. She glanced at Feliks and Artemis for an answer.
"Sure." Feliks said. Artemis looked around, not knowing what to
say. "Um, let's go fish then?" Artemis said.
"Okay, but it's going to be hard getting down this cliff." Cinna said.
"I'll go scout a trail out!" Artemis exclaimed. She started forwards
the cliff.
"No, don't! It could be dangerous." Cinna shouted to her.
"Dangerous is my middle name." Artemis said. She made her way
down the cliff.
"Her middle name is actually Luna." Cinna whispered to Feliks.
"I found a path, guys! I'll be up shortly!" Artemis shouted. They
soon heard a yelp of surprise and rocks falling. "Artemis, are you
okay?" Cinna said, rushing to the edge of the cliff.
"No, It feels like I'm dying! The pain is horrible!" Artemis shouted
back. She was laying in a shallow part of the lake.
"Okay, but you have to lead us down." Cinna said.
"Okay, go down where I went," Artemis said. "Okay, go straight
then head into that cave behind the waterfall. After that go right
at the crossroads then continue straight with caution." Feliks and
Cinna followed the path with caution. Cinna rushed over to Artemis
and checked for broken bones. "I have good news and bad news.
Which one first?" Cinna asked.
"Bad news." Artemis replied.
"You have a broken leg and sprained paw. The goodness is that
you caught us some fish, and they broke your fall! You also got
us both to all wet." Cinna said.
"I need help to get up. Feliks, help me up!" Artemis said. Feliks
rushed over to them. They got Artemis to shore. Cinna placed
Artemis's leg in a sturdy wrap while Feliks grabbed the dead
fish. "I got some firewood from that one time with that mimic."
Artemis said. She rose to her two front legs and grabbed
firewood to start a fire. "Hey, I'll do it. You just relax." Cinna said.
She grabbed the firewood and placed in a pile. "Got the fish,
is the fire ready?" Feliks said.
"Yes, and place them on the cooking rod." Cinna said, squatting
by the fire. Feliks placed the fish on the cooking rod.
▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁
"Time to eat!" Cinna shouted. Feliks and Artemis gathered around
the fire. Cinna placed a fish in something. "Our mom and dad used
to make it and it was amazing!" Cinna said. They munched down
on the fish and all decided on it being amazing. "Something good
came out of something bad." Artemis said, gesturing to her legs.
"Indeed, you are correct, After, but you forgot to mention how
great it was, as well." Feliks said. They set up camp for the night
by that lake.

    prompt fourteen
kalon used: althea, peregrine, & james

James had convinced the rest of the group to go fishing, and quite early at that. Peregrine hadn't been quite happy with this arrangement; not because of having to wake up earlier than normal, but because he didn't exactly enjoy the thought of catching an animal on a hook. Althea had fished before, but didn't enjoy waking up earlier. James enjoyed most of it, actually, and he was excited to see if he would catch anything at all.

"It really won't be that bad, if you guys just bear with me," James told them as he approached the glistening pool he had chosen. He took proper equipment along, although it wasn't the best for fishing. He would make it work.

Althea and Peregrine sat down next to the pool, and Althea let out a small yawn. Not to display how tired she was or giving a sign that James should make this quick; just out of exhaustion from the journey thus far. James threw the rod in an odd way, but managed to cast a line in the water, along with a lure. He wasn't quite sure which bait to use, for he didn't know what he would catch, so he decided a lure may be more effective.

After roughly a half-hour of waiting and periodically checking the line, James felt a tug on the fishing rod, and felt himself light up in excitement. He quickly tried to reel it back, but the thrashing was gone just as quickly as it came. He sighed, reeling it back just to check the lure, and ... found that the lure had been completely gone. Attached to the line was a soggy note, dripping wet, but not quite falling apart. Unsure of himself, James read the note after holding it in his paws.

"Sorry, there aren't any fish here. Just me ;)" is all the note said, and James felt himself let out a small scream as he ditched the fishing rod and ran in the opposite direction of the pool.

Jaesung's stomach growls in protest and in a need for food as he walked along the path. Hm, it had been a while since the tannish male had eaten and even his stomach was beginning to notice now. Would there be food around here for him to take? He spotted a river and headed straight into it, diving head first until he felt himself break through and submerge in the icy fluid. Fish scattered in an instant, but he scrambled to catch what he could, tossing whatever he felt in his grasp onto the land without looking.

Couldn't quite call it fishing, but if it worked, Jae-sung wasn't going to complain. Instead, he throws with his might whatever he finds (mostly dirt and the rocky river bed, really above all else), but eventually feels the scaley texture of something else slip through his fingers. Immediately he pops up with a victorious smile, a fish in grasp.

Day 14

As time went on, the group continued to travel with not a local in sight among the glistening rocks and growing rivers of roaring water. They had followed as Janje had lead, and so passing from fork to fork had not been an issue from the start, but with hardly a place to rest and no cave dwellers nearby, they group had become restless. At least the heat of the volcano had come with people who knew of the problems at hand and gave them a hand with supplies, here, they were once again on their own, and the food seemed scarce among the waterways in these parts.

Cosima grew increasingly engrossed with her eyes on the rapids, an almost unsettling glare set in her gaze from the back set of behind her mask. The blues of its design seemed to glow as they moved from light to light of the crystals along the walls and floor, and even tucked into the waters below. This shouldn’t be something hard for her, hunting was her second nature, but it felt so odd being so near to the rumble of the water’s flow, jittering her ability to feel the steps of prey, and the loud yells of the rapids nulled her honing skills for the sounds their next meal might make. She hated this most, this incompetent tunnel of caves. Her stomach ached with the craving for a meal, and she all the more tried her hardest to find a way to feed the group that she knew was more likely worse off than she was at this point.

A shimmer flashed by, and her eyes widened, with a quick assumption, she dove into the water without announcing anything. The seeping water that passed along her lips and trickled into her mouth tasted oddly metallic, and she scrunched her face just a tad. The current was quick, and her vision was surprisingly unclear as she opened her eyes under the white waters, the rapids were much faster flowing than she had anticipated, and it wasn’t until it was too late that she saw a large crystal ahead of her, and her held out her paws in defence, grimacing at the pain that rattled her arm and she was pulled through the water. She took the chance to get above the water, inhaling sharply, she looked to her crew, watching them run along the water’s edge, desperate not the lose sight of her. Their mouths moved, but she could not hear what was being spoken, she disregarded them for a moment more, and dove back under, swimming along faster and catching the currents rather than letting them push her about as they pleased. Soon, a glint of scales flew by, and she used the rocks to push off, and keep herself from tumbling through the currents. The tail came into view, and she reached out with her dagger in one paw and claws stretched with the other, she reached until her joints ached, and grabbed the delicate tail fin, proceeding to empale the knife into its side, she staked her claim and rose to the surface, trailing the edge of the water until her friends could catch up, and pull her out with their might.
I have made my choice. My pms will be open for a week to anyone who wants to message me on CS a little while longer, or to clear up anything if you must.
