❝ Along the path though the lava kindgom, you manage to stumble upon a treasure chest, but it appears to be locked. It would be such a waste to leave treasure behind...
How does your hero manage to open the chest, and what's inside? ❞
"Castor!" Corneria called, poking at the grass with her sword. The yellowed grass seemed to be hiding something under it...
Her mage companion slowly walked over, dousing himself with water to keep the wretched heat from getting to him that badly as he did so. He flicked a few spare drops on his hand at Corneria, but stifled a laugh as he saw what she was poking at. So, that made two Kalons gawking at something in the grass, which Corneria was slowly cutting through with her sword. Unfortunately, the blades were too rough to be torn by hand and threatened to cut her paw when she tried.
Slowly, she managed to cut back the grass enough to reveal a chest. Castor tried to set fire to the grass, but like almost everything growing in the firelands, it was flame-resistant. But, the padlock on the chest became apparent very quickly.
"It sounds like it has something in it..." Corneria gave a shake. There indeed was something inside! The soft sound of something knocking around could he heard. Or was that the padlock? Treasure was a strong pull for both Kalons though, the only question now was how they would get into it.
"Hyou have an ice spell?" Corneria looked over to Castor, who blinked back.
"Ice? Wait, why?"
"Its hot. Things expand in heat... contract in cold. We can break the lock maybe?"
Castor hummed at that idea. "I must have a few ice spells... Its so bloody hot here... aha! It's no cantrip, but what if I just charge it? Let's try!"
Castor moved his hands closer, the air around them starting to mist as it cooled. He held the nascent spell to the lock for a few minutes, until he noticed frost forming on it. Then, taking what Corneria said, he readied a fire spell, but did not let it off. The temperature change made a strange squeak, and both Kalons swiveled their ears towards it. No budge, though, so they tried the process again, the sun growing long.
"Hit it?" Corneria suggested as Castor tried to freeze it again. It sounded tempting after all this time.
"... Yeah," Castor nodded in agreement, already tired of this lock.
Corneria found a decent-sized rock (she wasn't using her blade on the lock- she'd damage it and she expected a lock to respond better to blunt force) and paused, raising her stony weapon of justice above her head. She considered it... Mmm, no. She threw it down, hitting the lock dead on, the crack of the frozen lock melding with the sound of rock hitting ground. Castor's cry of joy was the only thing that made her realize she did it.
Castor beat her to the chest, though, the mage opening it and pulling out.... bags. He looked as unamused as she did. "Oh come on... there has to be...
oh!" Castor inspected the bag, sticking his hand in to see if something was in it. There wasn't, but his hand kept going.
For a small leather bag, somehow fitting a Kalon's whole hand was a feat! There were precicely two bags as well, meaning Corneria and Castor could have one of these strange infinite bags.
+2 Bags of Holding!
