    prompt // harper ❤️❤️

harper padded along the stone road, enjoying the heat from the small lava rocks. while he didn't enjoy stepping onto the heated stones, he enjoyed the nice heat while it lasted. he slipped past small lava explosions, beginning to sweat as he got deeper into the land. he yawned, daydreaming of being in a small cabin with his mate, snow outside, and they just cuddled. that's all he wanted. as he was distracted, he stepped on a lava stone. he yowled as the rock burned his foot, but he didn't stop now. he continued going, limping on three legs, doing his best to keep up the pace he was going. he wanted to collapse and take a nap, but he needed to find somewhere to rest first. he yawned once more, becoming dizzy. as the heat became more and more, he became quite loose, and he felt he was going to faint. but he needs to keep going.

Prompt 9

Featuring:
Azrael + Hera

As the two heroes flew off with the second crystal towards their next location, Hera began to get worried. She had heard many rumors from the villagers about the hot volcanoes and the creatures that had resided there. Azrael noticed the look of worry on her face and knee that they were both thinking the same thing. The angel could withstand the heat only to an extent but in truth, he was more prone to it than Hera even was. His heavy wings weighed him down whenever he walked and his long, thick hair was going to make him sweat even more than most people. As they got closer to the volcanic land, the pair felt the atmosphere change. The clouds got denser and filled with smoke and the air got very hot and humid. The pair started coughing and Azrael finally decided to land.

As soon as they did Hera let out a whine. “I should've packed more water….” She said as she started walking and already knew that this was far worse than any hike in the desert. “How does anything live here?!” She breathed out as the heroes walked around the fire-land, trying to avoid any lava or fire from spewing onto them. Azrael was lagging behind and had deuces to try to put his hair up in a bun with little avail. “Stop talking and save your energy.” He said quieter than usual. Hera could tell that he was growing weak and decided that it was best if the two smoky adventurers rested in an abandoned cave that they had found. Once they got settled in Hera sighed. “I hope that this trip gets better…” she said as she watched the angel sleeping soundly across from her.

    kalon; delta

delta groaned and mumbled, hating the heat. she would much rather prefer skiing, or a rainy day. the hot weather annoyed her so much, and it tired her out. she was already fluffy, she didn't need the heat burning into her. she continued to walk, avoiding pools of lava, until she finally came across a pool of water. she panted, lapping at the lake. she felt far more energetic, but she was still hungry, and there were no prey or berries in this barren land.

she needed to keep going nonetheless, praying for a drop of rain.

Featuring Eden and Calypso

"I'm dying. Why is this place so hot?" Eden walked slowly along the edge of the lava chambers and through the fiery rocks which lined the path. Calypso wasn't paying attention. She didn't seem to mind the heat so much. It was most likely because she was always complaining about being cold.

Eden dramatically flopped over, with the intent of getting up at first, but then realizing that she was too tired to do so.

"Ah, come on, man." growled Calypso. "It isn't so bad..."

But it was. In the sweltering heat, Eden felt like she was melting. This place was definitely one she couldn't wait to leave. She turned to her side, and noticed a piece of firm paper which was in her pack. "A fan?" She fanned it on herself and felt much better after it. As soon as she stopped, the heat began engulfing her again. So, the poor kalon relied on a flimsy piece of paper over her entire well being. For as soon as she stopped, the poor thing would be unable to do just about anything.

Artemis - Ronan - Electra

Word count: 711

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Artemis grinned at the prospect of a Mediterranean getaway. "It's so pleasantly warm!" He exclaimed, beaming and stepping lightly on his toes. Electra and Ronan on the other hand dragged behind like a dead weight to the party. Of course Artemis was content in this sweltering heat, he had the shortest fur! Electra and Ronan were practically walking pom-poms with thick, matted fur from the sticky heat and beads of sweat hanging from their limp pelts. The now-seemingly pleasant creepy, yet cool, forest was a mirage in the distance behind them.
"Please can we go back to the forest? Maybe we missed another crystal or something?" Electra made a weak excuse to go back to the inviting darkness and shade of the canopies of the forest. "It's way too hot!" Ronan groaned, taking a feeble step forwards, before falling flat onto his face out of heat exhaustion. Electra hesitantly dragged the giant ball of fur to his feet. "Get up you fat ball of fuzz", Electra complained curtly, holding Ronan up with great struggle. "If I wanted to go to a cheap sauna, I would have paid for one", Ronan complained like a spoilt kit.

The couple of squabbling comrades didn't dampen Artemis' mood, he continued leading the way for the first time in their journey, with a vibrant, expressive skip in his step. The juxtaposition between this merry individual and Ronan and Electra was unreal. "I'd rather be anywhere else!" Ronan exclaimed with frustration, shaking his pelt free from the sweat beads that made his fur uncomfortable in the stuffy, claustrophobic climate. Electra's eyes widened with sheer horror, as she inspected Ronan's pelt. "So, the prince really turns out to be the frog," Electra said wittily, meanwhile Artemis suppressed an outburst of dense laughter. Ronan glanced between the two bemused kalons aggressively and they displayed their most professional poker faces. "What is it!?" Ronan demanded urgently, tail flicking violently now with obvious annoyance at the pair of suspicious characters. "Tell me!" He demanded once more. Although their brief hysteria soon became crystal clear. Strands of Ronan's pelt, his glorious, well-groomed pelt, scattered around the igneous rock of their surroundings and drifted through the oppressive air. You could cut the tension with a knife. The thrashing of his tail and the shaking of his pelt had left Ronan's pelt stripped of its glorious locks. Truly mortifying.

"How dare you even consider laughing," Ronan hissed. "I thought those shadow creatures were the real threat to our expedition," Electra pointed out to Ronan with warning undertones. Soaring temperatures only made tensions within the group more fractious. Raging heat only shortened Electra and Ronan's fuse, meanwhile Artemis remained frustratingly calm and collected. "Remember why we're here," Artemis frowned towards the two, with a serious glint in his eyes. "We need to stop the shadow plague," he reminded them, stepping forwards to lead the party through the flattened, volcanic land. Thankfully though, a large majority of the volcanoes here were dormant or extinct, which gave the trio peace of mind. Lava lapped at the edges of the volcanic rock. A blistering pool of crimson and coral. "Don't fall in," Electra teased, trailing precariously close behind the fretful movements of Ronan and the guarded steps of Artemis.

A single strand of dark hair landed on Ronan's nose, causing him to sneeze abruptly, sending the formal line off-balance immediately. "Grab on!" Artemis called, stretching out his lengthy, leopard-like tail behind him, followed by Ronan holding up his tail for Electra to grab. Both Artemis and Ronan winced, as the sharp jaws of Ronan and Electra clamped firmly shut onto their tails. The infrastructure of their line became more tough and resistant from this simple linking. Once the narrow passageway had been voided, the three kalons continued their journey towards the crystal that would help save Kalokairi. Electra's pelt was shedding now also. "Stupid heat, feels like summer," Electra commented, brushing the lose strands of hair free from her pelt with a feeble swipe from her large paw. "Silly mosquitos as well I bet?" Artemis giggled, continuing to pad daintily through the winding path that led through the scorching surroundings. "Of course!" Electra snapped, quickly closing her jaws in an attempt at catching some of the buzzing annoyances.

Kalon Summer Event // Prompt 9

Postby hazilnut » Wed Jul 05, 2017 6:10 am

____________________________________

Prompt - 9

Kalon Party
Dustin | Sell-sword | 17 years old
→ A hyper but forgetful boy with a good
heart and a wish to see the world

Perseus | Scholar mage | 25 years old
→ Dustin's relatively reserved mentor,
and reluctant but wise accompaniment

Jade | Shadow puppeteer | 24 years old
→ A graceful but painfully shy woman
with a cynical outlook on life

361 words
____________________________________

Dustin was sprawled unconscious in the shade of Jade's caravan, his two friends anxiously trying to cool him off. When the party had stumbled across a large cavern, the boy had insisted they explore it. And as it had gotten hotter he only grew more excited. This was where the fire crystal was sure to be! Dustin had left them behind in his enthusiasm to search for and retrieve the precious rock, and as quickly as Jade and Perseus had tried to move to keep up- they were still totting the wagon that Jade refused to leave behind. By the time they had found their sell-sword again he had collapsed from heat-exhaustion.

"I knew this was a horrid idea. I knew it."

"Perseus this isn't helping."

"I know but-"

The mage placed his hands over his face and trailed off. Jade understood he couldn't help it, but that didn't mean she was going to treat this grown man as a child. She was hot too, burning up under her heavy veil, but as foolhardy as it would be to keep it on she wouldn't remove it. The woman lay another wet cloth on Dustin's forehead and tipped some water into his mouth. Small, dark hands grasped the canteen suddenly and now awoken patient began to guzzle the water frantically. Jade had to pry it away from him to keep the boy from drowning.

"Wha ha'en?"

"You passed out; you're still weak so don't try and talk. Perseus do you have any cold magic?"

Perseus was, by default, a fire mage, but clearly that sort of magic was not going to help the group in their current situation. Thankfully one of the books he had snagged from the library held weather incantations, so after a few tries he managed to summon a small snow cloud. Dustin delighted in the quickly-melting crystals, catching them in his hands and forming a sort of a slush-ball that he chucked at a nearby rock. He missed by a good yard. Jade's headache still pounded at the base of her skull, but it seemed to have lightened up if just a little with the new cool drizzle.

Prompt 9
My party

"Why are we still traveling? There are others that could easily do the same as us, and maybe actually can stand the heat," Bromine whined. Reed and Bromine honestly were faring horribly with the hot weather, not being used to traveling, or just, preferring water. Silvio snickered at the two and walked faster, "Better keep up, you do realize the fast we walk, the less you will have to endure the heat? So come on, move ahead, run if you must. Just don't drain our limited water supply," At this point, Silvio was taking command of the group, and ignore the complaints of the others. "But the water, my question is how we will not run out, with all the sweat and tears. we will quickly grow dehydrated, real quick." He sighed. "Well, lets keep going, as quickly as we can, but Silvio, don't blame me if I collapse because of all this walking in this biome."

prompt 9 - how hot?
celeste, april and brook

april groaned, her paws dragging behind her lazily as she walked with her companions through the scorching lava lands. "i hate the heat!" she complained. april stopped walking, her arms crossed as she sulked. her lips formed a pout and it was obvious she'd had enough.

"for crying out loud it's not that bad. stop complaining." celeste hissed, clearly tired of april's constant complaining.

"it's not far now, april, promise. as long as we keep walking we'll be out of here in no time." brook soothed, going through her satchel. she pulled out a leather water bottle, throwing it over to april. april was quick to catch it, not giving it a second thought.

"thank you brook!" april exclaimed, pulling the cork out of the leather bottle. she poured the water all over her short fur, resulting in a groan from celeste.

"april you idiot! you were meant to drink it, not pour it over yourself!" she snapped. "now we have to wait until we get out of this place to find some more."

april shrugged. "it would have evaporated sooner or later anyway."

"and we could have drunk it before that happened!" celeste retorted, clearly unhappy with what april had done.
