How they spend their time during the summer: He steps out of the car and sandaled feet sink into the ground. The
The very smell is different from before - there is something distinctive about the ocean. It is salt, it is maybe slightly
fishy, but it is relaxation. The ground is soft, loamy. Little green plants poke their way out of the soil, their leaves
unfurling broad and flat. They are thin and suited to the ocean wind.

He would not say he is suited to the ocean wind. Lawrence is broad and stands straight, and his suit is still neatly
pressed. He had only changed footwear before coming here. He is from the city, and this island is his escape.

This island is a small thing. And he wouldn't call the house he's staying at a beach home- that would imply there is
a beach. There is a small patch of a sand at the edge, but it is rocky and rough. Dark wooden boards separate sand
and land. There is a dock though, low hanging enough that during high tide he can put his feet in the water.

Lawrence spends his summers here. He lets the breeze whisper to him as his only companion. He lets his feet
hang in the water and watches the fish swim around. When the tide is low, he enters the ocean and walks to
the sandbar. He walks along the sand, dragging his feet. Maybe he’ll find something. It's usually a sand dollar-
nothing like the pristine white he sees in the city, on postcards and in movies. It's brown and very much alive.
He always puts them back.

There aren't many people living nearby. This isn't a tourist location- it is a spot for fisherman and those who have
always lived there. Lawrence comes there because he loves the solitude. He can relax, away from the stresses of
the city. There are no phones constantly ringing. He is not checking his email with a frequency someone might call
compulsive. Instead, he checks a crab pot, and instead, he hears the ringing of the gulls voices. Every summer he
comes here, and he does not plan to change that soon.

how they spend their time during the summer: Fawna loves to play in the woods. The breeze in her face, and the leaves crunching at her paws. She saw a peice of paper floating in the sky, it read The big summer race is coming up! Come to the Great Mable to sign up! That was one of Fawna's favorite places to go! She raced all the way to the great maple and happily signed up. " This will be so much fun! " She squealed. To pass the next few weeks she practiced abd practiced gaining speed every moment. Then the big race was upon her. " I can do this! " She though aloud as the big race was about to start." 3...2....1.... GO " she heard. Other Kalons and creatures surrounded her as she ran, and ran. The Kalon in front of her was almost finished, and Fawna lost some hope, but she still gained speed and just bareky won. It was her best summer yet.

summer, [ 452 ] honey bee care
during the summer kricket will often go to his summer or vacation home out in the glades, where they own
a honey bee farm with their close friend. the home is surrounded by a large flower meadow that looks ama
zing every summer kricket comes, their friend lives there all the time while kricket comes for visits or sum
mer. it was kricket's friends idea and life joy to be a bee keeper and help the honey bee population grow,
kricket shares their interest and helps every summer. it is quite relaxing for them, as the flower fields surr
ounding the home they stay in look beautiful through out the day even at night as fireflies come from the f
lowers and show off their light. through the days of summer kricket goes out to the bee farm with their frie
nd and collects honey and generally checks up on the hundreds of hives around the field. kricket helps pick
out where the hives will be placed every year and gets to name a few each time. more often then not kric
ket will give them flower names or something extra silly that both of them can laugh at when checking off
the list of which hives they've checked already or listing where they are located on the map. kricket loves s
pending time on the bee farm, as they know how much it helps the bee population as they get more and m
ore hives. they also check hives that are in the wood thickets through out the glade, ones that aren't hand
crafted but instead naturally made by honey bees that have made their home there. kricket and their frien
d check on them constantly to make sure they are staying healthy and busy. they always check the trees e
very summer for new naturally made hives and each year they find a few more which fills them both with g
lee. kricket hopes to one day move out to the glade permanently and help their friend a whole lot more th
en what they are doing now, only coming for summer visits but every time kricket does go, they make wond
erful memories that they get to keep forever. kricket has one very special job when they do go to the farm
over summer, kricket is in charge of keeping track of the flowers growth and the expansion of the glade, as
only in spring or summer do the flowers fully bloom to where kricket could check them all and see how it h
as grown. and kricket absolutely loves it, to see the expansion of the glade as well as map it out each year.

"miles! look at this!"

the chocolate colored kalon turned to see the young kit who had run up to him.
"what's up, manny?" he asked, smiling gently down on him.

"isn't this cool?" manny held up his paw. a soft green caterpillar inched along his fur. it stopped and put its head up, as if to take a better look at miles.

"very! if i'm not mistaken, this one will turn into an angle shades moth. in my opinion, it's prettier like this." he grinned.

They love to travel during the summer! To Hawaii, France, any place where it's fasinanting.
His favorite place has to be Paris, all the unique and old architecture is so fasinanting. The way they eat meals with family's is truly beautiful. He loves to taste cheese, wine, and even chocolate!
