Day 6 Prompt
featuring Gabe, Amelie and Helios

queen of the spiders ; Amelies perspective
On the wretched path to who knows where, the 3... heros? No -
that's not really the right phrase. Nor was villains. Lets just go with
adventurers. So, the 3 adventurers had found themselves stranded.
Starving, but fortunately, not injured in any form. Amelie was
lingering some distance back from the group, unamused - as usual.

"When will we find this wretched crystal?" Her voice laced with
boredom as her red eyes scanned the surroundings. "This place is
beginning to bore me." Her paw caught in a small web attached to
a branch, which she flicked away without a second thought. She
looked up and watched Gabe 'lead' the group away from the place
with the first crystal - she could barely remember the surroundings.

She'd never mention it, but she liked to soak in whatever imagery
she could whilst on these missions, she did always seem to forget
them quite quickly afterall. She glared forward, as she watched
Helios begin to trot up to Gabe and converse with the older, more
experienced kalon. She disliked Helios - but she couldn't place a
finger on why. She was about to try and solve why, until she felt
something crawl up her leg, and onto her back. In her head, the
questions she'd asked previously were unanswered as she felt the
small creature crawl around her, as a girl she'd always been afraid
of spiders - killing them when she could. But they were relatable,
they were cold, emotionless, thrived in the dark - had many secrets,
so intricate but they were one thing she wasn't - delicate.

All of a sudden, she was hit by a flash of anger inducing memories, of
which she shook - as the spider fell, she smashed it into the ground,
but the spider seemed to erupt into thousands of little spiders, hissing
loudly as they began to coat her paws, body. She coughed, splinters of
pain rushing throughout her as she felt her legs wobble as she attempted
to shake them off. She could feel them crawling all over her and her anger
just... grew. She lashed out at the closest person, which happened to be
    Gabe.

She coughed again, overtaken by these awful emotions, putting up quite a
fight with her partner - he made his best efforts to defend himself, and he
won. After all their working together - he was the one who won. She
should've known. "Amelie, what have you done?" She heard his gruff, scratchy
voice over her - she was a traitor.

Amelie stood still, as stiff as a statue. She'd been this was for at least 10
minutes now, staring at the floor. "Come on Amelie, you're holding us
back!" Helios yelled from the front of the group, stopping walking to
cause her to catch up. Amelie shook her head, and looked up at Helios. She
let out a ''hmmp'' noise, and walked ahead of the horned kalon. She sighed,
trying to push the thoughts out of her head. She couldn't do that to them
    - to him.
    Gabriel Reyes - Reaper
    male - old - bored
    health - 100 / 100
    hunger - 90 / 100
inventory - cloak, dagger, crystal 1
    description -
"extremely dark colored kalon, could blend
into the shadows. His fur is soft and whispy,
its as if he could disappear at any given
moment. He has glowing red eyes, and
    appears to be extremely sinister"

    Amelie Lacroix - Widowmaker
    female - shocked, guilty
    health - 80 / 100
    hunger - 90 / 100
inventory - bow, telescope, alcohol, hook
    description -
"A blue kalon, appears cold and emotionless.
She has glowing red eyes and a darker blue
hair colour. She's quite tall, and is unimpressed
most of the time, as well as annoyed. Probably
    hates Helios"

    Helios - ??? - classified
    male - young - optimistic
    health - 100 / 100
    hunger - 90 / 100
    inventory - probably something illegal,
    a really sharp stick, cigars
    description -
"A brown kalon with flame like markings. Covered
in sparkles. Is probably like one of those vamps from
the twilight series. Bascially nothing without
technology. Loves his puns, pretty much hated by
    everyone in his party"

Camille huddled in the dark, far away from the rest of her group. They were nice and warm, by the fire she had set up. Fire emits warmth, which is good. Fire also emits light which was bad for her. Why? Because bugs are attracted to light? Mosquitos swarmed her if she just wanted to get a little bit warm. and so she grabbed a blanket wishing she had some sort of mesh cover, or had brought bug repellent, and Feld the scene promtly. If she could not find a way to get rid of the insects, they're journey would have a big setback. She was the one who could read the complicated maps, and the most impulsive one among Dominque and Finn. It was, after all, her risk taking that got them the first crystal. If it weren't for her, they would have never found it. She sighed as she pulled her blanket over her, so it was covered her entire body, including her head. She used her limbs to keep it pinned down, but even though she wasn't being bitten by the pests anymore, she barely got any sleep. The bugs had swarmed aiiubg her fort, buzzing a cluster all around it, just waiting for her to emerge in the morning. After going to check on her, Dominque gave up on getting any sleep either that night, and made the long walk back to town to purchase bug repellent.

      Chapter Six: Mayhem
      __________________________
      Characters::
      Maua || lvl 199 assassin || 29 y/o
Maua is always angry or annoyed at something. She's rather sarcastic and kills with no guilt. She seems to be the main adventurer in the group. She's pretty much a jerk

      Sierra || lvl 5 medic || 12 y/o
Sierra is pretty much useless. She complains a lot and is always scared about something. She can shoot a bow pretty well though? And she makes all of their medicinal remedies!

      Melanie || lvl 10 knight || 27 y/o
Mel is nearly as useless as Sierra, originally a bartender, Maua forced her to come along on the journey. She's pretty sweet and talkative though!

      __________________________
Maua had made sure to buy a lighter while the trio had been in town yesterday, and a tent. Sierra had begun to annoy the assassin even more over time. Oh, how she hated whiny kits. Actually, kits in general. Maua scowled at Sierra, shutting her up immediately.
Sierra rolled her eyes at Maua, whispering curses under her breath. As hunger forced its way into her belly, Sierra snuck over to their food storage, picking up a fruit of some sort. She bit into it and chewed. It was sweet and sour at the same time. Delicious! Seeing another of the fruits in the distance, she walked towards it. They were small, a few bites each. Perhaps they'd fallen from the trees. Either way, Sierra wanted to eat them all. She continued down the path of fruits, forgetting about her partners who she'd left behind.
Melanie sighed, poking at the fire with a stick. She'd begun ignoring Sierra a while ago. She hadn't noticed her slip away. Melanie rested her chin on her paw and poked at it again, before getting up and grabbing a book she'd brought along. She began to read.
Maua fell asleep by the fire.
Sierra continued to follow the path, devouring the fruits quickly. They were so ripe and juicy! She plopped a final fruit into her mouth. The trail had ended. Sierra frowned, stepping forwards. Where were the rest of the fruits? Suddenly, the ground beneath her feet dropped, and Sierra fell. With a thud, she landed in some sort of pit. She placed her hands on the walls, running her fingers across them. They were just dirt and roots. This was a trap. She screamed, hoping Maua or Melanie would hear- or care. Suddenly, the kit felt dizzy. She blinked slowly, and fainted with a thud on the ground. Little did she know the fruits had been poisoned.
Melanie turned her head, hearing a scream that sounded distinctly like Sierra's. She moved her hand to pat Sierra's head, because she was surely sitting right next to her. He hand patted air. Melanie's eyes widened. She picked up her armor (provided by Maua) and sword. She shook the assassin awake. "C'mon. Sierra's hurt!" Urgency paced her tone, as she frowned.
Maua grumbled and sighed, closing her eyes again, "Mm well I'm sure she'll be fine. Just use a bandaid or something. What'd that idiot do this time?"
Melanie growled and stood Maua right up, slapping her on the cheek. "I said, come on. I don't know where she is but she screamed."
Maua slipped on some armor, and her various array of weapons. "Why can't we just let her die," she whined. However, she ran after her companion through the woods, following a trail of some sort of fruit seeds. Finally, they reached a dirt pit. It was empty, but Sierra's coat was left there. Maua looked towards Melanie with a gulp. There were thousands of tiny paw prints leading away from it.
Sierra Opened her groggy eyes. She soon realized her hands were bound and her mouth gagged. She was hanging from a tree branch. Squirrels were everywhere. Thousands of them looked up at her with evil gleams in their eyes. She gulped. It looked like she was about to get eaten. These "squirrels" were obviously demon possessed. Dark mist followed their paths, and their eyes had a purplish hue to them. She hoped desperately that somekalon would find her.
Maua growled, lunging and sprinting along the path of prints. No animal would take her companion alive. Although annoying, Sierra was a mere kit. Maua did have some compassion left in her awful soul. She ducked under a branch. The trees were thickening here, and a dark mist alerted her that demons were in the area. Or demon possessed animals perhaps. She crouched down to examine the prints. Squirrels. Perhaps a hundred or so. Sierra'd probably exaggerate the number in her head. Maua smiled a bit at the thought of the kit, and pushed on.
Melanie followed Maua, not quite sure what they were doing.
Sierra watched as two bodies emerged from the mist. Maua and Melanie! He eyes lit up and she writhed in the ropes. What unfriendly squirrel-demon things! "Hpp" she let out a muffled scream through the gags.
Maua drew her sword. This one was her sharpest. Made of iron. It had a shining golden bolt that was embroidered with two snakes' entwined bodies. They hissed at each other, and they traveled up the blade. It was one of her favorite swords. She motioned for Melanie to do the same and began slashing through the squirrels. She'd rescue her companion, whether she liked Sierra or not (although she secretly actually loved the little kit like her own). Maua growled as the squirrels swarmed her. Some attempting to climb her legs, biting her with their abnormally sharp teeth. Where they bit her, dark venom spread through her blood, creating dark patches on her skin. Maua growled, feeling dizzy as she continued slashing through the squirrels. She'd killed nearly 3/4 of them in mere minutes. Suddenly, the assassin gasped, falling to the ground. The venom had finally taken its toll.
Melanie had watched the whole ordeal with her arms crossed, assuming Maua would take care of it. She chuckled, seeing her slash through the many squirrel-demons. Suddenly however, the assassin had fallen. Melanie's eyes windened. Those squirrels had venom? She bared her teeth and pulled out a sword, the twin to Maua's. She charged, slashing through half the remaining squirrels as they leapt on her. She leapt over the rest suddenly. She slashed free Sierra mid-leap, yelling, "Find some way to heal Maua. She's gotten venom in her blood." She turned, bouncing off the tree skillfully. Maua had taught her much during the brief training preadventure. She slammed into a few of the squirrels, shrely breaking their backs. One gnawed at her leg, was shaken off and stabbed briefly. Melanie slashed through the other four, panting. They were done here.
Sierra nodded, running into the forest. Soon enough, she found the herbs needed, and rushed back, stuffing them in Maua's mouth. The assassin immediately jolted up.
Maua growled, slashing her sword in the air towards imaginary squirrels, before seeing they were gone. "Nice job Melanie. Thank you Sierra." She said, before grumbling, "You could've done better though. You got a bite on your leg."
Melanie rolled her eyes at Maua's comment, taking the herd from Sierra's hand and swallowing some. They were so bitter!
Maua tugged Sierra up from her crouching position and held her above ground by the collar. In her normal gruff voice, she added, "You'll tell us just why you got us into this stupid mess when we get back to camp." She dropped the kit, who was now bawling, and stalked back towards the camp.

Prompt 6

The party enjoyed traveling in the day but at night they were constantly fighting shadow creatures off with their weapons. The creatures looked like kalons but had long fangs and grotesque shaped faces.
The day creatures were pleasant to be around. The forest was filled with
animals like birds, deer, rabbits and squirrels. The were also dangerous animals like bears to deal with. Pests like foxes and raccoons which stole your food and money. As lovely as the place was nobody wanted to be there for long. However if you wanted some animals actually could be used for food. But most of the party had issues with it.
"I don't wanna eat the bunny."-Forager
"Than either starve or suck it up.
Your a kalon and you eat meat."-Seventy
"It was cute though."-Bear sniffed
"You will not be hungry and you will eat this food."-Seventy
"Wait why do you care if he eats and not me?"-Forager
"He's my kit your just a freeloader that tagged along on our quest."-Seventy
"I pitched a tent and solved a puzzle for your stupid quest. My leg got bit in the process. You know what i should eat....all of it."
With that comment Forager grabbed the rabbit in his mouth and walked off.
Seventy smirked and winked at Bear
"Now that he's eating lets find something for us."
Bear giggled loudly in return.

Day 6-Featuring Eden

"Run!" Eden screamed, as she sprinted away through the forest. She had abandoned her tent as a great beast began to chase her. Behind her there were large, thundering steps; a monster had caught their scent, and was now closing in. She ducked through the trees, and leaped over logs and other fallen debris which clustered the ground. Although she could easily maneuver around these obstacles, the beast behind her simply crashed through them in no time flat. This pace would not keep her unharmed for long.

Think, think. What could she possibly do? And what was that? The kalon screeched to a halt in horror, realizing the dire situation before her. The forest ahead was being overrun in some sort of wildlife stampede. Deer, badgers, weasels and more all ran in a large clump. From what, Eden did it know, but what she did know was that there was a monster behind her. In a quick reaction, Eden ducked away under a log,
terrified, however the monster, now realizing the problem too, attempted to stop as well, but was not very good at doing so. It screeched as it was neared the animals, but then quickly whipped around and saved itself by jumping away. It hissed at the animals in fear, and Eden quickly realized that it refused to even get close to the cluster. It wasn't surprising. Most creatures would.

She thought about how to incorporate the stampede somehow into her escape, but she also knew that there wasn't much time. This log was no longer a safe option. The beast had seen her enter it.

When a thunderous cry shook the ground around her, she bolted; but it wasn't towards the way she had come. It was towards the stampede.

Taking a huge breath, the kalon leaped far into the air, and over the badgers which were racing around on the floor. The dust had not yet hit her lungs, and the hard, terrible hooves of deer had not touched her flesh, yet she knew they could. As far as she knew, the beast would not come within this part of the forest. All she had to do now was survive it herself.

Eden twisted mid-air to land safely on a rock. It was a little above the forest floor, which meant that at least she wouldn't be run over. The kalon knew that dust which filled the air was just as dangerous, so she covered her nose and mouth. It wouldn't last long, but hopefully it could protect her for long enough.

She observed the land for as long as she could before her eyes burned too, and knew where to go. A little ways ahead crept a small river. If she could make it to that water, then she would be safe. There was no way that the animals could be running through it in these conditions, for it was too wide.

Eden shook her head to clear her mind. Focus. Her instinct would guide her to the water, for though she trusted her mind, instinct never failed. The kalon backed up a few paces, then burst forewards, though the deer and mice and wolves, running as fast and as far as she could.

Then the blinding dust was over, and a lap of water ticked her feet. Yes. She had made it. Eden was safe.

Prompt Six
Featuring ;;Link and Sunset

Image
The archer and the swordsman ran through the forest getting hit with nearly everything along the path, from tree branches to swarms of bugs, nature seemed to be very unforgiving towards the two, but Sunset put everything behind him. There was a possibility that Gibson was near, and he didn’t want to lose the trail. Link was behind dragged behind him, getting hit by various types of logs and other inanimate objects. There was a slight feeling of regret about giving the news to Sunny, but he wouldn’t dare speak out now.
There was an open space in the meadow, causing Sunset to stop and look around as the scent trail seemed to dissipate and mix with the natural smell of the surrounding area. “Gibson!!” Sunset began to shout. The call echoed through the forest, but was returned with the chatter of birds and various chips from squirrels. Link tapped Sunset’s shoulder in an effort to calm him, as he knew of the apparent dangers that could be present. “Gibson!!” Sunset called again, sounding more desperate than ever.
“Sunset! You’ve got to quiet down! I know you want to find your son, but screaming out his name won’t do much good!! Who knows what beasts lie within this forest, we’ve got to-” Yet again Sunset ignored Link’s warning. He opened his mouth to shout once more, but something stopped him. There was a loud rustling in the bush. Link tensed up, reaching for his sword, Sunset grabbed hold of his bow, aiming towards the noise. The rustling only got louder as the creature drew nearer.
Standing there in waiting, Sunset pulled back the arrow, preparing to be the first to strike, however a small rabbit emerged from the bush leading Sunset to drop the weapon completely. “Aww!! Look at the wittle rabbit! Pfft, and you thought something dangerous was gonna show up!” said Sunset as he approached the fluffy rodent. Link released his sword and raised a brow. “I wouldn’t be too careful dealing with that. It may look cute, but it could be evil” Sunset scoffed as he kneeled to be on the rabbit’s level. “Evil smevil, I know a rabbit when I see one” Sunset slowly reached his paw to pet the small creature, but suddenly the nature of it changed.
Sharp fangs appeared as Sunset’s paw grew closer. The rabbit opened its mouth and latched on to Sunset’s leading to a single tear to form from the corner of the Kalon’s eye. Sunset quickly jumped up and began shaking the fuzzy beast around, trying to detach it from his paw while he ran in circles. “Ah get it off, get it off,get it off!!” He yelled. Link only stood back, leaned up against the tree , laughing till his heart’s desire, “I told you so”

Prompt 6

Ragiel is unfamiliar with fear.

He was always seen as the cool guy, fearless and one of the best hubs for gossip, personal advice, a good sports game or some quality fencing practice.

Secretly, Ragiel admits, he is not fearless: he is reckless, and prone to injury. He is criminal, a bandit, and his 'quality' practice is more like a brutal mess of daggers, throwing knives, and hazardous traps. Many know his advice is more like insults. He does not know how to not be honest, how to feel that rich dreg of emotion so many understand.

How to feel fear.

(He feels emotion, of course. But it stunted, and takes years to learn. Ragiel is about to learn that is not true of fear.)

-

Ragiel's pelt stands out in the dark forest, white and light blue, fluffy and clean, so unlike the wild green, as if the color had been mixed with black and splattered with an oppressive violet, the color shifting like fog across the leaves and spiked vines around him. He is a unassuming target in the malicious forest, with merely a scant wish to find some good wood to burn: Fire to ward the evil away. He had insisted Sen not come, protect Ulyana; she had suggested they all stay together. In the end, Ragiel had said, uncaring for himself, that they had to guard the camp (a perfect place, really, Ragiel thought), and that he would be fine. Sen and Ulyana had been too afraid for themselves to argue further. After all, Ragiel was, in reality, the stranger that had dragged them on this journey, regardless of how well he and Sen got along initially. They had known each other for years.

Ragiel, lost in bitter thought, with his gaze only swaying in front of him in search of wood (idly, he missed the light of Sen's glow), did not notice the lion behind him until it jumped. Ragiel recognized the sound of the snap of tendons and the woosh of leaves from years as a bandit and dives sideways, desperate, suddenly, to survive. The lion crashes on empty ground, their claws just catching on his royal purple tail tuft and the forest floor trembling from impact. It angrily growled, baring its yellowing teeth. The pressure on his tail, momentarily, makes Ragiel's gut become unfamiliarity heavy until he slips free. Ragiel shakes himself, confused of the strange, full body shiver that rattled his bones at the sight of the lion. (It is this forest, Ragiel knows. Once familiar and harmless, even this lion - now, tainted.)

The lion, aside from the stark lightness of its yellow teeth, has a ragged purple pelt, scarred and bloodied in places. It looks rough to touch, so unlike the flowing, brown fur of the lions that had lived along side him, young together, in the forest. The eyes are a match the rest of the terrible beast: bright red, and glowing crimson. Ragiel, momentarily, jokes to himself that it is terribly generic, like something out of a reused book on saving kingdoms and the heroes journey.

Ragiel knows the difference between them and real life: the hero survives, triumphant and glowing.

The lion swipes again, and Ragiel barely dodges, pulling out his twin daggers and pulling down his helm firmly over his eyes. His gear is a light leather with only some iron for flexibility and movement. (Ulyana often complained that he needed plate armor with how often he was injured). Striking forward, Ragiel drags his knives both into a still healing would on the lion's flank, the steel sinking into soft flesh. It is a mistake - the lion howls in fury and slams into his open flank, rattling his grip on his weapons loose until he is flying away.

Those moments feel like forever.

His back slams into the rough bark of the nearest tree, the vines snagging and digging into his already bruised back. He can imagine, under all the fur, a mottled plane of purple and sickly red veins, come a few hours. As his head snaps up against the surface in recoil, and he stares up through the green canopy, a memory comes, unbidden: of younger, carefree days spent with his friends and colleagues, the sun shining, rich and warm on his fur.

It sits starkly in contrast to his trembling limbs and desperate plunge into the opposing set of bushes, weapon less spare for his throwing knives and a potion lended to him by Sen. The lion is frenzied now, striking much more quickly than originally, and Ragiel for the life of him can't remember what Sen's potion does. He can only see, in a slowly growing horror and - fear? - that his knives remain lodged in the lions side, preventing the lion from bleeding out, but allowing for the clearing to be splattered red, like one of those unimpressive abstract paintings in a museum.

As Ragiel tears out his throwing knives from his pouch, lining them like ninjas tools in his fist, he briefly muses in dark humor that this painting is not so abstract anymore. He knows his aim must be true - he only has so many knives.

He throws the first, and misses when the lion charges at him in a blur. It soared far into the distant bushes, far enough in Ragiel's eyes to be a sea at storm. It goes on like this until his hand is empty and his limbs sore from jumping to and fro, like a dance, just without the joy.

His hands shake as he reaches behind for another knife. He is too slow, and the lion rumbles deep in its chest as it glances him again, but deeper this time, as he stumbles sideways. His breathing thunders in his ears, loud enough to drown out the lion's growls. He is sore and hurting from repeated glances of the lion's claws, and too tired. He wonders if the lion can smell his fear the same way he feels the second full body shiver wracking through him, making him nearly drop his knife.

The emotion is real, Ragiel feels, and he wishes desperately he had never felt it with so much clarity. In those few seconds, knowing he has only three knives left and a nameless potion and a relentless lion before him, he feels that fear, tangible and slowly, but steadily, forming a dark, tangled web in his heart and lungs, trapping all his feelings in a ball and making it hard to breathe. Ragiel knows that if he doesn't move, the webs will tangle his legs and freeze him in place, fresh and cold with fear, perfect for the lions next meal.

So he jerks, drawing on that reckless fervor that brought him to these forests as a child, that brought him here today. He throws the potion and it cracks at the lion's feet, stalling in the beast as he rips out his throwing knives, shooting them true into the beasts two eyes. It roars, and the gas from the potion is inhaled directly into its lungs. The purple beast stalls, it's eyes drooping - but Ragiel can tell now, for all this sleep potion might be, it will only last momentarily on the giant beast - so he strides forward, pushing his knees hard into the ground to move his weak limbs forward. His final knife is held like a weight between his hands, the weight of his life and the weight of duty, to survive for Sen and Ulyana (since when did that matter?), and finally, oh finally with desperation and a wild sense of sick joy, he drives the steel firmly into the beasts gut, holding the knife and twisting, until it fell, dead.

Ragiel collapses beside the lion, fumbling for a pulse. He presses his fingers down hard when he finds the place it should be, but there is nothing.

Ragiel exhales in relief, his body folding inwards in exhaustion. He stays like that for what feels like a scant few seconds (but Ragiel knows to be much longer) before he forces himself to stand , grab his weapons, and stumble back to camp.

If, when Ragiel returns, he flinches at every shift in the leaves, and collapses with relief when he reaches Ulyana and Sen's worried golden gazes, the tension seeping from his limbs, it only goes to show what Ragiel already knew:

In real life, the hero never leaves a battle uninjured.

For once, Ulyana does not complain too much about his copious amount of injuries, and neither chose to mention the obvious lack of firewood with him.
