With a heavy sigh, Kachel trekked forward as the sun beat down on him. Sweat was dripping down his face as he dragged his feet through the dirt. In the distance, he could see something sparkling and he had to squint to look at it. Was it some type of metal piece? A gemstone in the distance? Turning his head, he looked over at elfie, "Hey.. can you see what that is?" He asked, and Elfie just shook her head.

As they neared the object, it seemed to be covered in some type of substance. Kachel reached out to touch it and the substance crawled up his arm, so elfie had to quickly slice the substance away, "Let's just call this stuff.. uh.. ick?" Elfie shrugged, knocking the crystal off of the pedestal and the substance crawled right off, but as Elfie went to grab it, something grabbed onto her foot!! Flailing, Elfie tried to cut it off of her, but its grip just got tighter. Thankfully, Kachel stepped in and cut the goo from elfie, and with that, they ran together, the crystal clutched tightly into her hand.

"Come on!" Addie urged her companions as they walked along. "Lets hurry and find that crystal." She cleaned her daggers as she walked ahead of her traveling companions. Naomi frowned and caught up to her. "Your in an awful sudden hurry. What's got you wanting to hurry up with this?" She crossed her arms as she walked. "I'm hungry." Addie answered simply as she began putting her weapons back in their holders.

"....what?" The orange kalon blinked in confusion at her answer, failing to understand. "Finding the crystal doesn't have anything to do with food..." Addie snorted in response. "I know that. But the sooner we find it and get this done the sooner you'll let us sit down and eat. All we've had to eat is a tiny breakfast."

Naomi let out an exasperated sigh. "Oh you poor baby." She snapped sarcastically as they walked. "You act like you don't ever get to eat." Addie ignored her for a moment as they walked and then frowned. "You always get a say in when we sit down and eat, even if we have eaten nothing all day and have been doing nothing but work, unless you said we could stop and eat we wouldn't." She didn't look at her as she talked, just kept walking. "Was I absent on the day we all agreed that you were the leader of this group or did you just assume you could boss us around on a daily?"

The other females ears fell as she grew honestly confused at Addie's question. "I don't.... I suggest when we should stop because I think it may be a good idea, no one said you had to do what I say. And we don't.... there is no leader here. We're just a group." Addie stopped suddenly before turning to her with a cold glare. "You say that.. but you refuse to let anyone go against what you say. You get mad at me for no reason, call me out when I've done nothing wrong. I make a little mistake, and I'm a demon. Cas does it? Oh no it's fine everyone makes mistakes." Her voice had started off low, but now it grew louder.

"Addie-" Naomi started to speak but was cut off as Addie continued to speak. "You want me to leave, don't you?" When Naomi didn't answer, she growled at her. "DON'T YOU?!" Naomi grew silent and stayed quiet, at a complete loss for words.

"The only reason I'm here is because Castiel somehow convinced you to let me tag along. But every single day it's something else that I've messed up that you use as an excuse to not want me around. And when I haven't done anything it's just you complaining about how I don't listen, or how annoying I am! You know Naomi, maybe I wouldn't act like such a brat if you didn't just sigh at the mere mention of my name. I won't have done anything and you'll make up some reason to get angry at me. I speak and you tell me to shut up, no matter what I say." She was fuming as she spoke, tears at the corners of her eyes as she yelled at Naomi.

She didn't give the other Kalon time to respond before she turned around and started to walk off. "If that's all I'm gonna get anytime I breathe wrong then I'm done. I'll go take care of myself." Naomi stood there in stunned silence for a moment before snapping out of her shock. "Castiel stay here! I'll be back!" She said to him before running after Addie into the forest. "Addie! Addie hang on please!" Addie continued to walk away and ignore her. Naomi whined and grabbed her arm, to which Addie quickly snatched it away and turned to face her.

What happened next took place so fast that Naomi was sure she forgot to breathe. In an instant, Addie had a dagger out, posed above Naomi. The other Kalon's heart stopped in that second. Addie was going to kill her! Wasn't she? Maybe she deserved this..

But Addie quickly grabbed Naomi's hand and shoved her behind her, snarling in rage as a shadow beast lunged at them. She slashed at it several times, earning her own slash from the monster across her cheek before striking it one last time and watching it fall dead. Naomi let out a soft squeak before bursting into tears. "A- Addie I-I'm so sorry... I u-understand if you h-hate me I just... I don't think of how o-others feel and I know I sh-should a-and-"

Addie sighed and didn't speak for a moment, clearly letting herself calm down. "Naomi don't cry." She helped her stand up. "I don't hate you. Sure I wanna slap you sometimes because your a jerk but I don't hate you." She offered her a weak smile. "I've.. it's been a lot of little stuff you've done that I've held in and just.. exploded. I think of you as my friend Naomi, I just.. hate feeling like I'm a mistake."

Naomi nodded at her weakly. "I know.. I should have realized how I was being still. I know you hate that, you've told us why and I still.... oh Addie I'm sorry.." Addie hugged her then, holding her close. Naomi stood still for a bit, slightly shocked at the gesture but hugged back after a minute or so. "Let's just.. learn to talk about this stuff okay? No more huge fights over little stuff." Naomi nodded in agreement, and then blinked at her. "What's that?"

She pointed to some small white crystal looking thing next to the beast's mouth. "Dunno, it coughed it up when I killed it." She made a face as Naomi bent down and picked it up. "Ew.."

"Addie I think we just found the crystal!" She gasped in excitment and held it up to her friend. Addie's eyes widened and she grinned. "Well I'll be.." She pulled her back up then. "Lets go back to Cas and tell him then." She chuckled. Naomi nodded and instantly ran off back towards the direction they came from.

"Hey Cas! Look what we found!"

upon further investigating the origin of the gremlins, the trio stumble upon the broodmother. almost as if it were the crest, the elemental stone was set on the beast's muzzle. beleth rushed in head-on, but wasn't aware of what was in store for him.
he lived, and dislodged the crystal.

After the chaos that was last night in Briceus' inn (Arnav's hair still smelled a little bit like rum) Salem was eager to set off from the village, but not before he took Amosis and Arnav to Hadain's armory in an attempt to get their swords and assassin needles looked over. Gotta have their weapons sharp and ready, after all, especially after what they encountered last night. The chaos of what happened at the inn made Salem want to leave the village as soon as physically possible, so he was quick to get a refund for the other nights he paid for at the inn (He barely felt bad over Briceus' apology over their unfortunate run in with the dark beasts).

And admittedly, Salem also wanted to check over his spare gauntlets-- he was alright with Amosis and Arnav playing with them to take care of those gremlins, but they still dented his spare gauntlets in the process. Twits.

(Salem tried not to think about last night. About how he had to physically pry off those soul-sucking demons off of Arnav's quickly weakening body in the middle of the bar. What would have happened, had he not woken up in time?)

Salem's shoulders sagged in relief as he heard Hadain's tired, early morning greeting. That's when Salem saw it, innocently lying on one of the shelves behind Hadain's counter as the blacksmith checked over their weapons. It was a simple thing to trade for the cream-colored crystal-- Hadain must've mistaken it for a quartz, but it wasn't long after Salem and his party left the village that he noticed the gale-force power emanating from the stone.

They had found the wind crystal. {282}

From perspective of Dominque,
I wielded my machete, cutting through thick forestry, creating a path where there was none. Finn and Camille trailed behind me, all silent. Our eyes were trained on our enviroment - Scanning the terrain for a possible clue to the whereabouts of the crystal. I knew we were approaching a cliff, and soon enough would have to turn back.
"It has to be somewhere around here - Come on!" Finn complained, tired from the lack of sleep. "Any luck?"
"If found anything, I would've of told you." I responded, absent-minded.
Hours passed in the hot sticky jungle, to no avail. We were just about on the edge of the cliff, all of us weary.
As we emerged from the end of the jungle, we were treated with a breathtaking view of - suprise, suprise! More trees. Only, they were 200 feet below. Camille walked forward, and before I could protest, she flomped down and sat with her feet dangling over the cliff.
"What are you doing? Do you want to fall and die!" I exclaimed, worried. Finn stepped back, knowing where not to get involved. We all were cranky from the humid weather and lack of sleep. Camille was about to open her mouth to respond, but something caught her attention.
"Dominque - Shut up about falling for a minute and look! See that small outcrop? Theres a cave in the cliff. Thats the bottom of it sticking out. This - This could be what where looking for. That is, if were willing to take the risk of not having a way out. Or y'know, not dying when we, or I jump down in the off chance I miss the ledge and plummet to my death."
I gaped at her, shocked. So many things could go wrong with that plan! And yet - I felt the cave calling to me. I couldn't just walk away from this, if this is what were looking for. I shook my head. What was I thinking? No way.
Camille shrugged. "Eh, I'm doing it anyway," and slipped of the cliff. I didn't dare look down, not wanting to see the remains of my friend. Instead, a few minutes later I heard this:
"'Hey, are we looking for some big glowing crystal thingie? Cause it's here alright" That's when I fainted.

onion, since birth, has been fascinated with the world. as a kid and teenager, he used to travel all over the place, and he learned much of the land because of it. he eventually chose to live the life of a simple farmer though, in the outskirts of kalokairi. when dark times struck the kingdom, onion received a letter, stating that he was to join a party and search for the four crystals. he doesn't understand why, of all people, he was chosen for this job. lis later deemed him the party's 'mage,' as well as the guide. onion doesn't actually know any magic, so his role is mostly for show. he's practiced some magical alchemy, though...?

lis has always wanted to be a hero. she's trained since she was a little kid, and these days, she's very strong and skilled with a sword! she never stops moving, as she's always looking for some sort of quest to complete (hopefully, one that includes some violence!). not only is she a high leveled knight, but her excitable nature is also hard to beat. when kalokairi announced they were looking for heroes to save the kingdom, lis was one of the first to volunteer. completing this quest will make her name known throughout the lands! when she met her party, she proclaimed herself leader (well, she is the oldest?), and has been giving orders ever since.

reuben is sort of an uninteresting character, in terms of background. he's just some kid who's lived in kalokairi his whole life. but personality-wise? reuben is whack. more than anything, he lives to have fun, regardless of how he'll get it. in this sense, he's very dangerous, because good and evil are concepts he doesn't abide by. if something interests him, he'll go for it, whether it's conventionally 'good' or 'bad'. fortunately, kalokairi sending our heroes is a good thing. reuben signed up because everyone in town was lethargic and boring because of the apparent curse. he's hunted animals before, so he's the archer in his party.

Our heroes have ventured deep within the forest.

The ground is soft; With every step, they sink into it just a little more. Our heroes are sure that with enough steps, the forest will swallow them whole. The colors are dull, only dreary browns and somber greens. Is the flora a step from death, or is there really so little light that comes through the leaves above? Our heroes wonder if the creatures here can see color at all; It’s not an ability they seemingly need. Sometimes, though, there’s a spot of red. The red comes in pairs of two. When our heroes turn to see what it is, it disappears. They fear there is something watching them. They fear there are many things lurking, just out of sight. But despite their fear, the forest is silent. There are no birds, no chirping or even the ‘hoo’s of an owl. There are no crickets or cicadas. The grass does not rustle with movement, and there’s no wind to muse throughout the trees.

Our heroes look nervous, but they press on. Lis makes a joke to try and brighten the mood, but nobody laughs, and nobody smiles. They each stay alert. They can’t abandon this quest now.

"come on, guys," francis chirped brightly as he weaved under a low-hanging vine that barely brushed
the top of his head. "you walk sooooo slow." from behind francy there was a muffled grumble,
coming from none other than lawrence. "fight me lance." ever since their journey had begun, law had
been purposely 'forgetting' francis's name. he'd already called him 'french' twice, and 'fish' once.

francis shot a glare over his shoulder, though he wasn't really irritable. trailing behind lawrence,
the vine that both france and law had walked under smacked william in the face, who let out a surprised
squawk. he brushed aside the hanging limb, scrubbing the top of his head to brush away any creepy-crawlies
who may have fallen into his hair. "it's so humid," he complained lightly, tugging at the sleeves of his hoodie.
"and there's lots of noises." as if on cue, a sharp rustle sounded from off to their right. all three males jumped
out of their skin, and whirled towards the sound. francis's curiosity was piqued, but the others didn't seem to share
his enthusiasm. lawrence wrung his hands together - his specialty was navigation, by the stars, definitely not
fighting off vicious beasts in the middle of nowhere.

"will!" he wailed, scrambling to leap onto the tall male's back and cling there like a baby koala. "don't let it get
me!" william grunted with the sudden weight gain, but didn't shove law off - he was used to his short friends hitching
rides from time to time. "francis, don't get hurt," will cautioned, his eyes bright with worry. "it might be dangerous."

francis ignored the warning, stepped forward into the brush, a large limb that he'd found to use as a walking stick
clutched in his hand. he pushed aside the tall grass, to reveal...

lawrence screeched, but the shriek petered out as he realized what he was looking at. the small turtle blinked
curiously at law. "uh - hehe." lawrence hopped off william's back, brushing his legs off self-consciously as the
turtle ambled away. "hah, i knew it was a turtle. got you guys. haha. hah." a long paused ensued, only for law
to interrupt it with a falsely-cheerful "anyways! let's get going, guys. time's a-wastin'!"

as they continue walking, william observes the scenery. the canopy above consisted of massive, palm-like fronds
and spiny, thickly leaved trees. with his head tilted upwards, will stumbled, and reached out to catch himself,
bracing his hand against a tree. when he looked towards his hand, a faint green glow emanated from the smooth,
glass-like bark. he removed his hand, watching as the green light faded back into the tree. his gray eyes shifted
away from the tree and, as will watched, francis walked through a patch of thick green foliage, the flora flattening
against the ground to create a sort of stepping stone. it was almost like footprints marking where the kals had been
so far, but not one that would help them find their way back. the circular patch sprung back up to normal almost as
soon as france stepped away.

william suppressed a shudder - this forest was so strange.

A ɴᴇᴡ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ! Tʜᴇ Fᴏʀᴇsᴛ ᴜɴʟᴏᴄᴋs!

His nostrils filled with the sweet scent of pine as Minnow took his first step into the forest. Despite its similarity to the woods he'd been in the previous day, there was a definite difference between the two areas. These woods were far less welcoming in nature, and despite the fragrant aroma drifting throughout, something felt very off. Whilst the trees' smell may have been sweet, there was a certain sicklyness to it, which sent shivers down the kit's spine. The wildlife also seemed to be more dull in this place. With the exception of a few stray cricket noises, it was mostly silent in these woods. If there were any birds, they certainly weren't singing. Being reminded of the incident he'd have the previous night when he found the crystal, he cringed at the amount of silence there was. Minnow had never liked quiet areas, and this was the epitome of his fear.

Despite its creepiness, Minnow couldn't deny the forest's charm. It was one of the most beautiful places he'd had the fortune of venturing through, with its tall greenery and vibrant green growths. He couldn't help but recall a myth he had once read, where a beautiful, verdant garden was owned by a terrifying monster who'd used it to lure in passing travellers. The thought of it made him shudder. Shrugging off the memory, he continued his trek through the forest.
