prompt one // thank u internet for going out
Harper sat at the edge of the lake, sitting around a ring of regrets and mistakes. he knew all of the community had brought the monster upon them, cowardly insulting one another, and this was their awful karma. he sighed, knowing he had played into the whole mess as well, and felt every breath as a knife. everything was spinning, and he didn't want to run into the war. he wore a suit of armor, the metal as heavy as the guilt in everyone's chest. he stood up slowly, looking around at everyones emotionless faces, holding his sword in his grip, knowing if he cried, he'd be weaker than when he started. it was as if carrying a boulder with all the cold gray metal, but he collected himself, mentally preparing for the war. he felt a gentle breeze as a wagon rode next to him, and asked “ready, sir?”

Prompt One
Sakura - Healer | Neo & Candi- Undecided | Avery - Warrior
Sakura gave a tired sigh as he looked down at the wooden table below him. The assortment of knives, daggers, and swords sat there, looking back up at him. Weapons weren't really his thing; but he needed to bring something for his journey. Two kalons out of his village were chosen to embark on a quest to please their royal kingdom. The king would choose one peasant while the queen would choose the other. This was normal for places ruled by someone higher up. If the pair had a prince or a princess, they would choose a third. Sakura was happy he only had to work with one partner. His ears perked up when he heard shouts coming from the kitchen.
"Avery?" Sakura called, turning around to approach the noise. As soon as he turned around he regretted it. The two-headed creature that went by the name of Neo and Candi was there to greet him. On top of the beast sat a small blue kalon. Avery had done it now. Since realizing they had to work together, he was always bringing weird things back to Sakura, and without reason too. Avery had wanted a third ‘friend’ while Sakura didn't.
“Can he come with us, please!?” Avery begged, putting on his best puppy eyes.
“Fine. Grab your things, we’re going.” Sakura gave in, knowing that Avery wouldn't let up. When they set off, they brought an assortment of survival gear.

Anthony, Abel and Donn set out of the town, coming across no other person but certainly hearing other brave adventurers in the distance. However, as it was dark they had no choice but to stop for the night and set up a camp in a clearing somewhere in the forest. At night, the sound of Anthony practicing his spells kept the two adult's accompanying him awake, and Abel turned with a groan. Donn sat up and walked out of the camp to find his descendant in another clearing by himself, wand smoking and embers on the ground beneath them.
He watched curiously as he attempted to pull off a certain spell, and smiled with a kind of amusement as he continued on. Donn would fall asleep by a tree, watching Anthony practice, shooting a magical energy from the tip of the wand, a very faint and weak magical energy that only served to create a tiny spark.
The next morning they would come across a path, which forked in two directions. Anthony and abel would bicker over which path to take, however, donn wordlessly continued down the left path, and the two scrambled to catch up with them. On their way they would come across a small village, where they were stay for the next few nights.

After some squabbling they voted with stones to choose the path they would choose, Louis decided he wanted to go right so they all decided to go right. After a good while of forest and rough terrain they stumbled upon a small temple, it seemed to be full of chanting. Best if they didn't go in there, the trio decided to rest further down in a clearing with a small lake. In the distance can be seen a large mountain with some smoke almost coming from the inside of the mountain. Perhaps a house inside the mountain? They decided to check it once they were done with their break. They were correct! No one answered the five or so knocks so they decided to stay outside till someone came out or in.

Prompt 2
Squabbling between the three cut their journey to a halt much too soon. Oh they had made such good progress just for Rossa and Apollyon to ruin it. They had been fighting for 10 minutes about the direction to head from and no matter how hard Roxanne tried to sort them out, they'd fight even more.
Apollyon was convinced they should go along the waterfall, what bad could be around a beautiful waterfall? Rossa was convinced they should go through the forest, who hides out in a forest? Both at the end of their ropes, they agreed that they shall each go their separate ways on separate paths. Roxanne would travel with Apollyon to defend him as we can all agree he would stand a chance against any sort of monsters the darkness may spout as they travel closer and deeper.
They'd meet up in the end, of course, but would each reach the end? Yes, they did. Turns out they were both right, well as right as they could be. Sure their was a few scratches coming out but no one died or anything? Sounds like a win in their book.

[ this prompt includes aelius ]
Aelius shifted formidably as a wave of uncertainty came over him as he stared intently at the two paths laid out before him. Both led to ominously dim-lit forests and neither looked quite inviting. Rather, they seemed to be the same forest as he couldn't quite make out which was different . . .
Then suddenly, it dawned upon him. The trees to his left was eerily quiet. No birds sung from the branches. The leaves did not seem to rustle as not even the slightest breeze blew there. A faint scent of blood, although stale, was caught from that direction and Aelius was afraid of what might lie in store beneath the trees' canopy. He thought he glimpsed an odd shape weaving its way around casting strange shadows in peculiar places, but he had looked away quickly not wanting to wait and see what might happen.
When he looked to his right, however, the trees were alive as his ears twitched at the varying sounds of wildlife scuttling and scuffling through. But something irked him. As the other way had been quite still, these woods seemed to sway. The patch of trees closest to him seemed to twist slowly and leaned his way, the branches curving downward to Aelius' frame set below their wide trunks. They seemed as if they were to be curiously gazing upon him and perking their ears at his presence beneath them. If not even more odd, Aelius heard the trace of a song echoing from farther along down the shadow dappled path. Light didn't seem to filter down very well upon the pathway, although it was broad daylight. He squinted with great difficulty but couldn't see what lie ahead. His vision only took him to see only more trees. The woods seemed to last forever onward.
But, Aelius had made up his mind. He would be embarking upon the bitten road to his right as it seemed he might not encounter as much danger as he might if he were to go along the road to his left. However, as he lingered closer to the foot of the trees, the world felt as if it spun, only for a moment, as he felt the trees twist once again in their fluid motions, carried by the breeze and the direction their leaves blew as they faced Aelius' approaching shape as the queer singing voice seemed to grow louder. With one swift glance backwards, Aelius remembered his parents, his best friend, his family and friends . . . everyone he had left in the town behind him. The way back no longer seemed plausible as the trees curved again, closing him in.
Turning back slowly, Aelius continued on his way, a paw placed lightly upon the strap of his bag and the other hung loosely at his side, ready to reach for the arrows tucked within the quiver strapped on his shoulder and gently shifting across his back. Pawstep after pawstep, Aelius grew more and more nervous as he continued along the roadway, very much aware of the light growing dimmer the deeper he delved and his eyes trained on the trees surrounding him.

with eniko ─ the healer
the road less traveled by:
eniko stood under the lamp post, her hands trembling as she held tightly onto her necklace. her pitch black eyes looking from left to right, in front of her were two paths. a fork in the road she was never one for making decisions and as this being her first time outside of her woods she felt as though this simplistic choice would make her collapse. she let go of her gem necklace and clasped her hands together, which way you must make a choice! she told herself and bit her bottom lip. she then slowly closed her eyes, she placed a finger over her heart and gentle massaged the area in small circle. she had to calm herself or else she'd fall into the nothingness and be lost forever in the back of her mind.
only a few moments had past before she was fully calm again, she took a breath and opened her eyes. she took a step forward standing directly in front of the two paths. she looked first to her left and gaze far down the path. she saw a twinkling of light down the path, as there were no street lamps to light the way there, she'd be traveling on pure instinct alone. that idea made her wearing of such a path but the light that seemed to dance at the end of the path lured her, it waved up and down and flashed different colors gently. she pulled her eyes away from the intriguing light to look to the right. the other path that stood before her, it was a well lit area with low stone walls on either side of the path but something inside her told her no. she gazed at it longer, and the longer she stood there staring at it the more she noticed what was wrong with it. there were thorn roots growing over the stone wall, a flash of an unholy creature lurking down the path in the shadows. bones that seemed to be stuck in between the walls loose stones. a crow that hung ominously on the next lamp post that would stop staring at her with red beady eyes.
eniko shook her head at this point and turned to the left of her, she nodded to herself and took a step onto the dirt path. her mind was made up, after all isn't the light at the end of the tunnel is a good thing right?
