What makes them unique?:
|| The art of lying ||
Quickly, hide. Hold your breath. Someone's coming. Quiet footsteps getting closer in the dark foggy night, increasing fear with every footstep heard. It's getting closer.
"Oh hello, I didn't notice you there!"
"AHHH-"
"I-oh! Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you! What are you doing here in this corner out so late?"
"I was.. I was chased! That's right! You better hide too, or it will find you!"
Lying. This was nothing new to Cassius. It didn't matter if the situation was a minor inconvenience, there would always be an "excuse" to save himself from his position - no matter how awkward. It was indeed a foggy night, dark and filled with the chirping of crickets. Cass had simply gone looking in the corners of the gardens for an answer to what the stem of a tomato plant looked like up close. A very...Strange curiosity. Perhaps too odd and irrelevant to admit, especially during the night when everyone is sleeping. But that wouldn't be a problem, Cass had just the thing for the cover up.
"The monster... It had gleaming red eyes, claws like spears, crushing teeth.. It had the shape of a huge songrem, but I couldn't see it so clearly. I barely got away! I'm lucky I found this garden! I was just out picking berries when I saw it, the red eyes peering from the bushes. I.. I.. Before I knew it, I was on my legs running for my dear life! It almost got me, and I might not live to see another day if it finds me again. It's hungry, I know it. It's hungry for souls. It might find me any moment-"
"WHAT?!"
"Keep your voice down.. It might hear us, eat us up.. And then we'll never get to go home.. Never see our beloved family again..!"
Wide eyed, the fellow grem fled at the idea of being eaten up - its stubby little feet taking it as quickly as it could go. Cassius grinned, grabbing a tomato from the garden corner he was still standing in.
"Hehe... Yeah, monster."
________
"Where have you been, man?! I heard the chimes go off at.. At around 2 AM! Where were you last night?! We were kinda getting worried you wouldn't come back!" Cassius's friend spoke shakily to him as he rested his elbows on the table. Of all nights, Cass decided to pick the night of his friend's sleepover to check out the answer to his strange curiosity.
"I was chased."
"Eh?"
"Yeah, I was chased! You might think that size is everything, but last night.. I learned that it's not everything... I saw what I thought was a cute little kid. But when I got a closer look, his eyes were gleaming red, his claws were like spears, teeth sharp enough to break the hardest metals! I barely escaped with my life, when all I went to do was pick berries!"
Cassius's friend shook his head. He believed the story, he really did - but something wasn't adding up.
He'd already heard this a bit differently from another source.
Strange fellow for a friend, I guess.. I'm sure that it doesn't matter much anyway, though, right?
