memory:
It was so long ago....I was only nine....Let me try to remember...Ah, yes. It started like this....

"Is...is it cured...?" He watched as clouded faces stood all around him, speaking in muffled voices. His eyes were blurry. "What's going on?" He couldn't move, he was too tired. He then heard a loud squeal and ran over to hug him on the bed. He could tell she was crying. "Mom..." His vision then started to fade, and everything went black. Mira woke up with a jolt, eyes now focused and good enough to look around. "I'm home..." He spoke, getting out of bed. A surge of pain struck his head, and he groaned, clutching his forehead. "You're awake." A female's voice spoke. Mira looked up and saw his mother with a tray in her hands, with a bowl of hot chicken soup. "Hi mom." He whispered, smiling at her. Mira's mother stated to cry. "Mom, what's wrong?" He asked,
surprised. She wiped her tears. "Oh honey...you're cured." Mira's eyes widened with shock. "N-no way...I'm...I'm going to live?"
Mira's mother nodded, placed the tray down, and ran over to hug him. "You're free Mira...Free from cancer..."

name: Prince
gender: agender
memory: and their friend Rhen were abducted by aliens. (Story below! ^^)
Prince looked up at the sky, looking for constellations of the ones that marked their pelt. Rhen wore a smile on her face, her tail curling around Prince. As they watched the stars together, a greenish light caught Rhen's eyes and she tensed up. Prince looked at her with a worried expression. "What's wrong?" Prince asked as Rhen stood up. Rhen shoved Prince away as the ship crashed right in front of them. A strange humanoid figure walked out and grabbed them, before they could run. They both squealed in terror as the ship took off with them. Rhen took a good glimpse of the alien and nudged Prince, getting their attention. "What?" Prince whispered to Rhen as she handed Prince her phone. Before Prince could shoot a video, Prince's vision went black. Waking up beside Rhen, Prince tensed and looked around. They were back on land, and Rhen was showing Prince a video of the footage she captured. It turns out, they captured a weird mutant looking alien with four eyes and gray skin. They kept to themselves and told no one.

When Atlas was five, he went camping with his parents. The woods were very isolated from any cities, which his mother insisted on so they could go stargazing without light pollution. They hiked up the heavily forested mountain to get to their campsite. It was around 7:00 AM, as he lived in a family of early-risers, so the birds were singing and the sun had just come up in the sky. It was the beginning of autumn, so it was chilly as they hiked. "Perfect weather for camping." His father pointed out happily. Atlas simply nodded, engrossed with the beautiful scenery around him.

They arrived at the campsite after an hour of hiking. They started setting up in a clearing, Atlas helping his mother set up the tent while his father started cooking on the small gas stove. He doesn't remember much about this, but according to his father they all killed time by going to the pond and playing with the frogs.

Once sunset came his mother made the family rush back to the campsite to see the stars. They watched as the sun disappeared under the horizon in a pink and orange blaze, and the sky started to turn purple and soon enough dark blue. The stars also came quickly, shining brilliantly and bringing light to the otherwise inky black sky. Atlas was immediately entranced, barely taking his eyes off of them. It looked like a painting, with stars added meticulously by the artist and things that almost looked like clouds being airbrushed in the background. The entire scene was ethereal, and nobody in the family had ever seen anything like it.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" His mother asked with a smile, only receiving a quick yet enthusiastic nod back. She chuckled, pulling him onto her lap as she studied the constellations. "You don't get this in the city." His father said, all while recording and taking photos of the interaction. He soon joined the two, and they watched the stars until Atlas started dozing off and they had to bring him back to the tent.

They stayed at the camp for two more days, and then returned to the camp every couple months after that first trip.

When Atlas was ten, his mother got into a car crash and suffered major injuries. They tried everything they could, but she ended up dying in her hospital bed a week after it happened. The following months were a blur of grief and confusion as Atlas' father scrambled to get their lives together in the middle of grieving, as he was a stay at home dad before and relied mostly on his wife for economic support. and Atlas tried to bottle everything up so his father could focus on more important things. This could only end badly, with Atlas eventually breaking down and getting emotional support from his friends and family. Now Atlas has the picture his father took from that first camping trip hanging near his bed, and every so often he and his dad will sit together and watch the recording, to remember the good old days when things were simple.
(writing needs to be polished, and I also might add a bit of art if I have time.)

WIP, but if the contest ends before it's finished please take it as a complete form and enter me into the contest. Thanks, I really like this guy ;w;

Five gold necklaces dangled from the queens neck, she cackled "Take them away! their so plain with their foul smelling and dark purple colored pelts. Ha! their not even so much as a animal!" The air swirled with the scent of cherries, a guard poked at them with sharp spears that tied to a stick, They stayed In an underground cave with only one skylight that only showed the night sky and blocked out the sun whenever it came up. Then one day there was a bomb and everybody was able to escape as an entrance broke open, they escaped with the pelts of stars but some who hid in shadows and chose not to look at the sky stayed blank and dull. They were finally free of the teasing they got from the others, and everybody would admire them.

the light is both dim and illuminating, casting a long, dark shadow across every surface. the grass, damp and slightly muddled from the rain the previous night, conforms to your paws easily.
