Cloaks, Bags and Hair wrote:When it comes to the nursery batches, we let the owner have a bit of freedom with their babies, by allowing them to choose the cloak, bag and hair design once they are grown.
When the rolls are being done, the artist will roll for the cloak and bag type, but will not design them. Rather, they will simply state what they rolled once the litter is done, and once the baby is being grown, the owner has free reign of what colours and patterns are used.
There are no hair rolls, meaning once the baby is grown, the owner can choose to do whatever they want with it! This does not include removing it entirely.
You may choose a design ahead of time, but you may only add it to your baby once you have grown them.
Orphan Batches wrote:Every once in a while, an artist will release a batch with no pre-existing parents, which means you can adopt them!
The babies in an orphaned batch will still look similar to each other, and will still need to be grown, but the difference is that they can be adopted by any member on ChickenSmoothie just like regular and event adopts, through competitions!
➸ Babies in an orphan batch are usually adopted seperately, though sometimes one person can win the entire batch
➸ The rules for adopting these are the same as adopting ones on the main thread, so check that out!
Two Parent wrote:➸ The breeding process starts when you either find a breeding partner, or decide to breed two of your own. You post a form on this thread, and when an artist accepts it, your litter is being designed.
First, an artist will go to this site for the dice.
They will use d6 to roll for how many are in the litter, and will only pay attention to number in the 'results' box.
They then pay attention to the parent's traits, and this is where it gets difficult.
Let's say these are our parents:Example Parent 1 wrote:Legendary Traits: Gills
Rare Traits: Horns, duffel bag, no pupils
Uncommon Traits: Tongue edit
Standard Traits: Short chest fluff, hair, long tail, ground length cloakExample Parent 2 wrote:Uncommon Traits: Tongue edit, bob tail, lunchbox bag
Common Traits: Ankle length cloak
Standard Traits: Round pupils, short chest fluff, hair
First we roll the legendary trait, gills, using the d20.
If the number is 1-18, the legendary trait is lost. If the number is 19-20, the trait is kept.
Let's say we rolled 4, which means our baby does not get gills.
Let's move on to the rare traits.
We roll for horns using d12, as horns is a rare trait. Getting 10-12 means we keep it. However, we roll 5, and thus the trait is lost.
Now for the duffel bag. This is not a standard trait, and neither is Parent 2's bag. Parent 2's is uncommon. We roll d12 to see if we get Parent 1's duffel bag. We roll 7, and now we have to try to Parent 2's lunchbox bag.
When rolling for uncommons, we use d10. If we get 7-10, we keep the trait. Fortunately for us, we roll 10 and keep the lunchbox bag. Had we rolled anything lower than 7, the bag trait would have reverted to the standard bag trait, cross-shoulder.
Now it's time for Parent 1's last rare trait, no pupils. We roll 8, and so we lose the trait. As Parent 2's pupil trait is standard, we do not have to roll and it automatically reverts to the standard pupil, round.
Now it's time for uncommon traits.
As we can see, both parents have tongue edits, and let's say they have different tongue edits, with Parent 1 having an extra long tongue and Parent 2 having an extra short tongue.
We roll d10 for Parent 1's tongue, and roll 4, thus losing the extra long tongue. We roll d10 again for Parent 2's tongue, and get 9, thus the baby gets Parent 2's tongue. Had the second roll resulted in a number under seven, the baby would get the standard tongue length, which is not listed on the rarities guide.
Parent 2 has a tail edit for uncommon, and as they have the higher rarity this time, we roll them first. We roll d10, and get 1, thus getting Parent 1's tail as theirs is a standard.
We have already dealt with the lunchbox bag, so we can skip this.
In breeding, commons roll use d4, with the success being 3-4.
We roll Parent 2's ankle length cloak and get 3, so the trait passes. Had we failed, it would have been demoted to ground-length.
Standard traits are fairly simple. There's nothing to demote a trait to, and thus we don't need to roll. See, both parents have short chest fluff. As short chest fluff isn't customizable, it's guaranteed the baby will have that trait. Both parents have hair, too, but as hair is a trait that's determined by the owner, we don't need to worry about that.
So this is our baby:Example Baby wrote:Uncommon: Lunchbox bag, tongue edit (parent 2)
Common: Ankle length cloak
Standard: Long tail, short chest fluff, hair, round pupil
We repeat for any other babies that were rolled.
That's it! If you have any questions, please message me! Artists, remember to show proof on legendary and rare rolls!
Three Parent wrote:This breeding works almost exactly like the two parent breeding. We start with the parent of highest rarity for that trait, and go to the next, and then to the next. If two or more parents have a customizable trait (such as horns or tongue edits) that passes, we handle it just like the two parent breeding.
Though, if all three parents have the same customizable trait and all are different, we need to use a custom die to decide which parent's is received.
At the bottom of the list, there is one with two extra text boxes. Put the number 3 in the first box, and the number 1 in the second box. Leave the third box 0, as it is with the other dice. If we roll 1, Parent 1's trait is received. If we roll 2, then Parent 2's is received, and if we roll 3, then Parent 3 passes down their genes.
That's it, the only difference!
Orphan Batch wrote:This one isn't very different either. Artists choose two or three colour palettes as well as two or three trait lists and use those instead.
