Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

This odd-looking cat was brought in by someone who said that she had been rummaging through their garbage.
The person had caught it and wasn't sure what to do with her, eventually bringing her to us. The cat has hissed a bit but
she isn't mean, just scared. She also had a wound on her tail, leaving it with a permanent kink along with a nick in the
cat's ear. The staff here have no idea what happened to the nervous little girl.

Marsha was born a house cat in a litter of four with three brothers. One day while out playing in the garden she and her siblings noticed rustling and strange noises comeing from one of the bushes in the yard. Wanting to seem brave, Marsha creeps over cautiously to investigate. Soon she's only a breath away from the bush when a mass of grey and black fur twice her size comes snarling out towards her! Her brothers hiss and scramble towards the lawn chair their mother lounged in as the raccoon lunged at Marsha scratching at her ears. Marsha now panicked and deeply terrified, turns to run, only to have the massive coon bite down on her tail and shake her about. Suddenly she's free. Leaping onto her feet she takes off, running in a blinded panic through a gap in the garden fence and down several streets and neighboring yards not looking back to see what made the raccoon stop its attack. Had she, she would have seen her mother chasing the creature out of the garden. When she finally stops running she finds herself very lost. Over time the scratches healed to scars and her tail remained crocked but otherwise fine. She has been living alone ever since. Because of that ordeal she has trouble trusting others but will eventually warm up to people.
( long story short she was attacked by a raccoon.)
