The strong minty toothpaste trying to wake you up in the morning
The blue haze that fills a room in darkness
The buzzing television screen that hypnotizes you, so tired you could slip into dreamland but you just want to finish that episode
The frothy bubbles of a wave tickling your toes on a sandy beach
The crisp blue sky that invited the neighbourhood childrens' kites
The soft jingling of the bell tied round the cat's neck
The worn down rug glinting next to the fireplace
The abstract painting that no one understands, but everybody loves
The sweet, unrecognizable smell that reminds you of childhood
The "bloonk" of a pebble dipping into a lake
The whiz of a fishing rod in your father's hands
The soft, angelic eyes of your mother as she gave you a goodnight kiss
The cozy old blanket that should have been thrown out long ago, but you wouldn't dare
A hot summer's night
The blue fighting against a blazing campfire
The rain that makes others cold, but you're the only one it keeps warm
The twisted old tree that you climbed to impress your friends
The long grass you dozed in with your dog
The sparkling blue soda you bought on a day out in the park with your friend
The miniscule, delicate flowers that shivered in the breeze
A babbling brook which never had fish, but you always looked for them anyway
The hammock that rocked gently like a mother's arms
The bright blue website full of online games that you secretly played on at school in the computer lab when the teacher wasn't looking
The remote control car that could barely conquer a twig, but you thought it was the coolest monster truck in the world
The softening cry of a baby as she calms down to her mother's voice
The whirl of the world around you as you're spun around in your father's strong arms
The birds you wish you could become, to sit serenely on your perch and bellow out songs to the world
The frost on a kitchen window on a frigid morning
The cool blue that bootprints in the snow get
The crisp water from glaciers far away, though it doesn't seem to taste any different
The long, seemingly endless car rides during road trips with your family
The window in a math classroom
The feather of the common jay, overlooked and ignored but beautiful nonetheless
An angry crab scuttling under a rock after you lifted his
The clicks of your old dog's nails approaching you
The musk of home
Christmas lights with more than a few blown out
A broken bike
The "potion" children make out of crazy drinks, guaranteed to turn you into anything you wanted
Almost, but not quite, at the point of understanding that new math concept
A scratchy throat in the morning
The off-key notes of your middle school band, amateur but joyous
The summer berries that make the berry-picker not even notice a thorn prick
A warm but slightly awkward hug from a friend
The anticipation of getting your test results back
Seeing your driver's license for the first time, too happy to notice the bad photo
The braces of the quiet classmate that warp her into a pit of self-consciousness, but she gets nothing but compliments on the new look.
The noisemaker you honked on New Year
The statue that stood alone in the abandoned city, a history deep within its eyes
The white picket fence that held a world of mystery behind it
The burst of tart in your mouth that comes with a freshly baked blueberry pie

aesthetic:: Slow days at home. Open screen windows. Fruit-infused water. Humming a song to yourself as you work. Seeing an animal in the clouds. Your family's engulfing hug, holding you close. Mint chip ice cream in sugar cones. Running through the park aimlessly. Bare feet in the mud. Cold water. Catching minnows in a plastic bucket. Finally coming to a realization after days of uncertainty. Stick fights in the woods. Blue raspberry slushies. Warm thunderstorms. When you've had a hard day and you see a gift waiting for you when you come home. A cat-patterned umbrella and muddy yellow boots. Fish tanks with cute fish swimming idly inside. The smell of earth. Looking for frogs in the grass. Dipping your toes in the creek. Oranges. Hugging your favorite stuffed animal to your face when you're sad. Sleeping with the windows open. Brightly-colored playground equipment. Band-aids with your favorite characters on them. Bumblebees and dragonflies. Being hit with a sudden wave of nostalgia, you're crying and you don't even know why. Climbing the apple tree. Laying under the trees to feel the light, warm breeze in the lazy afternoon. Visiting a place you remembered when you were young only to find nothing's really changed at all. A single tear of happiness, shed upon seeing your childhood home for the first time since you left it.

the cold, gentle touch of the window by morning.
the continuous hum of the freezing night breeze as the city lives without light.
the fresh, crisp air that caresses your cheek as you walk out the door.
when the sky is dark blue and the trees are pitch black, just about 5:44.
the first calm ca-coos and coo-hoos from the pigeons that rest upon a flickering street lamp.
a slight touch of warmth that rests upon a cold face.
shaded concrete, a single finger away from scorching gravel.
the brightness of a fountain and the coolness of its touch.
when the sky is a light blue, a hot pink, a waning yellow, and a passionate orange, a split second within 7:45.
the pull on your eyes as they are depraved of rest.
the night train, cruising on rusty, dusty rails, calling out its harrowing howl to a moonless sky.
