Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

These dogs were found lingering around the highway. We got a call about them and picked them up without any trouble- they seemed glad to be around people, and were very friendly with one another. Fliers were put up and ads were sent out, but no one has claimed them: instead, all we got were photos of these three from places around the world. It seems these three are travelers who lost their owner... but the owner won't take them back, so we are now adopting them out after a few months of being in a foster home.
During that time one of the staff fell in love with the wolfhound mix and decided to adopt him, but the two merles are ready to go to good homes. It appears the two may be siblings, but since we don't know the original owner it's just a guess.
We prefer them to go to homes where they will get plenty of exercise, and maybe see each other once and a while. Given that they were used to traveling often, they have tons of energy. They're very quick and agile, so be sure to keep this in mind.

Adopt and custom pair! This is like the first time I've ever drawn a merle so we're just rolling with it. As the little tidbit says, this is my other custom (because apparently I have a thing for german shepherd mixes now?) and they're always being bothered by the two little merles.

These two kiddos who are up for adopt will be a semi-impress me that will end on April 16th; you can partner up with someone, but this is not required! You can also enter for both of them as well, it won't be counted for or against you :" >

For the theme of this contest, I want you to tell me (through art, writing, or otherwise) all about their favorite place. For the prompt you have as much words/art as you want, just know it has to actually have relevance to the theme. If you just have a photo of them sitting and nothing else, it won't pertain to the theme.
Other than the theme, you can have up to two art pieces and up to 1000 words to do whatever pleases you. Any prettying up does not use up your word count; if you do anything off site things like headers will not count in the word count either.

Are we allowed to make our form fully off site?


Yep! You can do your form directly on here, have it be on a different part of CS (character board), or off site on sites like weebly, wix, tumblr, etc.
Just be sure you link it back here before judging starts, otherwise I won't know where your form is!



For the "About their favorite place" part of the form, are we allowed to put both art AND writing?


Of course! For the 'favorite place' part, you can do anything to your hearts content; it just has to be related to the prompt!



Are gifs/animations allowed for that "about their favorite place" part of the form?


Gifs/animations are all allowed, if you also plan on doing one for the extra art pieces as well it will only count as one so don't worry about being penalized for it!



Is partnering necessary? Will I get extra points or an auto-win by partnering up with someone?


Partnering is 10000% optional! It will not give you extra points towards the judges, and by no means will give you an auto win; which is why if you partner up, you should do the same amount of work as your partner! But this being said, if you're someone who doesn't like partnering up, do not fear! You're not forced to by any means and its solely a personal preference!



How are you judging?


My main focus of judging is the "about their favorite place". Alongside, personally, I judge a lot based on character development; ie, how fully developed your character is. And I'm not talking about like "bloodtype is 0-" stuff, but things that reveal how deep your character is; that is mostly what I judge on. It's a lot easier to fall in love with a form when the character has feeling to them, rather than some gary-mary sue who has no depth.
However, do note I will be bringing in guest judges out of species, so in respect to judging I will be minimizing bias as much as possible!



Can one person win both adopts?


This is most likely not going to change, but for now my thoughts are that it is unlikely, but possible with a very good form. Entering for both adopts doesn't lessen your chances for winning one, but if say I chose your form for the tri merle and someone has an equally good form for the sable then I will choose the equally good form because you already won one; but if your form is amazing in comparison to all other forms then I won't mind choosing someone to win both.



How do you view art?


Art is subjective, and I don't like comparing art styles to other people's art styles; so I judge art in respect to effort instead of skill. Digital, traditional, any medium is accepted; no art is "bad", but effort is more important to me. So you might have the best art in the world and it be done in ten minutes, and have a two year old with messy crayon drawings who spent five hours on it; the two year old would win here because they put in more effort than what they normally do.
(So your art is judged against yourself; I'll most likely browse around to see what your normal art is like for this).
And that being said personal art is more favorable than art done by someone else.



Do the adopts have to be related to one another, or have relationships with one another?


Nope, not at all! Your dog can have 0 contact with the others and I will judge it all the same; at some point I will link the info for my custom but he's not required either.
The prompt is purposefully vague, so if you want them to be siblings or cousins or friends or enemies or whatever you want, you can; I didn't want to limit anyone, so do whatever you please!

About their favorite place no limits on this ;; Golden's favorite place is any dog park, because she's such a playful dog and will get along great with other dogs including other humans! Other than that Golden loves to play with other dogs, she loves playing with her owner and if a dog park has a lake, pond, or any water she'll swim in it for days!

Story: It was Golden's first day, I just know she'll love being at the dog park! I mean she loves dogs, humans, playing with others, and fun I mean what more could a dog ask for than going to a dog park?! AFTER TWENTY MINUTES... We're here Golden! Are you ready to have heaps of fun? NOW GO HAVE FUUUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woah, what is this place? It's soo cool! HEY THERE'S OTHER DOGS! AAHHHH!!! plays with all the other dogs for 3 hours then runs around the place like a maniac and has so much fun she could barely comprehend it. AT HOME... When can I go there again?! IT WAS SOOO MUCH FUN!! falls asleep on the floor. Awww Golden, you had so much fun that you tired yourself out! Have a good night sleep! Carries her to her bed for her to sleep peacefully. Now I'm going to take a nap! Falls asleep on the floor and stays there.
