please listen to this while reading my form!
username ;; eli ayase
name ;; saturn. i chose this because her fur edits remind me of the rings on saturn
for some reason or another??
gender ;; female
how does she feel about the teeth ;; you see, saturn's gums aren't that much thicker than
any other kalons. it's hardly noticeable. sure, other kids have pointed it out, but it's not
like she's self conscious of her smile or anything. she's just a child. she doesn't have time
to worry about her mouth. she knows that she should be busy collecting flowers and spending
time looking at the magnificent stars.

How do they feel about their teeth?: In all honesty, Paisley loves her little tooth gaps! She finds them to be a unique aspect of her appearance, whether they make her weird or just plain goofy. She hasn't always adored her little champers, though. When she was first learning how to speak, Paisley found that her teeth often felt big and clunky in her mouth (due to the gaps), which made certain sounds and syllables nearly impossible to pronounce. It made her very insecure, knowing she sounded goofy and somewhat unintelligible. While she wouldn't be quick to call it a speech impediment, it was cause for concern that without some form of treatment, the problem would only grow worse. At a young age she visited a speech therapist, who, with many sessions, was able to correct her speech and allow Paisley to sound out words without so much struggle. While she can now speak fluently and nearly effortlessly (at the bright age of 13), her pearly whites still cause a slight lisp when pronouncing anything with a hard 's' sound. [173/300]
Story: "Now open wide, sweetie." The dentist hovered over her, shiny instruments in hand, face too close in proximity to her own. Paisley frowned and turned her head, not wanting to have anyone poking around in her mouth, especially when it hurt. "C'mon sweetheart, listen to the dentist. He just wants to help you." The girl turned to look at her mother, who was smiling and nodding encouragingly, telling her that this was alright, that she would be okay. "Say, ahhhh. There we go, now keep your mouth open, don't wanna get caught by those chompers now do I?" The dentist gave a hearty chuckle as he examined Paisley's teeth, and for a moment, she considered biting down, just for making such a snide comment. But with her mother standing only a few feet away, she wouldn't dare.
"Ah-ha. There's the problem, just as I suspected." The dentist shut off the blinding light and motioned for the mother to have a closer look. "You see that? Looks like little Paisley's got her first cavity." The Kal's eyes went wide in alarm, and she nearly jumped into her mothers' arms at the word. "A CAVITY?!" She shrieked, knowing exactly what that meant. It meant more time in this scary place, it meant being surrounding by the smell of sterilized instruments and the constant sound of whirring tools. "Momma, I wanna go home, I can fix it myself! I'll never eat candy again, not even on Halloween! Please momma, I--" But her mother was already shaking her head, and the girl sighed, defeated, tears welled up in her eyes. "The dentist is gonna make your tooth all better hun, and then you won't have a toothache anymore, okay? Ya gotta be brave, Paisley."
With that being said, the dentist exited the room, and soon returned with an assistant at his side. "Alright Paisley, open up, you're gonna feel a quick pinch, but--" Her heart nearly stopped at the size of the needle. She was so petrified, that she hardly knew how to react when she reluctantly opened her mouth and felt that odd pinch in her mouth. Tears began to spill over, she didn't like this. Her mouth was starting to feel numb, her cheeks chubby, and now when she went to speak, she felt like she was drooling all over the place. She looked to her mom, teary-eyed, pleading to leave, but her mother simply grabbed her hand to squeeze, and reiterated those words, "Be brave, Paisley."
The procedure itself was scary, and she kept her eyes shut tight the entire time. When they finally tapped her shoulder, and her mother said, "All done, sweetie," she could not have jumped out of that chair any faster. After that day, Paisley vowed to never get another cavity again; the experience was enough to keep her sugar-free until her teens, which is when she'd developed much better dental habits, and allowed herself to indulge every now and again. But to this day? She's cavity-free. [500/500]
