This Hound apparently had found two Somali cats, thinking they were foxes by mistake. Which is understandable as they are often called the fox cats. Anyways, the Somalis didn't take kindly to being cornered by the hound and the red one often hissed. Luckily the Fox Hound had gotten a home 2 days later but the Somalis need a new home.

Named for the Tengu spirit Kurama, known for its protective nature over Mount Kurama and its position as Sōjōbō, King of the Tengu.

Personality

    Surly & Short-tempered ||

    Kurama definitely isn’t the easiest cat to be around. As antisocial as they come, the large tom takes great pains not to fraternize with anyone but his nephew. He’s unpleasant with his caustic words and intimidating size, and rarely does he temper himself for people to get close to him. He’s mature enough to not bite and scratch humans, so it’s not uncommon to see him turn his back on you when he simply doesn’t want to be bothered — which is always. He comes off as aloof because of it. No affectionate purr-y kitty here.

    No one could say that he isn’t hot-blooded, though. While he knows how to pick his fights, he never shies away from one to prove a point. He’s generally too annoyed by everyone else to bully the other cats and dogs in his home, but his blows can send other pets reeling.

    He’s not all too patient, either. He only seems to even out his temper around his younger nephew, and without the small cat tempering out his uncle and showcasing his better sides, Kurama may have continued to be a stray.

    Protective & Devoted ||

    Kurama has a tendency to mainly look after himself, so there are very few things that he’s protective over. He doesn’t see the appeal in toys or trinkets, so he mostly keeps to himself on the outside of his home, patrolling like a silent, fiery guard. But, the few things that he is protective over, he protects with everything in him.

    His nephew bears the brunt of Kurama’s watchful eye, and the dedication that he exhibits for Atago’s well-being shows with Kurama’s every action. His territory comes second. The fact that he has to share a home with a pack of dogs doesn’t bother him too much (thankfully they know to leave him alone) but he considers them his in a way a cat considers everything in his territory to be his. He’s all around indifferent to dogs, but their larger size makes him wary more than anything else.

    Meticulous and Dependable||

    Kurama may not be nice, but the one thing he prides himself on above all else is his diligent nature. Whether it be how he calculates his next move, nurtures his bond with Atago, or keeps his fur coat as silky as he possibly can, nothing seems to escape his critical eye. He combs through his territory with a fine tooth to minimize the trouble that he has to deal with, and as such his dogs and cats (the ones in his territory at least) never seem to have a problem with strays around their home. The one time that Kurama had a situation with foxes and raccoons harassing the dog pack and threatening the other cats in his home saw the problem mysteriously resolve itself overnight. And everyone knew that Kurama dealt with them.

    Kurama tries not to socialize with the dogs that he shares a kennel with, but the inevitability leads them to have to make truces more often than not. And Kurama is always sure to stick to his word. The one thing that he isn’t is a liar. Ever so slowly, Kurama’s reliability allows for him to grow closer to the dog pack. Right now he only finds himself faintly amused by their antics (he could never understand why the loud, yappy individuals do what they do), but… maybe that will change.

Relationship with Atago

    Kurama is Atago’s uncle by blood. Before going to his first owner, he had a close bond with his brother and elder sister. The familial ties faded with time, but Kurama was fortunate enough to reunite with his sister in a chance encounter. In that meeting, she introduced him to her litter who was to leave her soon, products of a breeding program set to continue the Somali line. Kurama’s sister loved all of her kits, but Atago concerned her the most as the runt of her litter. When Kurama visited her, she asked him to look after Atago, and the fiery tom set out to uphold her promise. While their relationship was born out of obligation, Kurama soon came to love Atago like his own son. Kurama’s only wish is to see Atago flourish under his watchful eye, and to this day he watches over the younger tom. They get along well enough since their hierarchy was established early on, so Kurama acts as a dutiful mentor and word of wisdom to the young cat. Kurama is also surprisingly gentle towards Atago, especially since he can’t bear to raise a paw against the sweeter male.

About the Scars

    His previous owner was unfortunately neglectful despite his expensive pedigree, and with his feisty nature he got into a great deal of trouble outside of his home since his owner didn’t do much at first to monitor his actions when he was young. He quickly got into spats that littered his pelt with scars and got him his characteristic ear notch, and as such he’s now closed off and unconsciously distrustful of feral and strays, especially toms like the ones who targeted him as a kitten. The fact that he was essentially a stray himself before getting picked up by a shelter doesn’t sit too well with him.

Named for the Tengu spirit Atago, known for its protective nature over Mount Atago and its shrine. He is the Tarōbō of the Tengu spirits.

Personality

    Soft-spoken and Observant ||

    Atago’s not a cat who makes much of an impression at first. He’s affectionate no doubt, but his introverted nature keeps him from initially socializing with others besides his uncle, Kurama. It takes him a little bit to open up to other cats and dogs, but when he does, he’s quick to make friends with others due to his gentle nature. He’s not very vocal either, so he mainly expresses his emotions through his body language and his wide, curious eyes. Atago’s playful in his own quiet way, and his shyness only makes him that much more endearing. He’s able to break through his uncle’s rough nature with his easygoing persona as well.

    Atago’s also fairly observant. He prefers to study his world and take in the mannerisms of other creatures around him, and because of this he’s become empathetic as he ages. He likes to be conscious of other’s moods in order to remain tactful, as well as aid (or even avoid) a situation where he can.

    And, as much as his uncle monitors him, Atago monitors his uncle as well since Kurama’s well-being matters so much to him. He doesn’t mind that Kurama’s not the most friendly cat to everyone like he is to Atago, but he’s tried more than once to introduce new cats and dogs to his father in all but name. Atago knows that not much will come from the introductions, but hopefully their current home will make Kurama seem more approachable. Only time will tell.

Relationship with Kurama

    Atago is Kurama’s nephew by blood. The young cat has known no other parental figures besides Kurama. He was taken away from his mother at a young age due to the breeding program that would have quickly discarded a runt like him as he later discovered, but when Kurama took him under his wing, Atago quickly took to the older male. Atago clearly sees how scathing Kurama can be to other pets, but Atago adores how patient and loving the older male is with him. As a kit, he revelled in this special treatment and secretly wanted to keep his father, so to speak, all to himself, but as Atago grew out of his immaturity, he sought to become a mediator between Kurama and others around the two. Atago wishes to show others the joy that Kurama was able to bring into his life. It’s definitely a challenge, however- Atago frequently has to excuse others for his father’s aloofness, but Atago’s hopeful that Kurama’s natural tendency to protect and defend will warm him up to others. There are definitely times where they don’t get along, what with Kurama’s sharp attitude clashing with Atago’s own, but Atago aims to remain respectful to the virtuous tom. They aren’t even very far apart in age, but Atago still wishes to be a son to Kurama.

Username:
Spiritstar3
Name:
Jessabel (Sort of Variant of Jessica, since I have a dog named that already)
Gender:
Female
Collar:
Fading blue, purple, and g r a y, with a heart accessory and little bird charm.
Personality:
A usually sweet female, to her mate and the humans she finds she can actually trust, however where dogs are concerned...If they are as this Foxhound is, wanting to get too close and corner her, she becomes protective of Kasha, and even a little more hostile then might be needed. However, if the dog seems to have no interest, and ignores her, Jessa tends to ignore them right back, but might be caught sidling up closer to investigate the creature at a more peaceful seeming time.
Relationship w/ #238:
Jessa quite loves her mate. They met when they were a year old, actually, and didn't get along well at first. However, after about maybe six months, they began to realize they liked each other. When they were about a year and ten months, or maybe 2, Kasha asked Jessa to be her mate. Jessa gladly said yes, and so they became mates.

Jessa is always protecting Kasha, as Kasha is a bit smaller then her size wise. She is rather like a fox in that respect, growling and lashing out at any dog or other cat that may try to corner them (including Zydaco). However, for basically everything else, mostly the romantic side of things, she is submissive to Kasha, and slightly shy.

Name:
Kasha (Variant of Kashi, which comes from Inukashi, because 'Dog keeper' wouldn't work for this gal)
Gender:
Female
Collar:
Dark brown with a diamond shaped accessory hanging off.
Personality:
A generally more leadership quality female, when she is with her mate, and even tries to get the humans to do as she wants. However, if there are pushy or intrusive dogs, she tends to hide behind Jessa, because Jessa is bigger and seems more threatening then she. When Jessa ignores a dog, or is curious, Kasha tends to watch with interest or even join in the investigation. She also clearly takes control for the romantic side of things.
Relationship w/ #237:
Kasha is the mate of Jessa. They met when they were a year old, actually, and didn't get along well at first. However, after about maybe six months, they began to realize they liked each other. When they were about a year and ten months, or maybe 2, Kasha asked Jessa to be her mate. She was really happy when Jessa said yes, and they became mates.

Kasha, being a bit smaller then Jessa, is always protected by Jessa, from dogs that corner them (like Zydaco), or even other cats, if another tries to corner the two of them. She too, is much like a cat, growling fiercely from behind Jessa in these times. However, for most everything else, including the romance, Kasha is dominant towards Jessa.

The humans
-Inukashi (Kashi, or Inu)
-Jess (nickname) [Jessica]
~A pair of (possible Lesbians, figuring out Inu's gender later) lovers, for two lovely same gender mates~

Relationship w/ #238: Rowena is #238's adopted sister. She found #238 curled up as a kit beside her mother whom had been hit by a car. Having lost her own family not long before Rowena took pity on the kit and decided to take care of it. Rowena would do anything for #238 and wants to give them the life she never had.
