-Faelix are a species that are dedicated in large part to breeding for traits and coat patterns. They have thousands of possibilities and will have special mixed traits only obtainable through breeding! Character development is encouraged, but they're designed as a laid back species mostly for fun!

Faelix information;;
Faelix are a reptilian species, similar in visual appearance to a wolf. However- they are fully reptiles and most closely related to a basilisk. Like their chicken-serpent cousins, they are said to have the ability to turn others to stone but this has not been confirmed! A normal basilisk is born from a chicken egg incubated by a toad, but Faelix were rumored to have begun as a species when a wolf devoured a toxic toad and then gave birth to the first faelix before it perished- This individual would be the beginning of the kind. The species as a whole would evolve greatly over the years to the common 'modern' variety. They are native to the Russian tundras, but after humans realized they are primarily docile so long as they are fed, they became popular in shows and through selective breeding for their wide color and pelt varities.

They are primarily natural or dull colored, with colorful/vivid frills believed to be used to attract mates, but as fantastical beasts they may have any pelt color. They have large quill-like scales on their rumps that serve as a defense against attackers. When threatened, they will turn their backs to the threat like a porcupine and use the sharp ends of the armored points as a shield. Their long fangs are capable of injecting a dangerous poison as a last defense! But they prefer not to bite unless they mean to strike down prey or are totally cornered.

They are furred, a genetic anomaly allowing them to produce the necessary proteins to grow hair, but they are cold blooded and thus very much enjoy sunbathing. The fur likely developed as a defense against the cold of their homeland. The original species was extremely fluffy- covered in a thick layer of matted dark fur to absorb and store as much heat as possible. Selective breeding has made them more short furred in most places since such thick fur isn't as necessary for their survival. Because of their size they tend to be rather too lazy to put up a fight with most, and are content to lounge about and soak up warmth anywhere they can find it. They don't eat frequently, but when they do they prefer meats. They are omnivores, and can stomach greenery in a pinch, but it is not ideal. They're total suckers for human food.

They have a longer lifespan than their wolf counterparts and live around 60 years. Their fangs are continuously growing throughout their life. Its a good way to measure their age.They are pack creatures, and desire social interaction with others in order to stay happy. Whether this is with a human owner or with each other.

General rules;;
-Don't sell them! They're free! no trading either for the time being. Gifting is fine, just notify me.
-Only a species artist may breed them.
-They are closed species for breeding purposes, I need to be able to keep track of what is and isn't one. I will never attack you for having a similar character- theyre pretty generic! Just don't claim your character is one of these guys. Use common courtesy.
-Respect others!
-They may be minorly revamped with permission and approval from the artist.
-You do NOT need permission to add accessories. As long as they can be removed- they're fine.
-You may own as many as you like.
-I don't do customs unless through special offers/contests
-You may use them in any AU you please. Drawing them as human or anthro is fine. Adding hair (if they have none) for these forms is fine.
-They MAY be co-owned but I'm not responsible for conflicts between co-owners.

Traits/rarities;;
Powers, disabilities (blindness/deafness/missing limbs),Weight (skinny,chubby,average,ect)
DO NOT count as traits or towards rarity. They may be added or removed at the discretion of the owner in order to suit their character, they are not counted in breeding/will not effect any children of the character.

Common traits-
Horns(any horn style), different tongue shapes, any pelt/fin color, any eye color, any sclera color, extra hair on the head (human hair), tufts on the ears, Different amounts of scales on the backside (less, more)

Uncommon traits-
Different frill shapes, ear edits, shorter fangs, longer claws, longer or shorter tail (MUST STILL HAVE FRILLS), sprouting feathers, wrist/ankle fur, different shaped scales on the backside, scales in other places

Rare traits-
Different tail shapes, glowing features

MUTATIONS-Only obtainable through breedings/rare combinations that are yet to be discovered!
