What do they do at night?: She explores, you can say that she has a big nightlife. In he mornings all she does to work with a straight face and take naps but once it's night time she opens up to her surroundings. You might think that she would be going to different places in the city but in reality she is going to different spots in nature. Rather it be the beach, a forest, a valley, a mountain, a field, or a river side. {WIP}

She is of the curious sort.
Works three jobs six days a week,
Dreading punching in.
When alone she sleeps,
In company she talks too much.
Stories of gold,
Which will never be written on paper.
But she is bored.
She is starved of the good stuff
Cafeteria food never really did it for her.
So during the night she does as best she can,
As best as she knows how.
She bakes.
And it seems
The texture of the bread
And the moistness of the muffins
And the icing on the cupcakes
Are all just right.
Strong gentle flavors
That tickle the tongue,
But it is food only made at night
Because only then
In the crowded city,
Isolated,
Does the temperature seem just right.▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪

What do they do at night? I am awake. The night is here. I rise, a little unsteadily, to my feet. I can't remember the last time I did this. I... I don't want to remember the last time I did this. Feeling myself gain strength with every passing second, I pad over to the sliding screen door and slip outside, my hair falling out of its bun and obscuring my eyes. No matter, I don't need eyes to see. I hear the nocturnal creatures' chattering fall away as I emerge and they sense that I am... Not quite right. Good. I don't want any collateral damage tonight. I lean forwards slightly and break into a gentle trot out of the back garden, revelling in the feeling of the cold grass brushing against my paws. I don't need to think until I get out into the woods, so I tip my head back slightly and just watch the moon and all the glittering stars hanging in the obsidian sky, almost mocking in their ease of existence. A small 'snap' a couple of metres in front of me and to the right jolts my attention back to earth, and I freeze in my tracks.
"Hello?" I call uncertainly; there shouldn't be anyone else on this path tonight, "Is anyone there?"
No response, save for the slightly crazed mutterings of a nearby squirrel. I hope for the best, and continue, this time keeping my eyes fixed on the path in front of me as I run. It shouldn't matter anyway; I have almost reached the edge of the woods where I am headed, and once I'm far enough into the trees and brambles I won't be able to find my way out fast enough to cause anyone any real harm.
And hopefully no one will be able to get in to me, either.
Consciousness/ Eyes snap open/ Forest smells, forest sounds/ No little creatures though/ Apart from- there/ A voice/ Small, indistinct/ But I can track it/ I can track anything/ Following/ Following/ Light/ In the corner of my eye/ I won't look up/ I know it's just Moon/ Watching/ Always watching/ But I won't watch back/ I am tracking/ No distractions now/ No/ Distractions/ Now/ Found you, Little Voice/ Little Meat/ Wait/ What's this/ Another, followed like a fool/ Well then/ Big Meat it is/ Hush now/ Quiet, Moon/ Silence your watching/ Now is a time for quiet/ For seeing, not just looking/ For hunting, not just stalking/ Aha/ We see you, Big Meat/ Moon and I/ We follow you/ We/ hunt/ you///

What do they do at night? At night, Sterling sits by the edge of a large cliff, staring down at the reflection of the stars on the ocean in front of him. Always getting excited if in the distance a whale spouts water, jumping about, disturbing the fireflies and sleeping animals, until he himself falls asleep to the sound of calming waves and the rustle of leaves in the trees reacting to wind.

What do they do at night?: I was just a child when I first saw a firefly.
It was an amazing creature, simple in all it's beauty.
And then I saw it's brothers.
The night rose in a beautiful sunrise at midnight, with dozens of fireflies taking flight, bold against a silent, cloudless sky.
It was so amazing, I forgot about my parents.
I started to dance, silly child I was. I tumbled and I tripped, falling in flowers and rolling down the hill.
I laughed for the first time in a long time.
I didn't even hear my grandmother calling for my return, my head was so caught up in fantasies of being the king of these beautiful creatures.
The next day, I even made myself a crown.
The fireflies made my pain all the more bearable, and when I was around them I could hardly form complete thoughts as my mind was so wandering, eyes following sparks of light.
The hillside air did something to me, I believe. It's really healing, and it fixes all wounds, even the one not even bandages sewed up.
I spent every night laying in the tall grass, whispering and singing, unafraid of the dark like I previously was, not hearing the ringing in my ears.
I did everything I could to protect those creatures. They were... They were everything. Carriers of dreams and bringers of hope and light.
I researched them. I themed my room after the bugs. I wrote songs and I sang them to the night sky. I thought of nothing but billions of flying stars in a cloudy sky, night after night, week after week, year after year.
I still go out there, sometimes. It's a bit more lonely, being grown up and with more things tugging at my mind, not having my grandfather come out and tickle me randomly when it was bedtime.
I still have a corner in the yard that I keep, as to not disturb their home.
It's soothing, more so than my bi-weekly tea, or calm music on a peaceful summer's noon.
It's my home.
It's my kingdom, and I am their king.
