- Story about Past / History:
- Persephone was born to the Great King Mitus and to Andromeda. When she was born, she was not greeted with the luxury of a newborn princess. In fact, she was greeted into the world a common viscet, living with her lone mother in the kingdom village. You might be wondering why she wasn't born in the castle her father resided in, and the simple answer to that is that he simply did not know she existed as his love for Andromeda was forced to be flamed out when they were younger by Mitus' parents, due to Andromeda not being of royal blood.
Andromeda raised Persephone to be humble, and to be kind above anything else. It was almost as if she were raising Persephone to be the picture perfect princess. Persephone always knew about her father, but refrained from talking to anyone about it, for the simple fact of wanting to avoid causing others to treat her as royalty over a common viscet, which Persephone was not born with her wings. They were there, just not quite yet visible. Yet, others still whispered about the possibility of Persephone being the first child of King Mitus. For years Persephone and her mother lived a simple, humble life, being known as the village sweethearts that couldn't harm a fly. It was a simple life that Persephone enjoyed, along with the freedom to roam into the forest whenever she pleased. It was a commoner's life and she was perfectly content with the lifestyle.
When Persephone hit her mid-teenage years, hers and her mother's happy, simplistic life made a dramatic turn when Andromeda fell very ill. It crushed Persephone, yet she kept her head up, and tried to remain strong...remain the same as she was before. It was very difficult for Persephone to not crack under the pressure and sob for hours on end. Her mother's upcoming death would surely had made Persephone bitter, and slowly, but surely it was starting to, at least until one night her mother called to her.
- "Yes, mother?" Persephone called as she scurried to her mother's room. The sight of her now frail, sickly mother caused tears to threaten to spill over, but blinked them away. "My dear Persephone, come here, child. I must ask one thing of you." Her mother managed to say in a voice that was broken, and weak, yet still as sweet as honey. "Persephone, you mustn't let this turn you bitter. I ask you to keep your sweet, humble nature, and to never let this event turn you into something you're not. You understand, dear? You must promise me this." Persephone listened to her mother's words closely, and nodded, unable to stop the tears from spilling over and down her cheeks. "I promise, momma. I promise." Persephone whispered to her mother.
The funeral that was held for her mother was gorgeous, and held by everyone in the village. Everyone had gone up to Persephone and shown her condolences, telling her how brave she was , but also questioning where she was going to live. Before she could answer that question, a tall, handsome viscet strolled into the funeral. He was tall and radiated authority. Once others had begin to notice him, they began to bow before the tall viscet. This wasn't any ordinary viscet. No, this was King Mitus. Even though his demeanor was strong, his eyes were full of saddness. If you looked into the King's eyes you would see the love that the two shared, as well as the hurt at his first love was now gone. At least, until his eyes had locked on Persephone and narrowed, before he weaved his way towards Persephone.
- "Who are you?" The King asked. "My name is Persephone. Andromeda was my mother...and she told me you were my father."
