Sweet, gentle Poetry has fine, graceful movements, giving her the appearance of a delicate ballet dancer, but her favorite pastime is actually sleeping. She lies in her stall much later than all the other horses, and sometimes it takes both Thomas and I to wake her up. Once we get her out of her stall for her daily exercise, though graceful as always, she walks, trots, and canters around the paddock like a sleepwalker. By afternoon, Poetry has woken up sufficiently to demonstrate her full potential. She can even become quite lively. But by evening, she starts slowing down again, hanging her head and dragging her feet. We know not to make her work beyond 6 o'clock. She's asleep even before we get her into her stall, where she collapses into the hay, snoring contentedly and peacefully. Though I got her show name from the iconic song in the musical Les Miserables, Poetry could probably care less if the sun never rose.

While Renee was never wild, she acts like it. The mare's always distracted, always seeming to yearn for something more. She's a perfectly friendly girl, she's got nice ground manners and is a pleasure to ride. She rarely feels connected to her rider, however. Renee's deeply unhappy in a small paddock, she only thrives where there's room to move about and run. Trail rides seem to be this beautiful girl's favorite thing, she loves to explore new places. Recently, someone tried liberty work with her, and the cremello dun took right to that. She loves the games, the challenge of staying connected to her human partner. Around other horses, Renee's once again kind but distant. She's never on the bottom of the pecking order, but never the top either. Most other horses seem to ignore her for the most part.
She's made friends, however, with the actual mustang Alaire, and the two seem to wish for the wild together.

Personality: Shea is a picture perfect horse who is a total girly-girl. She is not food crazy and pushy like most other mares, but rather interested in going on adventures(aka trail rides). Her absolute favorite activity is going to the beach, where she can gallop across the sand and feel the ocean breeze in her face. Shea has anxiety problems when away from other horses, so must be kept with at least one other companion. She is never overweight and is an extremely slow eater, but she drinks twice as much water as other horses might normally. She adores wearing fancy new blankets during the winter, matching tack while being ridden, and most of all getting her hair braided! She often spends her time in the pasture riling up the other horses by galloping, rearing, and sometimes even faking a spook to get all the attention on herself. Very smart!

There are horses who can be trusted to always go as slow as possible and who will gladly take care of beginner riders by just walking along. Guinevere is not one of them. She is a highly receptive horse who will easily take up connection if the rider is clear in giving his signals and it's not that Guinevere isn't cooperative; she is eager to please and really enjoys working with her rider; but somewhere behind her charming little face Guinevere harnesses a wild amount of energy and a dramatic desire to run. She enjoys nothing more than breaking into full gallop and has a considerable need to be moved regularly. She will turn capricious if she feels like her energy has been building up for the too long. Around other horses Guinevere is generally quite pleasant, she is fine with not being the center of attention at all times and takes no claim to being the leading mare in a herd, she does occasionally get into fights for annoying other horses by desperately wanting to play or race. Quite similar to the mythological queen Guinevere got her name from, she is a character with a high energy level that will start doing silly things if bored.
