Rescued from the event.
Background: "This stallion was once a great competitor, but broke his leg during the most important competition of his career. His owners poured money into his recovery, but when they learned he couldn't continue is competition career they attempted to use him as a breeder, but proved unable to meet their quota. That fact along with the knowledge that he would require weekly therapy to keep his repaired leg in good shape, they called their losses, replaced him with one of his young sons and threw the poor boy to the auction; left to a likely fate of becoming meat. We saw the loneliness in his eyes and knew he just needed someone who wouldn't give up on him like his previous owners had. He seems a little hesitant of human interaction, but with a little love he can be the best companion anyone could ask for."

Show name: L'espoir est renouvelé
Barn name: Hope
Halter color: Rainbow
Task 1: First things first this horse needed to know that humans could be trusted. I walked over to the beautiful stallion and he snorted as I got close a wild look in his eyes. I reached my hand out and he hesitantly sniffed it breathing heavily. You could tell that at any second he was ready to run the other way. I wasn't going to push him as that would only make me him despise me. I brought a chair into the arena gently sitting down on it and began reading a book. The high strung stallion stayed on the other side of the arena for awhile. Until his curiosity got the best of him. He took four careful steps ears pricked on high alert but interested. Finally after about a half hour he came over and plopped his nose into my book. I gently laid my hand on him and he drew back ever so slightly but lowered his head back down. I softly petted his nose and worked my way up to his face. He was a sweet stallion just scared. He needed Hope and that's what his new name would be.
Task 2: As the days went on he began to trust me more and more. That proud moment when I first slipped on that halter seemed like the best day of my life. I started icing his leg everyday and put the back on track wraps on it along with going to therapy. He seemed to be doing better and didn't have any pain in that leg. Water therapy was his favorite as the cold water seemed to soothe him.
Task 3: Life was pretty good for hope. His leg was taken good care of he had green pastures to graze in and a beautiful stall to sleep in. His care was always of utmost concern. Once I thought he was doing well enough I bred him to a few mares and he produced the most beautiful foals. They had the best temperaments and most came out with his stunning coloring. I even raised up one of his foals to be my personal riding horse.
(I believe that's what I was supposed to do cx never done one of these before)
