Every day when I wake up, there is this sort of excitement that comes over me. It fills me up, makes me happy to be living for another day. I don’t think people realise how lucky we are, to live on a planet like earth. Yes, it has it’s flaws, but everything does in life. People need to be more positive and look on the bright side, we have so many wonderful things to be thankful for: watching early morning sunrises from our window, mug of tea in hand, going for a walk in the misty forest, just you and nature, and being all snuggled up in a blanket in front of the fire during the worst winter storm, with a good book and a mug of hot cocoa.

I’m just fed up with seeing the way that people treat the world, take it for granted, and always see the negative in every little thing. Admittedly, I was once also like that, but by just taking a little time to realise what a wondrous place that earth is, how it deserves to be respected and treated with care, and how much and how many opportunities it has to offer, it can really make you appreciate life so much more and to feel much more fulfilled. I can definitely say that adjusting my mindset has made me a much happier and far more optimistic person than I once was.

One of my favourite activities in particular is going for an evening walk up to the top of the hill and just letting my hair down, closing my eyes and letting the wind blow around me, blowing my hair in all directions and into all sorts of weird and wonderful hairstyles. Admittedly, it’s a little childish, and it’s a real pain to brush out afterwards, but it’s the one place that I feel completely and entirely free, able to let go of everything and just live.

Anyway, I just felt the need to get that off my chest. My life has been filled with negativity lately, both from people themselves and their actions, and I needed to remind myself of all the positivity in my life and how lucky I am to be who I am and to live where I live. The world is a wonderful place, I am so happy and proud to call it my home.

When we're young, we are often asked what we want to be when we grow up.

But how can we know?

Children have no idea what is out there, no exposure to anything but their own individual worlds. You're supposed to say that you want to be a firefighter, or a doctor, or an astronaut, so that your parents can be proud of what a brave, loving, helpful kit they've raised. But the reality of it is, there are so many hundreds of thousands of things a child can grow up to be, and we're expected to choose just one of these things before we've even experienced all the world has to offer. How crazy is that?

For example, when I was young, I had a new interest almost every week. I remember wanting to be a dentist once, during the time when my baby teeth were falling out. But then I realized no one likes going to the dentist. After getting my first haircut, I was sure I wanted to be a hairdresser. But I'd only be able to cut hair how the customer wanted, and that wouldn't be fun. When I was in school, I thought I wanted to be a teacher. But I'd have to deal with all the kits misbehaving. I'd really rather just take a nap.

Even now I find that I can't decide. I have worked odd jobs here and there, but never found anything that stuck. There are plenty of alluring careers-- pilot, master chef, fashion designer, police officer, zookeeper-- but none of them speak to me. At least not for very long. I have sampled so many different lifestyles and jobs, but it seems that once I get my fill, I lose interest and move on to the next thing. Sometimes, I even get a strong sense of deja-vu when I try out a new job. So many of them seem so familiar... like I've worked them for years.

But I'm barely even grown, I couldn't have worked any job for years, even if I'd somehow lost my memory.

Could I have?
