PERSONALITY::

Even in the dark and winding forests of the kingdom of Fiadh, Maelynn enjoys being bright and optimistic with her outlook on the world. She tries to bring a little sunshine into the lives of everyone around her, and she does her best to chase away any negative thoughts they may have about themselves. She's bouncy, almost always full of energy, and very joyful in general, but her good mood can sometimes end up making others who feel down in their lives feel trivialized by her efforts to cheer them up.

Maelynn's more of a doer and a talker rather than a listener, and sometimes what others need is a listener. She tries to let them speak for themselves and to take a step back and listen, but often times she ends up talking over them and making them feel worse. She tries to stop herself when she realizes she's doing it, but it's one of her shortcomings and needs improvement, and she acknowledges that.

The main reason she tries to be always upbeat and cheerful is because she knows how important someone like that in someone's life can be. It can be the difference between spiraling into worse thoughts and beginning to improve your self confidence. She had someone in her life like that, and she wants to be that someone for others too. She genuinely enjoys helping others just to see them smile and to know she brightened someone's day.

But another, smaller reason is that helping others shifts the focus off herself. She gets to forget her own problems in light of helping someone else with theirs. Whenever she's feeling overwhelmed and stressed in her own life, she's able to put that stuff away in order to help someone else be it a friend, family, or a stranger. In a way, helping others is a sort of coping tool she uses, but that doesn't mean she doesn't genuinely enjoy making others smile. It's just a nice bonus that in helping someone else, she gets to forget about her own issues for a while.

Though it doesn't happen too very often, when Maelynn gets angry or frustrated, she turns that spiteful energy into something productive. There's been a few times where she's very angrily tilled the ground in her backyard to expand her garden. The act of tilling the ground provides a healthy way to vent those emotions and once she's cooled off a bit, she uses the motivation to continue the garden by planting seeds. Because of this, her garden is like it's own little biome, there are beautiful colorful trees and flowers of all different colors. The garden also serves another purpose too, whenever she's upset or sad, she sits with a collection of clippings from her garden and weaves them into jewelry. The repetitive act gives her time to think through what she's feeling.

She prides herself on having healthy ways to deal with her emotions, even if she still has a lot to improve on when it comes to trying to help others do the same. She needs to remember what works for her won't work for everyone. But all in all, she tries her best and wants to live life with no regrets and that is what fuels her to do all this.

PLANS FOR HER:: Love her a ton and incorporate her into my plume Edel's story and give her her own story to shine in within the world I've built for my two plumerians. I'd also like to keep the mate relationship if .sans also wants to.
I want to give her a caretaker role, and eventually for her to be Edel's advisor as he ascends to the throne.

BACKGROUND::
Maelynn was born in Fiadh, a secluded kingdom in a forest that teems with wisps just as much as any other creature. The forest that surrounds the kingdom is made of dark and twisted trees, a foreboding sight to any seeking to make their way to Fiadh. Perhaps because of how secluded the capital is, the people of Fiadh are in general judgmental of outsiders. Despite this though, Maelynn was raised by a loving family that taught her tolerance, patience, and to keep an open mind when meeting others.

Throughout her life, she made it a personal mission to try to get everyone she met to smile and to leave them happier than when she met them. Even as a child, she was always bouncing up to new plumerians and chatting their ears off, asking them all sorts of questions about who they were, what they liked to do for fun, what their favorite color was, anything and everything she could think of all to make a new friend. She loved walking around the city and window shopping (especially when it came to the candy stores), and though she wouldn't usually buy things for herself on a whim, she has quite the history of impulse buying in the name of a friend.

It wasn't until she grew into her teenage years that life slowly began to seem more dull. Though it was gradual enough that she didn't really notice, her parents noticed rather quickly when something was obviously wrong. Maelynn no longer felt like going out as much as she did before, if she even went out on walks at all. She became more introverted, not talking as much and becoming quieter when she did, like she didn't have much she wanted to say. Both her temper and her patience seemed to grow drastically shorter and things that wouldn't normally bother her, seemed to scrape on her very last nerve.

This was when her mother took her aside one day, encouraging her to walk with her into the forest for a while like they used to. It took a bit of convincing, which it never really did before. It was away from the city and with only the two of them around when her mother sat her down and asked her plainly what was wrong, and if she even realized something was wrong in the first place. It was a hard conversation that they had, but one that Maelynn had desperately needed. She had just attributed any changes in her attitude as just growing up and becoming a little more disillusioned with the world. But by the end of the conversation, she was accepting tips form her mom on how to get that energy back, on how to be herself again.

It was that moment that she began gardening, and redoubled her efforts into getting out and being her old self again, and rediscovering who she really was. She developed her own ways of safely venting her emotions when she needed to, and she lives happily on her own with her backyard garden full of mix-matched flowers and trees and bushes all carefully tended to. She tries to be like her mother for other people, tries to be that person that others can talk to when they need to, to offer help when they need it. This can make her seem pushy but, it truly comes from a good place, because she was there and wants to be the one to be able to help others.

RELATIONSHIPS::
EDEL - Though Edel is the adopted prince of Fiadh, he's one of Maelynn's close friends and she really cherishes him as such. Edel doesn't have very many friends, and at times she wonders if he has any other friends than her. The town almost outright despises Edel for being an outsider as well as being adopted by the Sonne and Mond (the official titles for the king and queen respectively). It was because of her mother's teachings about being open and kind that Maelynn purposefully went against the opinion of the city and tried to befriend Edel to get to know him.

Though his official title for being the prince is Stern, Maelynn knows he's anything but. He tries to pull off being aloof and uncaring, but she has spent years getting to know him for who he is, and the toll of being prince and hated by his own people is immense on his shoulders. She does what she can to help her friend, but she feels as if there is still a wall between them. She can't really blame him though, not with how the rest of the town treats him either to his face or behind his back.

Dusty Rose does not have one personality.... anymore. A hidden parasite that takes on the look of vines and flowers has control of Dusty Rose. She frequently spaces out and starts slurring as the parasite moves or trys to take control. The small breed of parasites has spread as much as it possibly can, so much that it can't infect others and is bound to only Dusty Rose. It isn't a very powerful parasite but would be extremely dangerous to even attempt at removing parts of it. The parasite chooses when it wants to take control, which means it can control both speech and movements for small periods of time. The parasite's goal is to survive and thrive, so it leads its host to what it thinks is food, but it isn't very smart. Dusty Rose has come out of the "fits" (which are not very often) and realize she has tried to eat things like dead leaves, sticks, rocks, and trash.
Few parasites of the species carry on distinct traits. Dusty Rose's isn't one of those few. When she is in her "fits" she has no personality, going along with everything heard; always the mission is food. When she is not in one of her fits her personality is always changing. She might be sweet and helpful in the morning, but greedy and selfish at night. She may be loving and goofy but mean and harsh all at once. She really doesn't know who she is and is unsure if she ever knew who she was.

Those who knew Rose early on would say she was the sweetest plume you could ever meet, one gentle to the touch who would never hurt a living creature.

what do you plan on doing w/ her?: Dusty Rose "Sarora" is definitely a dream Plumerian of mine. She would be developed along with my other characters, frequently being drawn in my sketch-book and learning/growing as I do. I promise she would have a great home with me and she would not be ignored. I currently don't have any Plumerians, as I have only fully connected to one readopts other than this one. I first saw Plumerians way back when I was still a newbie. I saw some mods around adopting/trying out for/making them, and being stupid I stayed away thinking they were only for the higher powered and more knowledgable users. I don't know why I thought that but I regret admiring them from a distance and never getting one of my own. I was actually in tears when they were announced as closed. I intend to engage in the community when possible and order art for Dusty Rose. Dusty Rose will grow as a charcter, and through stories she will slowly learn to take control and eventually may figure out who she really is- it all depends on when and where my story plan goes off track and gets a new route.
