my choice of gender for this character would be male to female transexual whilst their name would be cecily, which she chose to name herself after the famous cecily cardew of oscar wilde's "the importance of being earnest".

an adjective that would be opposite to cecily's personality would be timid, as the kalon is not afraid of people at all - in fact, she loves people and has an abundance of courage when it comes to talking to others. it is a gift, some might say.

cecily would bring;

• a camera or camcorder, as she would want to either record or capture her moments on the island to show others when she got back, which she would be certain that she would get back,
  
• a lighter, as she is very crafty and would fund multiple uses for it, such as a campfire to keep warm and boil salt water from the ocean to get distilled water, and cook raw meat and fruits in order to eat,
  
• and a notebook and pen in order to record her travels, findings and important notes to aid in her survival.

the most important person in cecily's life is augie, cecily's role model. augie is a reporter - one that isn't afraid to ask and uncover things that most reporters don't. since cecily has little respect for her parents due to their, well, quirkiness and overall child-like qualities, augie is much like a father figure for her. she has never actually met the kalon, but she plans to when she becomes a reporter herself, hopefully following augie's footsteps.

cecily has a habit of dipping her bread and garlic bread crusts into pepsi or coke before she eats them. she likes to soak them a little in the drink before popping them in her mouth, savouring the taste. needless to say, when she goes out, she gets plenty of weird looks at diners, restaurants and cafés.

What would this character describe their perfect day as?

cecily's perfect day would entail;

• waking up at 4:30 am on the dot, with or without an alarm clock, and ready herself quickly before heading down to the beach to take quick snapshots of the sunrise, especially if it's overcast.
• after getting aesthetic pictures to post on her blog, cecily would do some people watching at the beach, doing small writing exercises in her notebook (that she carries everywhere) and maybe talking to some surfers, as they seem to be the only ones up at that hour.
• once satisfied with the early morning's products, ceviky would pack up her nikon camera and notebook in her favoured rucksack and head over to a local café by the water's edge - the one she's a regular at - and try a new brew of tea or coffee; though she loves her mocha with three sugars and a dash of caramel syrup, cecily also likes to try new things, especially at this café which she claims has the best coffee she's ever had.
• once her tastebuds are alive with the flavour of sweetened coffee, cecily would head over to the contemporary art museum (and because it will be well after 10 pm by now, she would want to get out of the start of the lunch rush hour) where she takes quick snaps of sculptures and art pieces to inspire her on her next photography club project.
• speaking of photography club, as it would be now 1 pm, cecily would head over to her club's meeting place; a run-down beach shack overrun with vines peeling paint. she would excitedly explain to her peers her new project - a series of photographs about pink objects.
  'I think pink isn't feminine at all," she would argue, huffing in annoyance. "pink is a watered-down red; hiding the sinister colour in what would be a delicate glamour, and I strive to show that through my photos."
• after having heated (and entertaining) conversations, the kalon would say goodbye to all her fellow club members and head home, which isn't too far away from the club. as soon as she gets home, she would jump in the shower, clean off the day's grime, and pop on some pj's to snuggle into bed with, holding close her dearest teddy bear- 'mr button' - and watch re-runs' of augie's reports until she fell asleep.

cecily loves all animals, and dogs are no exception. to cecily, dogs fall just under guinea pigs but just above cats in her book of favourite animals. though she may not be able to have a pet dog, every time the kalon goes past the adoption center near her house, her eyes fill with teary sympathy for the poor dogs in that position, and would give everything just to save a couple. not only would they be great companions to stave off her lonliness, they would also be brilliant models for her to either practice her interrogation reporter skills, or even for her photography.

How likely is this character go out of their way for others?

cecily, depending on who it was and what the request is, would certainly go out of her way for them. she wouldn't throw herself under a bus for them, of course, but she would definitely try to make them as happy as possible.
however, if it were anyone else except for her family, friends and acquaintances, cecily wouldn't even give them a second glance; her circle is tight-knit, and she prefers to only make those happy who she knows deserves it.

the young girl is on the fence about her entire family. she loves her brothers and sisters dearly, but when it comes to her parents, she's a bit iffy on them.
don’t get her wrong; she absolutely loves them both to the end of the earth, she just sees herself as a bit too mature for their antics, especially considering her sister’s given name; mayonnaise.
due to her dwindling respect for her parents’ choices, cecily has decided to move out into her own small apartment - one near the beach. she always invites her intermediate family over, but other than that, she doesn't try to go out of her way to make meeting arrangements.

If they had one wish, what would it be?

cecily, if she had one wish, would want to wish for her reporting career to take off. it may seem selfish, but in theory, cecily thinks that it really isn't; majority of her money she would get from her job would go towards her parents and split evenly between her siblings. she would then save the rest in an untouchable account until she's around late twenties so that she would be able to buy herself a car, a house and support her family on the side.

cecily’s greatest source of joy would be her photography hobby; it calms her and readies her to view the world in a more perplex, creative way when writing scripts and discussing opinions with other people.
her greatest source of frustration would be the immaturity of the world around her. the fact that cecily views herself as so mature really sets her apart from the population her age, which are rather immature. she believes that she would be sick of those her age far too quickly due to their 'simple minds and stupid ideas'

cecily, being the poor lactose intolerant kalon she is, would much prefer apple juice over both milk and water. she has a sweet tooth, certainly, and water just doesn't cut it for her. of course, she cannot have milk or flavoured milk due to her dire intolerance (she fears throwing up due to an incident when she was younger), and she despises cordial and flavoured water, so juice is the only other viable option for her. she prefers orange juice over apple juice, though.

cecily believes that her inquiring nature is her best trait. she is open to everything, ready to listen to anything, and generally thirsts for knowledge. she has a bit of a complex with this, though; her inquisitive nature often makes her say things she shouldn't, do things she shouldn't and see things that she hoped to have never witnessed second-hand, let alone first hand. though, she prides herself on this trait of hers, due to the fact that she isn't afraid to ask, state and witness things that others would shy away from. it also increases her understanding and openness to people who have extreme and siffering ideals and morals.
however, if cecily were to look into her worst trait, she would probably begrudgingly state that her vainity would be her worst trait. really, seeing as though cecily didn't even want to think about her worst trait kinda shows that, no?
cecily's vanity is moreso centred around her 'bursting levels of maturity' and 'spectacular creativity', not just her appearance. really, in all actual fact, cecily could care less about her outward to others. she just likes to feel superior.

in all honesty, cecily wouldn't change a thing; sure, her parents are weird, she lacks a lot of connection with her siblings and she's practically a loner, cecily finds comfort in her lone days. she meets enough people each day to fulfill her social needs, she still loves and cares for her family, and her part-time job down at a local grocery store gives her enough money to make it through the week, on top of the savingd she had put aside when she was younger. sure, cecily isn't updated with the 'latest tech', but she wouldn't want to be. she believes that technology 'will bring an end to humanity, I tell you.' that, and she would be too prideful to ask for help from anyone.
in reality, cecily has it pretty good for kals her age, and she knows this. sure, her vain façade fools everyone into thinking that she wishes everyone were up to her standards, but that's far from the case; cecily doesn't have standards, except when it comes to art and reporting. she's happy the way she is; just how she was brought up to be.

if it were up to cecily, she would change the world in many ways; give others the gift of creativity and actually seeing art, not just looking at it, give the population the gift of maturity, so much so that there would be common sense used anywhere and everywhere, and don't forget about cleaning up the planet!
though, cecily does realise that all of the imperfections of others just brighten their perfections (she can speak of this first hand), and thus, she would probably change the world so that humans, kalons and all in-between would clean up and take care of the earth. if there is one thing that gets the young kalon down, it would be the amount of pollution on earth. sure, cecily is no advocate for the 'greenies', or likes to be part of those 'save earth, make peace' marches, but she does care thoroughly about the flora, fauna and water on earth. to her, the planet is a living, breathing thing that really isn't all that different to any living organism living on it; 'we are like parasites, living off the bountiful gifts that the earth gives to us, and yet we do not give anything back but pain and suffering.' she would state, huffing as she picked up another piece of plastic from the sandy beach. though, it's not just about giving back to the earth, cecily just revels in the beautiful aesthetic that earth provides her with that she wishes she could capture and show to all. without the earth, cecily believes there would be no beauty.
