Prompt 1: How do your Kalons spend the Holidays?
The Mail Order Husband and the stress of the Holidays
- Jaecar watched helplessly as the Kalon who called himself Basma held Rowen in a tight grip lifting them high above his head. Rowen reached up as far as they possibly could their little hands tight around their Christmas star. With some shuffling and a happy squeak the tree's topper had successfully been added to the top of their tree. Basma had only been around for a couple of months and Jaecar still didn't trust him at times. His dislike was probably shown on his face because the smile Basma held for Rowen quickly lurched into a frown as he met Jaecar's eyes. Flicking his eyes to his child then back to Basma seemed to be enough of a hint that he wanted his kid back on the floor. Basma placed them down lightly then attempted to make himself small taking his place in a lounge chair farthest away from Jaecar. The silence between them was uncomfortable at best but their strange commitment to each other streamed from the care they both held for Jaecar's kids. Basma had been caught up in an aweful revenge prank that someone had pulled on Jaecar. Rowen had opened the door months ago greeting Basma with a smile and asking him if he was looking for his dad. Jaecar had somewhat frantically chased down Rowen gruffly scolding him for opening their door to strangers. After a quick explanation of why he was there Jaecar had informed Basma that who ever he had been in contact with was in fact not Jaecar. He felt bad for him but didn't consider anything besides the point until Rowen was there taking Basma inside by his hand. They seemed to have connected instantly and Jaecar let him stay for the sake of the kids. He tilted his head thinking about it was tiring. Jaecar leaned forward pulling Rowen into a tight hug and melting into his happy innocent nature. They didn't do much else besides layout cookies before Jaecar tucked Rowen sleepily into their bed.
