Koi;; A symbol of strength and courage. The koi can represent rebirth.

Legend once said there lived a family whom where blessed with shine painted by the gods. Each member had a beautifully intricate design that attracted kalons far and wide, making them famous among their peers. Among them was a boy whom was born with no shine, and although he was loved by his family he felt as if he didn't belong.

When that boy became a man he left on a journey to find his proper place in the world, a place where he wouldn’t feel so different. Searching far and wide, he found himself mountain bound when he came across a young woman who was heavily pregnant. She explained to him that her husband had recently died and that she was trying to return to her family on the mountain. The man offered to escort her and she gladly accepted, and from there on the two became traveling companions.

As they neared her village they stumbled upon an icy river, supposedly frozen solid by the winter chill. They decided to cross the river but found themselves trapped in the middle when the ice began to break under their feet. In desperation, the man grabbed hold on the woman’s hands and swung her towards to the other side of the river. She was able to safely slide into the snowbank, but the force it had taken to move her caused the ice to give way under the mans feet. The woman called to the man in desperation, but he never emerged from the frigid waters.

After waiting by the river's edge for hours, the woman made the decision to go on without him. A few days after reaching her village she gave birth to a boy who looked shockingly like the man who had helped her. There where some differences however, as the child was wrapped in delicate koi markings and his tail had a beautiful koi shine that looked almost as if it had been painted by the gods. Kalons traveled far and wide to see the boy with the beautiful shine. Among them were the man’s parents who found peace for their son’s death, knowing that he had found his place in a new life.

Eleon was raised in a small village where koi are highly respected. They're seen on display on every corner and depicted on every wall. Being born with koi markings all over his body including most importantly of all his shine Eleon has always been highly regarded and respected among his people.

Everyone there has always believed that the koi fish is a symbol of many things including good fortune and prosperity, so after having a child in their very own small village born with such meaningful markings was a great honor.

Eleon might not believe it to be such an honor though considering his entire life was pretty much laid out for him. He feels he missed out on getting to search for who he could have become. Young kalons admire him so he always has to be a roll model, adult kalons whisper about him when they think he can't hear, sometimes ever older kalons bow before him and ask them for his blessings.

Everyone seems to idolize him and for what? Being born with a certain pattern on his fur? At least that's how he sees it. While he is incredibly thankful for the life he has he only wishes to be normal for a while. He fantasies about leaving his village one day but he hasn't been able to bring himself to do it. He knows it will break his families and friends hearts if he were to do so and he couldn't bear that.

While Eleon dreams of being his own kalon one day he still has beliefs similar to his people. He still believes that koi are symbols of good fortune, prosperity and so many other good things. He has never seen his markings as a curse. If he has ever seen them as anything bad it would only be the fact that they hold him back from discovering a life away from his home.

Eleon may have grown up rather privileged but he is an incredibly sweet and generous kalon. He spends his days and nights helping anyone who comes to him and asks him for his time. His marking have meant a lot to many kalons but to him the personal significance of his markings are that one day even if it's not today or tomorrow that he'll have the good fortune of being content with who he has become as an adult.
