The healer has the bloodiest hands.

Image

This deerssert doesn't need to be based on anyone. ✌️️
My idea was Mercy as a Talon operative. (I'm sure that's greek if you're not into Overwatch.)
It was also inspired by my favourite quote, which is found above.

They're a healer of some sort, but what kind?

"Hm, well I've been working in the business for quite a few years now.... Many see me as this tough, serious, quiet saint... Heh, but in all true reality I am not. Though I don't look surprised when I'm doing my job, the souls... I see them, the demons inside them I see them.. And that's pretty scary."

Abaddon was abandon at a church's front door, tightly wrapped in a white cloth that covered his face. When the door opened two nuns had seen him and with great sympathy for the orphan took him from the doorstep and brought him inside where there were many other drop-off orphans. This was something common to the church, but they refused to ever pass up a child which is probably why they were a hot spot for mothers who could no longer care for their children.

When Abaddon was taken in though, the church had no idea the capabilities of the child, the only thing that struck them as odd was the symbols upon his coat and his often stagnant dark eyes. As the years dragged on and Abaddon grew he became known as "Odd" and "weird" due to his weird staring at his fellow classmates. Many would claim that it was like he could see something, see through them. Abaddon was horribly teased, picked on, and even beaten. It was one day when Abaddon was walking home that the world suddenly realized that he was much more than he seemed..

It was a cold day with chances of light flurries towards the evening and Abaddon was returning to the church with his satchel hanging loosely around his neck as he stared at the pavement. Suddenly Abaddon felt a weight press against him and he was shoved to the ground harshly. Before the young deer could respond he was dragged into the alleyway between two stores in which he was smashed against the pavement multiple times. It was like clockwork, every slam into the ground left a loud ringing in his ears as the smell of copper hung distinctly in the air.. "It's like sucking on a penny" He would often say. He tried to call out, and maybe he was screaming, but all was silent to him as he switched in and out of consciousness. It was an odd sensation but he felt the world go black on him, and he could only see gray lines that followed the buildings shapes. He felt a horrid cold sensation wash over him, and suddenly he realized what was happening.. The two people who were hurting him had their hands around his throat and were choking him. It felt as if someone lit a match in his chest, but the rest of his body felt like ice.

Abaddon was overwhelmed with fear and realization that this was how he would die.. Than he heard screams, and the pressure released. Abaddon was no longer on the floor, he was standing... The black vision with grey outlines was still present, but he did not see the two people hurting him, instead he saw two hearts coiling with black smoke and blue wisps. Abaddon was also holding something between his mouth, it felt hard and as he looked to see what it was he realized it was a large scythe.. A white hue coming off of it. On the blade were phrases from the bible.. and there was a sense of power radiating off of it. When he looked back the two kids had ran away... And a blood stained, bruise ridden Abaddon remained.. This was when Abaddon met his scythe Clyde..

From then on the church knew his purpose, he was heaven sent... Here to kill demons and heal blackened souls.. His job is dangerous, but is one he must do... A popular quote from Abaddon, "Death and I have been scandalously intimate for some time now."

† 𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓽𝔂 †

Abbadon is a very serious and formal deer, his mind always fixed on the mission before hand. He is very determined and hard-working at what he does, knowing that what he is doing is something that must be done. He does have issues with expressing his emotions, and will often throw people off with his often solemn and discontented expressions. He could be happy and be frowning with blank eyes. Abbadon is also a huge introvert and avoids most contact with people outside of his jobs, much preferring the comforting seclusion of his library in his house in the woods. He is very dignified and precise, often known as a 'neat freak' and a perfectionist. He does not tolerate messes and believes everything has its place.

He can be quite urbane and abrasive at times, often sarcastic and blunt which is probably why he works alone. He tends to be overprotective and gets easily upset when others touch his stuff. He is a master at hiding his emotions though, so don't expect to get him to blow up on you and tear your heart out... In fact he'll instead give you a very nasty glare that could churn blood to ice. He is extremely witty and is a master at putting people back in their place and teaching them where they belong, which is both bad a good.. He is a very fixed man and dislikes it when others try to pull him from his job, which makes him very clear over-worker. Is a good mix of choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic.. Anything but sanguine. He is a complete insomniac and rarely sleeps, which gets him chewed out by his very few friends.. He is an extremely elegant and intelligent creature who always has a plan on his mind.

Works with the usual medical healing, but would be considered a "closet healer."

    Extra(s):

    - A Closet Healer?

While Adri is very good at her profession, she is probably the least professional one out there. There’s a reason she’s called a “closet healer” and that reason is because she doesn’t even consider herself a doctor. She picks and chooses which patients to see; usually only if she thinks studying them and their problem would be interesting and would increase her medical knowledge. She turns away people constantly, saying that they are best to go to some other doctor because she has no interest in helping them. Though it is probably seen as cruel, she even goes the extra step to have her prices as low as possible in an attempt to get interesting cases to come to her door.

Other doctors in her profession hold an extreme dislike towards her because of this, but also because of how good she is. It could be argued that she’s the best. She has an extremely board range of knowledge regarding medical experience but also the ability to think outside the box and find cures for things nobody could ever dream of. She doesn’t share this knowledge. She thinks that the other doctors need to figure out solutions themselves if they want to get any better at all. Even if another doctor came to her asking for help, and a patient’s life was on the line, she would still decline because it’s not her problem and also she doesn’t get anything out of it.

Adri takes pride in her work, so you sure as hell better not be going to her with a broken bone. That’s boring.

What happens when a healer goes rogue?
Image

Username:
Queen Chrysalis

Name:
Mercy

Gender:
Female

Healing-related profession:
She used to be a Paramedic (Aka one of the medically trained professionals who respond to 999 calls and major incidents via ambulance.) Now she's a combat medic.

Extra:

Personality:
Mercy was incredibly kind, the sort to have a smile for everyone she met. Her manner firm but understanding. Much beloved by those whom she worked alongside. Never the sort to lash out, even when she was deeply exhausted and wanted nothing more than to just collapse and sleep for a week. Always incredibly smart and quick to respond. She's more cold in recent times. Harsher to those she works with when they squirm and moan in pain. There is less kindness in her heart and more of an itch for violence. Snapping is more common than it used to be as is the sarcasm. Mercy is darker than she was as a paramedic, the blood is beautiful now and the screams are music to her ears. She's become psychotic with a hunger to harm rather than heal.

History:
The day I was born was an average winters day, cold and bleak with not even a single speck of snow in sight. Mother used to tell me that even though the weather didn't perform some sort of glorious miracle like in the books and movies. She thought the world of me the moment she laid eyes on me, father too. I was mothers girl, always trailing round after her as she moved through the house. Mother was incredibly wise and quite stern, while father was the kind jolly sort with that wonderful booming kind of laugh that comes right up from the stomach.

When I turned 8, I decided that I wanted to be a doctor. No special reason, nothing about it being destiny or some other trash like that. No, it was simply what I wanted in life. So I threw myself into schoolwork and quickly became top of my class, secondary school was harder but I made my way through without great incident. College and university were difficult in a way that school never managed to be. Medical School was the hardest thing I've ever done, weeks spent tired with only myself for company while I worked at keeping my grades up.

I used to love my job, I lived for the radio flaring up with a new problem myself and my partner would need to respond to. Being the one to get and possibly help save someones life was a song in my heart. Now? That song has grown discordant and I've grown tired of the scream of sirens echoing in my ears day in day out. I'm stained by phantom blood that will never come off no matter how hard I might scrub at it, my shoulders are weighed down by a mantle of responsibility and it's killing me.

I feel the darkness beckoning me closer, tempting me with sweet nothings and promises of a more entertaining life. Things weren't supposed to turn out this way but then, when do things ever go the way we hope they will?

My life is different now, things have changed. I suppose you could say I swapped sides, no longer do I play doting doctor to insignificant morons. No. Now I am a force to be reckoned with! Being a combat medic is a side job, I prefer assassination jobs. Much more exciting. The scent of blood and the sound of screams lights a fire in my blood and I relish in the harm I cause. Nobody is safe, if it all depends on who takes my fancy on a given day.

Scent:
The smell of blood orange is all most ever know of Mercy, for when possible she remains hidden in the darkness.

Corrupted Mercyssert I love iiit

Name:
Bahadur Donagh
(BAA-HUH-derr DONN-ah-hgh)

Gender:
Male

Healing-related profession:
He simply calls himself 'Healer,' as he has no real "profession." He heals any being that comes to him, no matter how hard the healing process may be (or how wimpy they may be). He's gotten a wide variety of patients, from those who travel miles to see him to those who were merely walking by and decided to stop by to get help. He'll never turn down a challenge or a creature in need of assistance, and he strives to do his absolute best to heal anyone. What he actually does differs for each patient - he knows how to heal most physical ailments and quite a few mental ones, though his specialty is definitely physical ailments such as muscle issues, stomach pains, and broken bones. He'll heal anyone who trots into his tent, and does not refuse a single potential patient...no matter how whiny or annoying they may be to him.

Extra:
Perpetually tired, this deerssert never gets gets enough sleep. He always seems to have bags under his eyes! However, he uses this to his advantage - most of his work is done at night, during insomniac episodes. Bahadur tends to drink insane amounts of caffeine to keep himself focused...but the drink doesn't have much positive effect on him physically, and rather makes him sleepy instead of waking him up more. Regardless, this is how he chooses to function, and because he does his job well, none really complain about his constant and steady intake of these substances.

Bahadur has only one guilty pleasure: oreo cookies. He will do nearly anything to get his hooves on some! Other than enjoying that little splurge of happiness, however, Bahadur rarely smiles. He can seem standoffish at first, as it takes him a long time to warm up to others. This is because he's honestly just socially awkward. He does his best to put up with other deer, but for the most part he just comes across as not-well-versed in communication with others. Bahadur tends to mutter, and will shy away from deersserts if he's approached on a bad day. One a good day he'll sit and listen to them talk, and may converse a bit, but for the most part, he will pretty much stay silent. When he's not working, he's rather quiet and keeps to himself. He's soft-spoken and doesn't enjoy being a socialite. He prefers to study his time away than to chat up other deersserts.

To deal with patients is very demanding, but gets the job done properly - thus, when in the medicine tent where he works, he is all business and no joking around. It's almost as if he has two personas: his normal, quiet and alone one, and the second, loud and working one. When in that medical tent, he is clear in his instructions, making sure to answer any questions asked of him...so long as they are not stupid ones (and very few questions are truly stupid, so he'll answer most anything). He's rather rough with his patients, but he gets the work done, so very few complain. He also prescribes herbs and medications and remedies that tend to take away any pain he creates, so he doesn't think too badly about his roughness. Those that do complain he tends to smack or glare at until they shut up...or he'll just give them a dose of anesthesia to know them out. He doesn't take any flak when working - and if you get in his way in the tent, look out! He'll bowl you over getting what he needs if you don't hand him exactly what he's asked you to paw over to him. He knows that while in that tent he has a reputation to uphold, but more importantly, he has a patient to save - anyone who distracts him from saving that patient shouldn't be there to begin with.

When he's not studying, he likes to get away from the town square and get into the woods to find new flora; he then catalogs them into a journal he keeps. He also sometimes finds rare items in the forest that he places into his knapsack to take back to his tent, and that he knows he can later trade. Bahadur knows how to cut a bargain - he often finds things when he takes walks by himself, and saves them as bargaining chips for later, when the traveling traders stop by the town with new news, along with medical supplies and holistic remedies. He is willing to trade anything for a tome of medical information or herbal knowledge; he once traded a set of dragon's teeth for an entire set of medicinal books giving extensive detail on every muscle, bone, sinew, and cell in the average deerssert, as well as how each portion properly functioned.

Bahadur has a photographic memory - or, at least, a partial-one. He can remember nearly anything he reads, and can pull up any of that information at will. This is why he's very good at knowing what books contain which information he needs to look into more in-depth during any of his study sessions. He doesn't always understand that others don't have this ability, however, and when this happens, he can be rather demanding or rude - he doesn't quite get that most deersserts don't really have the ability to recall information to the degree that he can. If someone does explain this to him and remind him that most deersserts can't do what he does, he is understanding, however, and does his best to move on and not harp on the irritable situation.

Some commonly-heard statements from him are...
  • "For the last time - they're not torture devices, they're medical tools."
  • "Would you move your hooves? You're in my way, and the patient needs gauze and cotton on this wound!"
  • "Please, just get out of here. I work better alone. Nothin' against you - it's just time for you to go."
  • "Your presence is requested elsewhere. I shall see you later."
  • "Grab me the third book on the fifth self, and turn to page three-hundred twenty-seven. What does paragraph six state?"
  • "I'll be going out now. Don't bother following me - stay put here."
