Name: Bahadur Donagh (BAA-HUH-derr DONN-ah-hgh)
Gender: Male
Healing-related profession: He simply calls himself 'Healer,' as he has no real "profession." He heals any being that comes to him, no matter how hard the healing process may be (or how wimpy they may be). He's gotten a wide variety of patients, from those who travel miles to see him to those who were merely walking by and decided to stop by to get help. He'll never turn down a challenge or a creature in need of assistance, and he strives to do his absolute best to heal anyone. What he actually does differs for each patient - he knows how to heal most physical ailments and quite a few mental ones, though his specialty is definitely physical ailments such as muscle issues, stomach pains, and broken bones. He'll heal anyone who trots into his tent, and does not refuse a single potential patient...no matter how whiny or annoying they may be to him.
Extra: Perpetually tired, this deerssert never gets gets enough sleep. He always seems to have bags under his eyes! However, he uses this to his advantage - most of his work is done at night, during insomniac episodes. Bahadur tends to drink insane amounts of caffeine to keep himself focused...but the drink doesn't have much positive effect on him physically, and rather makes him sleepy instead of waking him up more. Regardless, this is how he chooses to function, and because he does his job well, none really complain about his constant and steady intake of these substances.
Bahadur has only one guilty pleasure: oreo cookies. He will do nearly anything to get his hooves on some! Other than enjoying that little splurge of happiness, however, Bahadur rarely smiles. He can seem standoffish at first, as it takes him a long time to warm up to others. This is because he's honestly just socially awkward. He does his best to put up with other deer, but for the most part he just comes across as not-well-versed in communication with others. Bahadur tends to mutter, and will shy away from deersserts if he's approached on a bad day. One a good day he'll sit and listen to them talk, and may converse a bit, but for the most part, he will pretty much stay silent. When he's not working, he's rather quiet and keeps to himself. He's soft-spoken and doesn't enjoy being a socialite. He prefers to study his time away than to chat up other deersserts.
To deal with patients is very demanding, but gets the job done properly - thus, when in the medicine tent where he works, he is all business and no joking around. It's almost as if he has two personas: his normal, quiet and alone one, and the second, loud and working one. When in that medical tent, he is clear in his instructions, making sure to answer any questions asked of him...so long as they are not stupid ones (and very few questions are
truly stupid, so he'll answer most anything). He's rather rough with his patients, but he gets the work done, so very few complain. He also prescribes herbs and medications and remedies that tend to take away any pain he creates, so he doesn't think too badly about his roughness. Those that do complain he tends to smack or glare at until they shut up...or he'll just give them a dose of anesthesia to know them out. He doesn't take any flak when working - and if you get in his way in the tent, look out! He'll bowl you over getting what he needs if you don't hand him exactly what he's asked you to paw over to him. He knows that while in that tent he has a reputation to uphold, but more importantly, he has a patient to save - anyone who distracts him from saving that patient shouldn't be there to begin with.
When he's not studying, he likes to get away from the town square and get into the woods to find new flora; he then catalogs them into a journal he keeps. He also sometimes finds rare items in the forest that he places into his knapsack to take back to his tent, and that he knows he can later trade. Bahadur knows how to cut a bargain - he often finds things when he takes walks by himself, and saves them as bargaining chips for later, when the traveling traders stop by the town with new news, along with medical supplies and holistic remedies. He is willing to trade anything for a tome of medical information or herbal knowledge; he once traded a set of dragon's teeth for an entire set of medicinal books giving extensive detail on every muscle, bone, sinew, and cell in the average deerssert, as well as how each portion properly functioned.
Bahadur has a photographic memory - or, at least, a partial-one. He can remember nearly anything he reads, and can pull up any of that information at will. This is why he's very good at knowing what books contain which information he needs to look into more in-depth during any of his study sessions. He doesn't always understand that others don't have this ability, however, and when this happens, he can be rather demanding or rude - he doesn't quite get that most deersserts don't really have the ability to recall information to the degree that he can. If someone does explain this to him and remind him that most deersserts can't do what he does, he is understanding, however, and does his best to move on and not harp on the irritable situation.
Some commonly-heard statements from him are...- "For the last time - they're not torture devices, they're medical tools."
- "Would you move your hooves? You're in my way, and the patient needs gauze and cotton on this wound!"
- "Please, just get out of here. I work better alone. Nothin' against you - it's just time for you to go."
- "Your presence is requested elsewhere. I shall see you later."
- "Grab me the third book on the fifth self, and turn to page three-hundred twenty-seven. What does paragraph six state?"
- "I'll be going out now. Don't bother following me - stay put here."
