why those?

O'Reilly has a single earring clasped to his left ear that's made in the image of the Irish flag. He's had it ever since he was little, and can hardly ever be seen without the small charm. His parents had told him that they would get him something of his choosing for his birthday, and the then viscling had firmly decided on a pair of earrings sporting his country's flag. He quickly misplaced the right earring, leaving him with only the left. Eventually, after much thought, O'Reilly left his country for somewhere new, and he now kept the earring as not only a gift, but a reminder of where he came from. He bears a certain pride in Ireland, and wishes to always keep a small part of the country with him. Of course, you can't always see the earring- in fact, it's usually covered up by his Winter hat.

His hat is rather nice, made of warm wool, and fits snugly on his head. It was custom tailored by a friend of his to fit on his head, taking into account his ears and mane. O'Reilly wears it because his ears are the first thing to get cold. Having grown up in Ireland, he's used to the more temperate climates and warmer Winters, so nowadays he gets extremely cold most Winter days. O'Reilly adores the hat for more than it's warmness, however. It was actually the first gift he received after leaving Ireland. It means a lot to him that somebody would spend so much time crafting a hat specially for him, and he can be seen wearing it just about any chance he can get, including wearing it indoors.
The third item that can be found around O'Reilly's head is a pair of prescription goggles. O'Reilly has astigmatism, which means that his eyes aren't completely round; ergo, he has blurry vision. This is easily corrected by his pair of glasses that can be found perched on his nose in all seasons but one- Winter. The reason for this is because he quickly found that wearing glasses in cold winds and snow is not his cup of tea. It may have been windy in Ireland, but here O'Reilly found it to be just a bit too much when it snowed as well. So, he ended up with a pair of goggles matching his prescription, allowing him to see normally and to block the wind and snowflakes from his eyes.
Finally, O'Reilly can always be found in the Winter wearing a snug piece of fabric around his tail. Although his coat is extra fluffy and insulated, his tail does get rather cold rather quickly. To solve this, he took an old blanket and fashioned it into a sort of tail-warmer, similar to a leg-warmer. It's rather sloppily made, even with some helpful pointers, but it is meaningful to him, as it's made out of one of the blankets he brought with him from Ireland. It holds some sentiment, to say the least, and when it's warm enough outside it can also be found wrapped around his neck like a scarf. He cherishes it greatly, and is quite proud of having made it almost entirely himself.

"Aye, ya' want ta' know 'bout Cady? Mate, she's the greatest friend I could ask for, hands down. That lass is the life o' the party, I tell ya'! Always there for me when I need it, whether it be ta' just chill or somethin' more interestin'.
O'Reilly and Cadence are as thick as a thieves, the greatest duo. The two of them are best friends, always hanging out and teasing one another. Of course, as with all great relationships, it didn't start out as it is now; it grew and developed from the first time they met. In fact, the first time they met, they didn't exactly hit it off. The pair met their beginnings when O'Reilly first arrived from Ireland, at the docks. Cadence had been waiting for someone who was supposed to arrive on the same boat as O'Reilly but ended up never showing, leaving Cadence hurt and unsure of what to do next. O'Reilly had been totally lost, wandering around trying to find his way, and passed by Cadence a few times, thinking it odd that she was still around. Eventually, tired and completely turned around, he made his way over, cheeky grin in place, and opened up with a cheesy pick-up line. Understandably, an already-aggravated and upset Cadence met with a stranger throwing some weak pick-up line at her did not end well. She promptly socked him right in the face, scowling heavily as he dropped almost instantly. In the end, O'Reilly was left with a bloody nose and a new aquaintence. Over time, they began to spend more time together, and their relationship grew to what it is now. There are no hard feelings over their meeting, but Cadence does get rather flustered when O'Reilly brings it up, to his great delight.
