Andromeda
Andromeda, in Greek mythology, was the beautiful princess of the kingdom Aethiopia. Her mother, Cassiopeia, boasted about how beautiful Andromeda was - she claimed that her daughter was more gorgeous than the Nereids, fifty nymph-like creatures often seen alongside Poseidon. Poseidon was furious at the queen's arrogance, and sent a monster of the name Cetus to ravage the queen's kingdom. The king consulted an oracle, who told him that the only way to save his kingdom would be to sacrifice Andromeda to Cetus. And so, Andromeda was chained to a rock. Perseus later happened upon her location, and killed the monster Cetus to save Andromeda. They were married shortly after.

Andromeda's name also comes from the Andromeda Galaxy, and the constellation Andromeda, after the beautiful princess from Greek mythology. The Andromeda Galaxy is one of the brightest Messier objects and can be seen on most nights, even occasionally in locations heavily lighted with artificial lights. The Andromeda Galaxy's brightness represents this Viscet's individuality and beauty inside and out.

Andromeda is an extremely headstrong Viscet. She dislikes being told by anyone else what to do, or what she is doing wrong. She doesn't take criticism so well, and will usually defend her position when being told that she is wrong.
Andromeda is loyal and outgoing to family and friends, yet often curt with strangers. It takes dedication to truly develop a connection with her. However, she treats her loved ones with absolute respect in exchange, and strongly believes that respect is the most important element of a successful friendship, relationship, etc.
Andromeda is also very independent in general, and always prefers to do things by herself. She doesn't like admitting that she needs help, and she absolutely hates playing the 'damsel in distress.' Her worst fear is having to rely on somebody else to insure safety or survival. Given this, she also dislikes the origins of her name. She looks up to anyone who has defied their presumed role in society, and also wishes to do the same in the future.

Andromeda's favorite constellation is a rather well-known one, yet there is a significant reason for her to favor it.

Artemis was the Greek goddess of the hunt, wild animals, and the wilderness. She was depicted somewhat as a warrior; a huntress with bow and arrows. She seldom allowed herself to be seduced, and never relied on anybody else for her well-being. Orion was Artemis's hunting companion. As the myth goes, Artemis was tricked by her brother, Apollo, into killing Orion and thus she placed him among the stars as a constellation.
This is Andromeda's favorite constellation because Artemis is one of the few heroines in mythology, thus Andromeda looks up to her and keeps a place in her heart for the constellation which Artemis placed in the sky.

Andy is often calm and quiet--an introvert. However, he has a short temper and if someone ticks him off, he can and has exploded, yelling or trying to get into a fight. When he's in a rage, it takes anywhere between a few seconds to a few minutes for him to calm down enough to realize his often colossal mistake. This has lead to him being a mild recluse as he's afraid of hurting his friends.

Sometimes, when Andy is upset, he reads a book or, if it's night, will try to find and name as many constellations as possible. His mild obsession with finding constellations has lead him to love science and anything to do with astronomy, and his friends tease him for being a "know-it-all" when it comes to space.

Andy likes having deep friendships and so while he has many aquaintances, he has few close friends. In addition, as he's an introvert, he isn't very social, which makes it harder for him to find friends. This also means that though he wants to eventually find a partner, he will likely have a hard time talking to them initially, something that worries him.

Favorite Constellation and Why (400 words max)
Andy's favorite constellations are the big and little dipper. He likes these two constellations because they're often hard to find, which makes it a challenge, and because they've always been the ones to clearly resemble an object instead of only vaugely resembling an object, animal, or person. In addition, he's always had a good laugh imagining that the two "spoons in the sky" are scooping up matter to feed a giant space organism.

Nyota is a daring, fearless Viscet, and there isn’t much that frightens her. She is a skilled fighter with quick reflexes. She doesn’t talk much, but really, she is very friendly. She likes to play with scorpions. She also loves to explore. She has a great imagination, and roleplays scenarios in her head. She has sharp vision, and always tries to find little treasures while she explores. She stashes these little trinkets in a large wooden box given to her by her owner, Mchumba. Many things are in this box, including a necklace, a shiny stone, a bottle of stream water, and an old book. Some of these things were found; others were given to her. She cannot read, but she likes to look at picture books. Nyota also likes scary movies. She will sit on the couch with her owner and they will watch the scariest movies they can find together. Oddly enough, Nyota also enjoys children's shows and cat videos. Nova also likes digging, so Mchumba put a sandbox in the backyard for her. She hides items in the sand for Nyota to find, which stops her from getting bored. The bond between Mchumba and Nyota is extremely strong. They would trust each other with their lives. Even though Nyota can be reckless, she is loyal, and she would gladly put herself into harm’s way to protect Mchumba or Malyn. She will jump into harm’s way to help anyone who seems to be in trouble, whether it be a person getting robbed or an abandoned dog. Many times, Mchumba has helped Nyota nurse an injured animal back to health, and made sure they found a good home. (279 words)

Scorpio. She loves Scorpio because her favorite animal is a scorpion. She likes to look for scorpions in her free time. Thanks to her quick reflexes, she can play with even aggressive scorpions. She takes care of an Emperor Scorpion, named Malyn, as a pet. She is careful with Malyn, and lets him out to explore every day. She lets him ride on her head as well. He is very calm, and when she stargazes, she sometimes takes Malyn out with her and lets him sit in her hands. She’ll point out the constellations to him, and she gets very excited in July, when she sees Scorpio. The first night she sees it, she gets very excited. She always points it out to Malyn. Her owner likes to watch the stars too, so she’ll sit with Nova many nights. It isn’t uncommon to see all three of them outside at night, Malyn nestled in Nyota’s hands, and Nyota sitting right next to her owner. (164 words)

Nyota is a domesticated Viscet who lives in Africa. She was raised in captivity. Mchumba lets her explore whenever she wants, because she knows that Nyota will always come back. Nyota started collecting scorpions when she was about a year old, but would always let them go after observing them for a little while. Her owner noticed her interest in scorpions and bought an Emperor scorpion for her as a pet. Nyota was extremely grateful, and makes sure that he gets the care he needs. Sometimes she’ll take him out of the tank and walk around the house. Nyota will let him ride on her head or back. He usually doesn’t pinch her. He is very calm for an Emperor scorpion. Her hobbies include stargazing (obviously) and making decorations for Malyn’s tank. When she stargazes, she sometimes takes Malyn out with her and lets him sit in her hands. She’ll point out the constellations to him, and she gets very excited when she sees Scorpio. On July 10th, she sleeps outside under the stars. July 10th is her birthday, and this is her favorite way to spend it. July is also the best viewing time for Scorpio, so she can always see it on her birthday. Mchumba brings out a tent and they eat dinner outside, then camp together. Malyn comes, too! (222 words)
