Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. These three came from different homes but are all friendly towards each other almost immediately when they met on a small walk outside the shelter.

#118 Border Collie
This darling came from a well known farm nearby that is known for training and breeding Border Collies. This particular bab, though they were taught to herd sheep, taught themselves how to "dance" and "sing" to music. This caused for them to not be a very good farm dog so they sent the young dog here.

#119 Papillon
This dog was dropped off by a college student, who was trying to take a class in dance. Whenever they would practice their routine, the dog would get excited and jump around their legs. Unfortunately, this caused for the student to be unable to practice in their own apartment so they would leave to a friend's apartment so that they could practice in peace. She eventually was unable to care for the dog so they were sent here.
PROMPT: Why did they do that in the apartment?

This dog loves attention, especially when they "sing" and prance. They did this soooo often (and on hardwood floors no less) that the owner eventually grew annoyed. They tried to train them to not do that but it didn't work so they sent them here.

Describe how they "dance"?:
Waltz loves to stand on his hind legs and almost does a step by step type of waltz and loves to dance with a partner if offered! He can also break dance! He will lay on the ground and use his paws to try and spin himself then he stops and poses for a few seconds before getting up. He also can do a speedy type dance, he uses all four paws and he steps and hops on them like he would be stepping in cold water!

Why did they do that in the apartment?:
Mariposa wanted to dance along with her owner! She loves to be involved in whatever those around her are doing, and if that meant doing her own doggy dance that was what she would do. However, she had trouble keeping her balance and wanted to stay as close to her owner as possible in case she fell and to feel secure, but she ended up causing her owner to stumble and trip a lot, even though it wasn't intentional.
Personality: Mariposa is an excitable, high energy dog. She loves to do things with her human, weather it be walks, playing with a ball, or just eating dinner at the same time! She is very clingy to her people and to her doggy friends. She is scared of cats, but noises like cars and thunder don't seem to phase her.
She does well in any environment it seems. She doesn't care about getting dirty or wet and any none-feline animal is automatically her friend and playmate.
She is very outgoing and friendly with everyone, definitely no guard dog!
She has an annoying habit of incessant licking, but she is just trying to show her love.1

Why do they like to "sing"?: Bella gets really excited around anyone new, and her first instinct is to howl in greeting. No matter who it may be, person, dog, cat, etc, Bella with 'sing' her heart out for her newfound friend. Meeting new people isn't the only time that Bella bestows beautiful howled notes onto anyone's ears in a street-block radius, however. Bella will also howl and bark at hearing the doorbell or someone knocking on the door. At times this can get annoying and stressful having a dog that howls at nearly every noise associated with someone's arrival to their home. But what can you do when your Dachshund just loves to 'sing'?

Why do they like to "sing"?:
Ping doesn't only sing to impress his owner but for one other devious reason. To annoy the neighbors. Ping has hated the neighbors that live to their left because they make so much noise and they yell often. So to get revenge, he would sing at the top of his lungs.

Describe how they "dance"?:
Cadence has an odd way of dancing for sure. She begins by hopping around on her back legs, and one front leg. The other front leg is usually held up in front of her as she sort of 'bounces' along. Gradually she will stand up on her hind legs and start walking forward that way until she loses balance, but the build up to this feat is hilarious to watch.
Personality:
Cadence is high energy like most Border Collies, but more willing to settle down than some. She loves nothing more than cuddle time and some one on one with her owner. She is a real sweetheart, always eager to please. But she is a little clumsy and a bit too curious, sometimes resulting in some disastrous accidents (Like knocking over a bowl of goldfish when she wagged her tail too hard and hit the table leg with her hip . . . ).
Cadence tries harder than most to be a good dog. She will do anything you ask of her.
She likes to howl though, which is at times very annoying. She has a terribly high pitched howl and will howl incessantly when excited or scared. Right now we are working on ways to get her to stop. Yelling at her or hitting her would just make it worse, but we hope distracting her with a toy might prove to work.
Cadence hates thunder, and though she was raised as an outdoor kind of dog likes being by the fireplace as much as in the field. She doesn't like rain and will refuse to go out in it, even just to use the bathroom.
Having been in the country a lot Cadence dislikes city noises like lots of traffic, yelling, honking, etc. She prefers the quiet of the country and woods.

Describe how they "dance"?: Well Aspen dances in a fluid almost hip hop,tango and ballet style but Aspen normaly dances with his little friendly buddy Alpine. Together they twirl and leap and play together creating differant styles and routenes.
