his ways. Whether that's a good thing
or a bad thing depends on who you ask. But personally, Draven see's it as a strength. He's generally not willing to cave into others just to go with the crowd, therefore he feels as though he can make logical decisions better without the pressure impacting him. Though, like everyone else, he does have moments where he loses his stubbornness and gives into immense pressure. These cases are pretty rare, and normally don't happen when said pressure is coming from a stranger. He's a lot more likely to give into friends than strangers. There is a certain responsibility he feels to them, and doesn't want to disappoint or upset any of his friends. Don't believe he gives up all of his stubbornness around his friends, though, he's still plenty hard-headed.
Being born in the 1920's, Draven experiences a lot of social pressure that is put on men, especially where work is concerned. He doesn't have a job that involves much physical labor, instead he has one that a women is generally expected to do. He works in a large city coffee shop as a waiter, a job he'd taken simply because there wasn't many other options at the time. Work was a rarity to find, and you had to take whatever was in front of you. The owner had seemed skeptical about hiring a male waiter at first, but as long as the work got done, he didn't care who did it.
Draven was reserved the first couple of days a work. The expression on his face as he served customers was one that screamed, 'don't talk to me'. Eventually he began engaging in small talk as the regulars of the cafe began to acknowledge his existence. Eventually he would begin to enjoy the conversations with the customers, and not see it as a painful chore that came with the job. Working at the cafe really helped Draven become a bit more outgoing and expressive about his emotions. Before taking on the job, he'd been one that kept to himself, preferring solitude over other kalons.
Not all experiences in the cafe shaped him for the good, though. Because of the nature of the job and how it was perceived back then he was often referred to as 'she', among other things, by some of the the ill-mannered clients. He tried his best to just ignore comments like that, and take any threats as empty threats, but it did get to him sometimes. He'd found some good friends through the cafe, though, and taking a bit of harassment was worth it to meet those people in his eyes.
Now that Draven has less issues approaching people, he's been more apt to make friends. Still cautiously, though. The bad experiences with other kalons at the cafe gave him a good taste of how judgmental people could be, which has made him a bit weary around others. Before (despite being pretty shy) he was really quick to trust kalons. He hadn't had the dose of reality the cafe had given him at that point in his life. He knew the world wasn't perfect, but he was still willing to believe that everyone was good at heart.
As far as his friends goes, he still doesn't have too many. He prefers it that way, too. It gives him time to focus on each relationship more, and have a decent amount of time for each kalon. He doesn't understand how the 'popular' kalons do it. He has a hard enough time finding room for the kalons he already has in his life.

He tries his best to be content with the life he's got right now, with little concern for what the future will hold. He tends not to make plans of any sort, as he feels they'd just be ruined in the end by some factor he didn't account for.
