Although Jax acts pretty full of himself, constantly acting flirty and confident, this is a mask he puts up to hide the fact that he is actually incredibly self-conscious. He actually doesn't like the way he looks, and spends an awful lot of time comparing himself to others, and trying to make himself both feel and look adequate, in his own opinion.
