Our test subject was a young boy, eyes a crisp golden, but somehow empty. He was an orphan kid. "Donated" to our cause. We were unconventional, but where were we gonna get a kid? Children were more susceptibly to emotional manipulation, so we thought we'd give it a try, even if this one was about 13. It seems we picked a lucky one though. His face was blank as a board of wood, and he was extremely quiet. His name on his records is "Reigi", with the last name haphazardly whited out. However, I didn't question it. Anyway, tests are beginning now! Today marks the day that our small organization began research on a way to wipe emotion!

Needless to say, the underfunded organization was quite unsuccessful, even after years. And they were quite cruel to little Reigi too, who was now around eighteen. But, the testing and experimenting ended when he was seventeen due to some of the employees quitting and letting word out of how terrible the place really was, and the psychological damage they had mostly likely caused the kid. But... Where does that leave Reigi? They had actually succeeded in making him subside and even control his emotions, but not get rid of them all together. He felt rather hollow, but he didn't seem to mind. Thus, he was sent to live with a caregiver, an energetic young kalon by the name of Marvel at the age of 25.
"Your life begins here!" She said with a smile as she took my hand.

Marvel was no psychologist. She wasn't concrete on how a regular person's mind worked, let alone someone who had been tested on for a few years. But she did know somethings, like how to care for people, and how to make people feel better! It was... Challenging. He'd smile, but he wasn't happy. He was empty, and she could almost feel it, heavy in the air. But she was going to help him, and enjoy doing so. She tried talking to him ever day, and each time he revealed something. He seemed "emotionless", but what she got was that he was more of... Depressed, and quite awkward after being cooped up in some creepy brain facility.
They had been together for a whole year. Throughout it was hard, but little moments sprouted up that showed growth. He began to speak just a little to her, sometimes slipping how how he feels. And she really started to believe his smiles were becoming genuine. Though, he wasn't exactly sure. Sometimes they were, and sometimes they were just to make her feel better. In his time with her up to then, Reigi had felt the genuine stings of guilt, for sure. He didn't want to make her upset. But, he found himself becoming a little bit easier to understand. He didn't think he liked anything, but But Marvel introduced him to a lot of things... Simple things like chess, and board games and even some cooking. It was one of the first times in a long time that he had felt some kind of enjoyment.
IV."i think this world is precious" // V. "flowers feat. nori"
Marvel looked up, almost petrified by his face. He was silhouetted by the bright light of the setting sun, but she could see them, glistening like diamonds on his dark cheeks... Tears. But there was also a smile on his face. A faint one, one that almost brought her to tears as well. However, she held back with a sniffle or two, and took him into her arms. She had simply taken him out to celebrate... Whenever his birthday had been, and now he was in tears.
". . . Thank you . . . For everything."
