Pita was born to a feral cat who'd been found and given to the PAWS rescue organization right before Pita and her littermates' birth. There were four kittens in the litter, although one was stillborn, leaving Pita and two brothers. Her brothers were called Poppy and Oliver, and her mother was named Anika.
The small family lived together in the shelter for some time before Oliver and Poppy were adopted by the same family. Poppy and Pita had never been close, so she wasn't as disappointed to see him go, however she and Oliver were good friends, and their goodbye was tearful. Anika was torn apart by losing her kits, and eventually, she became violent and depressed. She grew extremely aggressive, and stopped eating, and the staff ended up moving Pita to another cage. They were worried that Anika might hurt Pita, although Pita had been the one helping her mother all along. However, in her new cage, she met a new cat, who just so happened to be Wilbur Bud. The two became close friends, despite neve being able to see each other because Bud was in the cage next door.
Pita was adopted by a kind woman before she could see her mother (or Bud) find a home. Pita was reluctant to go, and cried during the entire car ride. She hid when she was released in the house, and didn't come out for days. Eventually, she grew hungry and curious, and caved in to her feelings. She explored the house while her woman was asleep, and ate right before she woke up so that she had enough energy to avoid the woman during the day.
However, it was only a matter of time before the woman would get to Pita.
The woman came home early one day, when Pita wasn't expecting it. When she walked in, she made a strange cooing sound at Pita, and Pita's mind went blank. She couldn't remember her hiding spots, and could think to do nothing. She expected the woman to grab her and start to pet her excessively, but the woman simply extended a hand and allowed Pita to sniff her fingertips. She smelled of vanilla and mint.
Pita gave in to the woman's kindness, and the two became very close. Pita would cuddle up in the woman's bed at night, and sit in her lap when she got home from work and sat down on the couch with her takeout. Pita would always get a little bite of it, no matter what it was.
Once, Pita got locked out of the house by accident. The woman had left a window open, and Pita jumped out, only to discover she coudn't get back in. She freaked out under the windowsill until another cat came to help her.
That was the first time that Pita had ever seen Bud's face.
Bud had been adopted by a person down the road, and had heard Pita crying and wanted to know what all the noise was about. Pita and Bud hung out for the rest of the day, until the woman returned home. However, Bud would visit Pita's back porch every day, and they would talk until the woman got home.
One night, the woman came home late, and she brought a man with her. Pita didn't like him; he smelled like many bad things, and he had rough hands. Unfortunately, the man returned almost every night. He and the woman would talk and talk, and perform courtshops that Pita found strange. She didn't like him being around. Pita could barely have any time with the woman anymore.
The man wasn't nice to Pita. He spoke in a nasty way, and often would kick her if she got in his way.
One night, the woman and the man started yelling at each other. The woman shoved the man out the door, and spent the restof the night crying, curled up with Pita.
The next morning, however, when the woman opene the door to leave, the man was sitting there.
He awoke when she made a noise at him, and he stood and gaveher something. Adn Pita's owner, the same owner who'd shoved out the same man the night before, was now in his arms.
The next night, the man gently picked up Pita.
He opened the door, flung her into the night, and slammed the door.
Pita sat outside the door and scratched the door and screamed all night long before she finally gave up. She lay there, on the front step, all night before Bud found her. Once Pita explained, hysterically, of course,Bud gently led her away. Bud kept her moving all day and halfway into the night before they found that car.
Bud knew that it would take them away from that place. That was why she led Pita into it in the first place.
Once they were found in the trunk, they were taken to a good shelter. Eventually, they were both adopted by the same owner, and continue to live happily together with an owner who would never throw them away.
