The spoiled prince of a small kingdom. His destiny had been clear from the moment he was born; his mother named him Shahzad, meaning "prince", to make sure that all who heard his name would recognise his power. The little kalon had no objections, since life as royalty was pretty fun. In fact, Shahzad couldn't wait to grow up and inherit the throne. Their kingdom was small but rich and peaceful, and the king's most important job was just to make sure that none of his subjects had any complaints. Life was good and Shahzad couldn't have been more happy with his life as a prince.

When Shahzad was two, he dreamed of owning a golden toy train. He explained this to his mother, and without a second of delay she had the royal goldsmith make him one.

When he turned five, Shahzad had a dream where he was singing with dozens of brightly-coloured birds. In the morning he told his parents, and by the following morning the king had arranged for 12 different exotic birds to be sent to the castle from all around the kingdom.

When Shahzad was twelve years old, he had another captivating dream - this time it was of a huge party, with all of the kingdom's people invited. There were food, gifts, music and dancing and the festivities lasted for a whole day. This one took some arranging, but the following week the royal family held the most magnificent celebration the kingdom had ever seen. The happy Shahzad was the center of everything.

Then one night, when he was seventeen, Shahzad dreamed of an insect. The bug was the size of Shahzad's paw with big, spherical eyes, delicate wings and bright red scales glimmering in the light. In the dream it buzzed around gently and landed on the kalon's shoulder, stretching it's thin wings and finally flying away. Shahzad woke up completely mesmerized by this magnificent insect. He knew he had to own one.
Shahzad ran to his father, quickly explained his dream and insisted that he had to get one of those insects immediately. The kalon couldn't wait to have one buzzing in a cage next to his royal bed with shimmering scales glittering in the candlelight. But to Shahzad's disappointment the king had no idea what his son was talking about. He had never heard of such a creature - and neither had anyone else in the whole castle. To please his son, the king had all of the kingdom's leading animal experts sent to the castle, but none of them had ever heard of anything like the insect that Shahzad described. The king tried his best to offer Shahzad other insects, but none of the common butterflies or beetles were a match to the dreamy bug in Shahzad's head.

After that, the little bug was all Shahzad could dream of. Whenever he closed his golden eyes, this shining, glimmering insect returned to him. Every morning he woke up more hypnotized by this magnificent creature, and soon he couldn't even think of anything else than owning this critter.

Shahzad's parents grew worried. Their son's eighteenth birthday was soon coming up, and instead of preparing for the festivities Shahzad spent every one of his waking moments searching the castle's book collection for the insect of his dreams. After a while he had ransacked the whole library without finding a trace of this glorious glimmering bug. Disappointed and frustrated he yelled at his servants and went back to bed.

The following night he had the same dream, but this time with a different ending. Instead of flying away and leaving poor Shahzad sad and alone, the winged insect spoke to him. It told the kalon to leave the kingdom and travel to a far away land to finally find it. "You will never find me close to your home", the bug spoke. Shahzad woke up with his heart racing with determination and a head full of ideas.

He told his parents about his plan to leave on a journey. The king and queen were not happy, and tried to stop their son, but Shahzad had already made up his mind. In the middle of the night he packed his bags, left his crown on his empty bed and for the first time in his life, decided to make his dream come true by himself.

what are their dreams?

Prince never outgrew his childhood desire for the impossible. Ever since he saw the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" when he was very young, he has wanted to make dreams come true, just like Willy Wonka. He found inspiration in how the sad life of Charlie's family was turned around completely by one man, and he aspires to be as kind and generous. He himself started out from humble beginnings. His mother named him Prince, partially as an ironic joke, and partially because she hoped it would set him up for greatness. Prince spends his free time wandering the streets and observing people, wondering how he could change each individuals life. He carries a brown leather journal with him with a gold crown on the front and writes down his ideas as they come to him. Sometimes they are in images, so he draws them. He also records his dreams in them each morning, looking for inspiration hidden somewhere that could help in achieve his dreams in his waking life.

While Prince's dreams may not be quite the same as a chocolate waterfall or a world made of candy, he still aspires to make others feel as if they are living in that world. His heart is truly open and generous. On the front page of his journal is written his favorite quote from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." He reads it every day and does his best to dream up a better world, even if it is just by giving a piece of candy to a child.
