*throws arms up* Kat! (I don't know why I keep doing this :/

Have you ever come across a song that (1) made you want to write or (2) inspired a story?
If so, care to share it?
Mm . . . . Let's see. Well, yes, but the one I'm thinking of at the moment is . . . less than apropriate for younger viewers, so I'll leave that alone! Uh . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I guess these;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV-HPOHu8mY (MY SONG)

I can't think of anything else of the top of my head that I can post here, honestly.

    @DeMaizu; Thank you for the sage advice, I'll be sure to follow it.

    As for my own advice, although I'm not the most experienced, I can definitely say some things.
    First of all, making a schedule for writing will 100% help you finish your work. This is just good advice for any writing with a deadline, really, although I can't say I take my own advice all that often {I'm terrible at schedule making}.
    Secondly, if you're not inspired, don't force yourself to write. Instead, do more productive things with your time and, trust me, if you think about where you are in your story while you're doing things, ideas will come. I do this a lot, and it usually helps me to figure out where I actually want to go in a story. Also, there are a few others things you can do to inspire yourself, like listen to music, look up images, etc. Most of my really inspired work comes from when I listen to music. {a word of caution, though, if you're going to listen to music make sure it keeps the same theme that your story has. I wouldn't recommend listening to horrorcore while you're writing a love story.}
    Thirdly, and I can not stress this enough, don't get discouraged by word count. I know some days it might seem like you're coming up short, but keep in mind that you have a month to write and you won't be hitting an exact word count on any of them. Some days you'll write well over what your word goal for the day is {that's another thing, too. You might want to set word goals for yourself so as a bit of a motivator ^.^} and that'll make up for any short days.
    lastly, have fun and don't stress! Really, this is meant to be a bit of a challenge for any writer no matter how long they've been writing. There's no point in getting stressed over something little!

    @Ranger; Thank you for the advice as well! and to answer your question;
    I have! If you would like to hear the song, here it is, and here is the story it inspired. I never really got farther than that, but I'd like to continue it in the future. SMOL EDIT gosh I'm so forgetful; I only got to chapter 3, roughly 2000 words. Not really close to the actual goal, but I'm still pretty happy with how far I got.

    @kato; thank you~ I've been thinking about continuing it far awhile but I don't really have the time T^T
    A lot of my effort goes into my novel {I would link it but it's in several parts and in the process of being heavily edited, but maybe on day} so I don't have a lot of time to work on my other writing from creative bursts. I haven't really thought about where I would like it to end yet, but it's definitely something to think on.

Welcome new peeps!

@Ranger I like it!

I know other people posted story parts and such, but I'll have to read them later.

Have you ever come across a song that (1) made you want to write or (2) inspired a story?
If so, care to share it?

Oh boy I'm so ready for this.
Say It Now by We The Kings That's the one that made me write a thing for Spencer and Tobes.
Light Em Up by Fall Out Boy
Let Your Hair Down by Capital Lights
Millionaires by The Script I tend to write about Mack and Riley when I listen to this.
And way too many other songs.

I really wanna write but I just can't get started.

I tend to listen to music and almost imagine it cinematically, so this one song called Your Guardian Angel by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and I always think about writing Destiel fanfiction lol. Ooh and Angel with a Shotgun by The Cab is always super supernatural-filled idea-wise. I've never actually followed through with writin any of them, but hey it's fun to think about! (So shocker I'm into angels, literally my favorite concept)

My number one problem is sticking with a story, I just started a another one. And I think I might actually continue with this one! Because for me I have to write with something I can connect to or be able to connect with the characters.

Autumn’s POV
It was just another walk.
5 days a week I would walk down the sidewalk,
Alone.
I pass by the same house, it’s trees hanging over the fence.
Suddenly, my stomach starts growling. I didn’t have enough time for breakfast this morning, I just grabbed a granola bar and ran for the door.
Each morning, if I stick to waking up and leaving on time each day. I end up at school with about 7 minutes to spare.
Once I finally got to school I entered the classroom with my backpack hung over my shoulder.
I sigh, as I listen to my fellow classmates gossip and whisper with each other. Let’s face it, this is the reality of the world.
I sit down and prepare my books making sure to not make eye-contact with anyone. Survival instincts kick in especially during the morning and during break-time.
Time flies by as each tick on the clock passes each number.
“Alright class! Sit down, and listen”. Our demanding teacher, Mr. Jones pronounced towards us.
“We have two new students, they also happen to be twins”. They didn’t look like twins. The taller twin, a boy with dark blonde hair and brown eyes. The other twin, a girl with brown hair and blue eyes that had almost blinded my sight.
“I’m Isla, it’s nice to meet you!”. The girl squeaked at us with excitement, and as for the brother he said,
“I’m Caleb”. He said, flipping his hair out of his eyes like a majestic super model. I want you to know I mean that in a bad way.
Isla took a seat next to Felix. Felix happened to be what you call a “bad boy” Getting expelled multiply times from almost all the school’s in his hometown and beating up like 50 kids at each of the schools. That’s right, you’re classic world of status quo.
And there is Caleb, he decided to take a seat next to the one and only Violet Day. Even her name has a nice ring to it. I could already tell by the facial expression on Violet’s face screamed “I’m a devil. Deal with it or you could fall in love with me”.
The rest of the day continued like normal...
Besides the walk home.

Hi again! I think I introduced myself earlier?

...what's the carrot thing again? I can't remember XD.

Anyways, I have a lot of opportunities to be a lazy writer because I'm in a high school/program kind of thing for writing, and it's pretty intensive. (that's the right usage right) Now we're doing short stories and I have to come up with the beginning of one, and some characters, pretty soon. Oh, but earlier we were doing poetry and I finished four poems so... here's one of those, I guess:

My Aunt, Who Was Surrounded by Butterflies

She came in November
in a cloud of yellow wings,
her smile the thin surface of ice
on deep water.

The butterflies gave her a fluttering glow,
rested in her hair.
When she laughed they took flight
like breezeblown petals, swirling.

On the last day of the month,
standing in our bare backyard that waited for snow,
she whispered. “Please.”
They clung to the sleeves of her red sweater,
tugged, wings heartbeat quick.

She rose slowly, floating above crushed, dead leaves,
arms spread,
staring through pale blue
to stars folded in blackness.

No, I have no idea what's going on here. I originally had an ending where she came back down to the ground and this whole metaphor thing, but my teacher said I should end it here and, well, I guess it is more interesting that way.

Welcome Elf! Erulasse as well have I seen you before? Don't touch carrots!! Stay away from them :0

I've never had a song inspire an entire new story, but I do have music that inspires me to write. The Piano Guys music is absolutely amazing, and it's great for listening to while writing. Very inspiring ^^ Here is a link to one of my favorites.

@SilvercrescentMoon
I adore this song, it's kind of sad but happy and just inspires me whenever I listen to it to write for some odd reason.

Welcome along, CJ! :D or have you been here before? Anyways, if you're new: don't touch carrots! They're lethal to us mortals :shock:

Oo, good luck! :D What's your novel about?

Oh dear... that sounds like a problem; what's up with it?

I am new to this thread, so thanks for the welcome. And okay. Will do. I will avoid all carrots. why?

My novel is essentially about magic and faeries in a modern day, big city. It's like gang wars between fae courts and witches. (That's the best summary I can think of without getting too into it.) I wrote it last winter, and it just wrote so easily (I think it was the first time that i didn't experience writers block) but when I reread it, it was kind of ehh.

My big problem now is that I need to find a way for Ben (my protagonist) to interact with (and become indebted to) Kyran (the main antagonist) but right now I have it with Ben becoming Kyran's apprentice and it reads really dumb and feels forced...

Bleh.
