Lavender Story: 09-27-2010, a date that will change the whole herd's fate. The child next in line was born. The new upcoming leader.
With awe, his mom and dad gazed down at their little prince who will take over and rule their fellow equines. Mesmerized by his elegance they smiled upon his birth which they have waited so eagerly for. Their son was finally a part of this world.
The same day, the foal's parents decided on calling him Valerian, a name that should bring him strength in times of need.
The herd was in the mood of celebration, everyone happy for the future's leader as they were prancing around in joy.
Everyone, besides one. An older stallion that recently came back from a journey that was forced upon him by the current leader due to being a delinquent and repeatedly breaking the rules. His uncle.
One month after the other passed as time flew and young Val turned into a youngster. Rather quiet, shy and reserved, but with curiosity and spunk once something peaked his interest. It was a day starting not any different from any other, a light breeze carried the scent of the morning, the dew on the flowers still fresh as fog slowly creeped off into the distance. The silver black up and awake with nothing to do. Aimlessly walking around camp, Valerian meet his uncle coming back from patrol. "Greetings, young prince, mind a stroll in the forest?" His voice a calm and deep nicker as he eyed the foal. "M-Momma told me not to go into the forest, it is dangerous.", staggering a little on his legs out of nervousness. "But you are not going alone, I will be by your side at all times." A smile crept onto his muzzle, giving the youngling a light nudge. "A-Alright, if uncle is accompanying me..", finally agreeing, Val trotted after the tall stallion.
A long time passed and the sun already rose above them as they went onwards. "U-Uncle, don't you think we have been walking long enough? I am getting tired." Valerian questioned obviously exhausted. "Just a little further, we are almost there." The Khim replied. "Where are we even going??", with a sigh he kept following. "I can't tell you it is a surprise, you will soon see." A quick answer to silence him. After another short while, the stallion suddenly came to a halt. "Wait here for me, I will just verify something." He ordered with a low neigh, a sneer on his lips as he left the foal behind and made his way up an overhanging rock, taking his time. "B-But uncle!!" Watching him leave, Val became restless as he didn't came back right away. Walking further ahead against what his uncle had told him, he stopped as a huge cave entrance gaped before him. A sudden sound caught his attention and he took a step back as a bear cub pocked its head out, approaching him and cooing. The foal pulled his harks back at the bundle of fur bounding over to him, going round and round in a circle as it chased him playfully.
It was then that a grunt echoed out of the cave and a huge brown bear exited, growling at the young fella. "Whaaa...!!" Spooked and scared, he backed off as the momma-bear released a loud roar and rose to her paws. At a loss, Val didn't know what to do until he heard a voice, "Don't be scared, you will only make her mad.". Searching the source in a haste, the dark Khim spotted the other stallion on the edge of a seemingly cliff. "Uncle, what do I do?!" He whinnied in desperation as the bear came closer. "Fight for your life.", his voice was cold as he observed the situation from up on his perch. "I can't! Save me, uncle, save me!" Neighing and crying the silver black saw the creature draw near, intending to claw him. "Then die. I won't save you." In his icy husky voice he turned and left, disappearing into the forest. "Don't! Uncle, come back!", a high-pitched cry for help before the female slapped him hard, claws racing along his skin and digging into his ankle as Valerian tried to run away with the bearess following up behind.
In pain, hurting and completely drained, the young Khim managed to get away, hiding in bushes before the bear got tired of chasing him away. Not long after a patrol found and picked him up, taking him back to camp where he was nursed. The injury on his ankle never recovering properly, leaving a white mark to remind him of this day.
Years later, Valerian's dad had gotten old and sick, everyone was worried about him, mom especially. By now, he himself was going on patrol as well and what he had to witness one day, let his blood run cold at the scene. His own uncle battling his father before forcing and actively pushing him off a cliff, letting him fall to his death. His whole herd unaware of the fact, only merely mourning his disappearance. But the stallion knew the cruel truth and his uncle too, caught him witnessing his crime. Threatening to kill him as well if he were to tell a soul. Afraid, he kept it a secrect until one fateful night.
"Mom, about dad.. About his death, there is something important I need to tell you. You see, uncle-" Val was cut off sharply as a deep voice spoke up, "Prince Valerian, I have very urgent information I need to discuss with you, could you please met up with me at the Big Oak?" Pressing him to shut up. "Right now, I can't. I will meet you later." With a dismissing flick of his plume he turned his attention back to his mother. "Val, you shouldn't let urgent matters wait, you can talk to me later. Go and discuss with your uncle." The mare spoke softly, giving him a loving nudge to the shoulder.
Meeting at the huge tree, the stallion confronted him. "You were about to spill, we're you not? Don't you remember what I did to your father? I told you, I will kill you if you talk." A steady smirk on his lips as he started circling the younger equine. "You shall receive punishment for even trying, something which will never make you forget your place.". In a blink, the tall Khim reared and came crashing down on his face, a hoof beating right onto his lavender eye before his vision went black and he fell to the ground passing out.
Waking up, the prince had to lean his eyesight was lost in that certain eye. The lie was smoothly covered up by saying a branch had broken down and hit him, making him blind. It was difficult at first for him to handle his sudden deficit, but over time he became used to it. And he had to understand, there was no winning against his uncle.
Evening washed over the land and Valerian was out on patrol near the mountains as a loud hiss hit his ears with an alarming whinny following shortly after. The Khim realized it was the sounds of a battle, as he speeded up to investigate. Halting at the edge of a ledge, the silver black saw a cougar attacking and latching onto a horse, bititng into it furiously. Rearing and releasing a loud neigh, trashing into the air, the mountain lion got spooked and retreated for now. "Help me, Prince, please bring help, I beg you!!" The stallion nickered desperately, having an incredible hard time to breath. A big chunk of flesh missing on his neck, unable to get up, feeling how life left his body. Valerian gazed down at him with pure coldness, his blind eye facing mainly. "Suffer and die for your crimes and sins." With that, the dark Khim turned around and left, cries of pain echoed in the distance before a screech silenced the voice. Without looking back and just squeezing his eyes shut for a mere moment, he continued onwards.
Just a couple months after that, Val decided to leave the herd after choosing a new suitable leader that happened to make his mom happy as well.
