A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife. . . .

Then I defy you, stars.

Kalon Name:
Rei-Brenin Karalis
Gender:
male
Quote:
"When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state,
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries,
And look upon myself, and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope "
- Sonnet 29
How the quote relates to this kalon:
Rei grew up another orphan, alone and
without a family of his own. Just another boy
struggling to make ends meat. Like many
others cast aways on the streets, he dreamed
for a life of luxury without care. He
wanted to be like them, able to buy whatever his
heart desired. He would watch in jealousy as they
passed him, shielding their child's eyes and telling
them not tolook at this hardened boy. He watched
as they hid their money from him, picking up their pace as they
went home. He began to develop scorn towards them,
wishing them nothing but hard times.
Rei would spend days on the hot streets reading his poetry,
putting on a play for those who he both envied and hated.
Day after day he'd perform his routine, watching as countless
numbers of people passed him. A few would occasionally toss a
stray coin into his can, to them he would top his hat. Soon, he
began to notice a reoccurring man in his crowd, always watching
but never giving him anything in return. This man was everything
Rei hated, a man who used his money for tearing others down
and building himself up.
One day the man approached him, asked him if he could take
Rei under his wing. Rei was stunned, for he had always dreamed
of being 'a gentleman'. Rei had many mixed feeling when it came
to those with money, resentment, envy, loathing, shame, and
sadness. Accepting the mans offer, Rei was raised from the age 14
to be everything he hated.
He became cold and manipulative, still harboring his hatred for
who he was and who he was bound to become. He was ashamed of
what he was, and was scared of what he might be. Rising through
the ranks of high society Rei became a popular character, known
for his flowing poetry and cold ways. He broke many hearts, and
had many powerful friends. After leaving his mentor behind, Rei
continued off on his own, slowly becoming what he hated most.
Rei was a prince in his knew life, a man with a crown of thrones
and words as his weapon.

Kalon Name: Sophis
Gender: Male
Quote:
"I like not fair terms and a villain's mind". - (The Merchant of Venice Act I, Scene III).
How the quote relates to this kalon:
-though his deals and terms always sound fair to both participating parties, his words are not always to be so easily trusted
-knows how to spin the written word to find loopholes to give himself the better end of a deal that at a glance seems fair and right
-uses a silver tongue to lull people into thinking he is a bumbling good-natured oaf who stumbled his way into aristocracy
-always polite, addressing everyone as Ma'am or Sir, or Lady and Lord if they hold titles
-The sort that would pull "Heads I win, Tails you lose" on a coin flip
-sees no fault in himself for doing this, as its the others' own faults if they can't see through his tricky wordings, which follow the letter of the law rather than the spirit
Maybe res? Might drop if I get too busy ;u;
