Name: Hermes
Gender: (Cisgender) male
Favourite flower: Peonies are one of those flowers with insanely long lifespans, which take almost no effort to grow - the kind of flowers you see growing carelessly in graveyards and abandoned buildings. He's grown them before, even returning years later to see them still alive, in contrast with most other flowers which simply die after a year or two. Plus, they look really nice.
Favorite mythical creature:: Phoenix, mostly for its associations with fire and rebirth. The former reminds him of home, of sitting by the fireplace with family. The latter... He believes in second chances, and his search for.a new beginning was the reason he even started wandering in the first place, rather than just sitting around in the ruins of his city.
Personality: Sentimental, Hermes carries around a huge array of random items he's acquired on his travels. A hat, a feather, a pocketwatch - he hates throwing things away, opting instead to leave his things with others when his bags inevitably get too full. It's ironic, really, how hard he finds it to let go, given his nomadic lifestyle.
He's quiet, to the point where many acquaintances have never heard his voice. This isn't because he's mute, or uncomfortable with talking; he just finds it unnecessary. He heavily exaggerates his body language, which would otherwise be mild, to express himself better, supplementing this with a hefty amount of hand and tail gestures. He's actually quite an eloquent speaker when he does talk, though few know this.
It takes a lot to offend him. His unshakable cheer and tendency to assume the best of intentions means he'll almost always accept criticism with a smile - though he dishes out far less than he can take. He'll never speak against others, for fear of offending them, and has a tendency to sugarcoat.
While he's perfectly fine with being alone for some time, Hermes is definitely an extrovert by nature. That's part of why he stops by villages so often; the solitude in between grates on him after the first month or so, leaving him craving Viscet contact. He rarely speaks, true, but he has other ways of bonding - he doesn't need to speak to hug someone, or play horseshoes.
One word to sum him up would be mild: his step is always light, his smile always soft. Gentle and accepting, he's inherently altruistic. He'll never force anything on anyone, knowing when others are uncomfortable and reacting accordingly. While he'll strive to help others to the best of his ability, he knows his limits.
To be perfectly honest, he hates the situation he's built up for himself - a wanderer, with few bonds and no order to his life. He hates to leave the friends he constantly makes, and yet he can't bring himself to stay anywhere for longer than a week or two. He's self-aware enough to realise that this is because he misses his old home, but he can't go back to the ashes that remain, and he doesn't know how to get over it.

I'm socially awkward and sometimes terse - don't mind me.
